Lamentations 5

1 Remember, O Lord, what is come upon us: consider and behold our reproach.

ACUÉRDATE, oh Jehová, de lo que nos ha sucedido: ve y mira nuestro oprobio.

2 Our inheritance is turned to aliens: our houses to strangers.

Nuestra heredad se ha vuelto á extraños, nuestras casas á forasteros.

3 We are become orphans without a father: our mothers are as widows.

Huérfanos somos sin padre, nuestras madres como viudas.

4 We have drunk our water for money: we have bought our wood.

Nuestra agua bebemos por dinero; nuestra leña por precio compramos.

5 We were dragged by the necks, we were weary and no rest was given us.

Persecución padecemos sobre nuestra cerviz: nos cansamos, y no hay para nosotros reposo.

6 We have given our hand to Egypt, and to the Assyrians, that we might be satisfied with bread.

Al Egipcio y al Asirio dimos la mano, para saciarnos de pan.

7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not: and we have borne their iniquities.

Nuestros padres pecaron, y son muertos; y nosotros llevamos sus castigos.

8 Servants have ruled over us: there was none to redeem us out of their hand.

Siervos se enseñorearon de nosotros; no hubo quien de su mano nos librase.

9 We fetched our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the desert.

Con peligro de nuestras vidas traíamos nuestro pan delante del cuchillo del desierto.

10 Our skin was burnt as an oven, by reason of the violence of the famine.

Nuestra piel se ennegreció como un horno á causa del ardor del hambre.

11 They oppressed the women in Sion, and the virgins in the cities of Juda.

Violaron á las mujeres en Sión, á las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.

12 The princes were hanged up by their hand: they did not respect the persons of the ancient.

A los príncipes colgaron por su mano; no respetaron el rostro de los viejos.

13 They abused the young men indecently: and the children fell under the wood.

Llevaron los mozos á moler, y los muchachos desfallecieron en la leña.

14 The ancients have ceased from the gates: the young men from the choir of the singers.

Los ancianos cesaron de la puerta, los mancebos de sus canciones.

15 The joy of our heart is ceased, our dancing is turned into mourning.

Cesó el gozo de nuestro corazón; nuestro corro se tornó en luto.

16 The crown is fallen from our head woe to us, because we have sinned.

Cayó la corona de nuestra cabeza: ¡ay ahora de nosotros! porque pecamos.

17 Therefore is our heart sorrowful, therefore are our eyes become dim,

Por esto fué entristecido nuestro corazón, por esto se entenebrecieron nuestros ojos:

18 For mount Sion, because it is destroyed, foxes have walked upon it.

Por el monte de Sión que está asolado; zorras andan en él.

19 But thou, O Lord, shalt remain for ever, thy throne from generation to generation.

Mas tú, Jehová, permanecerás para siempre: tu trono de generación en generación.

20 Why wilt thou forget us for ever? why wilt thou forsake us for a long time?

¿Por qué te olvidarás para siempre de nosotros, y nos dejarás por largos días?

21 Convert us, O Lord, to thee, and we shall be converted: renew our days, as from the beginning.

Vuélvenos, oh Jehová, á ti, y nos volveremos: renueva nuestros días como al principio.

22 But thou hast utterly rejected us, thou art exceedingly angry against us.

Porque repeliendo nos has desechado; te has airado contra nosotros en gran manera.
