Joshua 8
1 And the Lord said to Josue: Fear not, nor be thou dismayed: take with thee all the multitude of fighting men, arise and go up to the town of Hai. Behold I have delivered into thy hand the king thereof, and the people, and the city, and the land.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଭୟ କର ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ନିରାଶ ହୁଅ ନାହିଁ; ସମସ୍ତ ସୈନ୍ୟ ସଙ୍ଗେ ନେଇ ଉଠି ଅୟକୁ ଯାତ୍ରା କର; ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଅୟର ରାଜାକୁ ଓ ତାହାର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ତାହାର ନଗର ଓ ତାହାର ଦେଶକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲୁ।
2 And thou shalt do to the city of Hai, and to the king thereof, as thou hast done to Jericho, and to the king thereof: but the spoils and all the cattle you shall take for a prey to yourselves: lay an ambush for the city behind it.
ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯିରୀହୋ ଓ ତହିଁର ରାଜା ପ୍ରତି ଯେରୂପ କଲ, ଅୟ ଓ ତହିଁର ରାଜା ପ୍ରତି ସେରୂପ କରିବ; କେବଳ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତହିଁର ଲୁଟଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଓ ପଶୁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ନେବ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନଗରର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ ଆପଣାର ଏକ ଦଳ ସୈନ୍ୟ ଗୋପନ କରି ରଖ।”
3 And Josue arose, and all the army of the fighting men with him, to go up against Hai: and he sent thirty thousand chosen valiant men in the night,
ତହୁଁ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଓ ସକଳ ସୈନ୍ୟ ଉଠି ଅୟକୁ ଯାତ୍ରା କଲେ; ପୁଣି ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ତିରିଶ ହଜାର ମହାବିକ୍ରମଶାଳୀ ଲୋକ ମନୋନୀତ କରି ରାତ୍ରିରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଲେ।
4 And commanded them, saying: Lay an ambush behind the city: and go not very far from it: and be ye all ready.
ପୁଣି ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ନଗର ପ୍ରତିକୂଳରେ ନଗରର ପଛଭାଗରେ ଗୋପନରେ ରହିବ; ନଗରଠାରୁ ବହୁ ଦୂରକୁ ଯିବ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସମସ୍ତେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହୋଇଥିବ।
5 But I and the rest of the multitude which is with me; will approach on the contrary side against the city. And when they shall come out against us, we will flee, and turn our backs, as we did before:
ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ମୁଁ ଓ ମୋର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ନଗର ନିକଟକୁ ଯିବୁ, ତହିଁରେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ପୂର୍ବ ପରି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ବାହାର ହୋଇ ଆସିବେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗରୁ ପଳାଇବୁ।
6 Till they pursuing us be drawn farther from the city: for they will think that we flee as before.
ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଆସିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନଗରରୁ କ୍ରମେ କ୍ରମେ ଦୂରକୁ ଆକର୍ଷଣ କରି ଆଣିବୁ; କାରଣ ସେମାନେ କହିବେ, ଏମାନେ ପୂର୍ବ ପରି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗରୁ ପଳାଉଅଛନ୍ତି; ଏହିରୂପେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରୁ ପଳାଇବୁ;
7 And whilst we are fleeing, and they pursuing, you shall arise out of the ambush, and shall destroy the city: and the Lord your God will deliver it into our hands.
ତହୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଗୋପନ-ସ୍ଥାନରୁ ଉଠି ନଗର ଅଧିକାର କରିବ; କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିବେ।
8 And when you shall have taken it, set it on fire, and you shall do all things so as I have commanded.
ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ନଗର ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲାକ୍ଷଣେ ନଗରରେ ଅଗ୍ନି ଲଗାଇବ; ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ କର୍ମ କରିବ; ଦେଖ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା କଲି।”
9 And he sent them away, and they went on to the place of the ambush, and abode between Bethel and Hai, on the west side of the city of Hai. But Josue stayed that night in the midst of the people,
ଏରୂପେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେରଣ କଲେ; ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ଯାଇ ଅୟର ପଶ୍ଚିମରେ ବେଥେଲ୍ ଓ ଅୟର ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥାନରେ ଗୋପନରେ ରହିଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସେ ରାତ୍ର ରହିଲେ।
10 And rising early in the morning, he mustered his soldiers, and went up with the ancients in the front of the army environed with the aid of the fighting men.
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଅତି ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଉଠି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଗଣନା କଲେ, ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗେ ଆଗେ ଅୟକୁ ଯାତ୍ରା କଲେ।
11 And when they were come, and were gone up over against the city, they stood on the north side of the city, between which and them there was a valley in the midst.
ପୁଣି ତାଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ସମସ୍ତ ସୈନ୍ୟ ଯାଇ ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ହୋଇ ନଗର ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ ଓ ଅୟର ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଗରେ ଛାଉଣି ସ୍ଥାପନ କଲେ; ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଓ ଅୟର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏକ ଉପତ୍ୟକା ଥିଲା।
12 And he had chosen five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Bethel and Hai, on the west side of the same city:
ପୁଣି ସେ ନ୍ୟୂନାଧିକ ପାଞ୍ଚ ହଜାର ଲୋକ ନେଇ ନଗରର ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଦିଗରେ ବେଥେଲ୍ ଓ ଅୟର ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥାନରେ ଗୋପନରେ ରଖିଲେ।
13 But all the rest of the army went in battle array on the north side, so that the last of that multitude reached to the west side of the city. So Josue went that night, and stood in the midst of the valley.
ଏହିରୂପେ ସେମାନେ ନଗରର ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଗସ୍ଥ ସମସ୍ତ ଛାଉଣିକୁ ଓ ନଗରର ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଦିଗସ୍ଥ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ଗୁପ୍ତ ଦଳକୁ ରଖିଲେ; ପୁଣି ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ସେହି ରାତ୍ରି ତଳଭୂମି ମଧ୍ୟକୁ ଗମନ କଲେ।
14 And when the king of Hai saw this, he made haste in the morning, and went out with all the army of the city, and set it in battle array toward the desert, not knowing that there lay an ambush behind his back.
ସେତେବେଳେ ଅୟର ରାଜା ତାହା ଦେଖନ୍ତେ, ସେ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ଉଠିଲେ ଓ ନଗରସ୍ଥ ଲୋକମାନେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସହିତ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ବାହାରି ନିରୂପିତ ସମୟରେ ପଦାଭୂମି ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ; ମାତ୍ର ତାଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଏକ ଦଳ ସୈନ୍ୟ ନଗର ପଛେ ଗୋପନରେ ଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ସେ ଜାଣି ନ ଥିଲେ।
15 But Josue, and all Israel gave back, making as if they were afraid, and fleeing by the way of the wilderness.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଓ ସମଗ୍ର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରାସ୍ତ ହେଲା ପରି ଦେଖାଇ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତର-ପଥ ଦେଇ ପଳାୟନ କଲେ।
16 But they shouting together, and encouraging one another, pursued them. And when they were come from the city,
ତହିଁରେ ନଗରସ୍ଥିତ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଏକତ୍ର ଡକାଗଲେ; ପୁଣି ସେମାନେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କର ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଉ ଗୋଡ଼ାଉ ନଗରରୁ ଦୂରକୁ ଆକର୍ଷିତ ହେଲେ।
17 And not one remained in the city of Hai and of Bethel, that did not pursue after Israel, leaving the towns open as they had rushed out,
ପୁଣି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପଛରେ ଯେ ନ ଗଲା, ଏପରି ଜଣେ ହେଲେ ଅୟ କି ବେଥେଲ୍ରେ ଅବଶିଷ୍ଟ ନ ଥିଲା; ସମସ୍ତେ ନଗର ମୁକ୍ତ କରି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ।
18 The Lord said to Josue: Lift up the shield that is in thy hand, towards the city of Hai, for I will deliver it to thee.
ସେତେବେଳେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ହସ୍ତସ୍ଥିତ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଅୟ ନଗର ଆଡ଼େ ବିସ୍ତାର କର; କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତଗତ କରିବା।” ତହିଁରେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଆପଣା ହସ୍ତସ୍ଥିତ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ନଗର ଆଡ଼େ ବିସ୍ତାର କଲେ।
19 And when he had lifted up his shield towards the city, the ambush that lay hid, rose up immediately: and going to the city, took it and set it on fire.
ସେ ହସ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାର କରିବା ମାତ୍ରେ ଗୋପନରେ ଥିବା ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ଶୀଘ୍ର ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ସ୍ଥାନରୁ ଉଠି ଦୌଡ଼ିଯାଇ ନଗରରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରି ତାହା ହସ୍ତଗତ କଲେ ଓ ଶୀଘ୍ର ନଗରରେ ଅଗ୍ନି ଲଗାଇଲେ।
20 And the men of the city, that pursued after Josue, looking back and seeing the smoke of the city rise up to heaven, had no more power to flee this way or that way: especially as they that had counterfeited flight, and were going toward the wilderness, turned back most valiantly against them that pursued.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅୟର ଲୋକମାନେ ଆପଣା ପଛକୁ ଅନାଇ ଦେଖିଲେ, ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ନଗରର ଧୂମ ଆକାଶକୁ ଉଠୁଅଛି, ମାତ୍ର ଏଆଡ଼େ କି ସେଆଡ଼େ ପଳାଇବାକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ବଳ ନ ଥିଲା; ଆଉ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରକୁ ପଳାଉଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ଫେରି ଗୋଡ଼ାଇବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ।
21 So Josue and all Israel seeing that the city was taken, and that the smoke of the city rose up, returned and slew the men of Hai.
ପୁଣି ଗୋପନରେ ଥିବା ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ନଗର ହସ୍ତଗତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ନଗରର ଧୂମ ଉଠୁଅଛି, ଏହା ଦେଖି ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଫେରି ଅୟର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲେ।
22 And they also that had taken and set the city on fire, issuing out of the city to meet their own men, began to cut off the enemies who were surrounded by them. So that the enemies being cut off on both sides, not one of so great a multitude was saved.
ଆଉ ଅନ୍ୟ ଦଳ ନଗରରୁ ବାହାରି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଆସିଲେ; ଏହିରୂପେ ସେମାନେ ଏପାଖେ କେତେକ ଓ ସେପାଖେ କେତେକ ହୋଇ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପଡ଼ିଲେ; ତେଣୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏପରି ସଂହାର କଲେ ଯେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହି ଅବଶିଷ୍ଟ ରହିଲା ନାହିଁ, କି କେହି ପଳାଇ ପାରିଲା ନାହିଁ।
23 And they took the king of the city of Hai alive, and brought him to Josue.
ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନେ ଅୟର ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଜୀବିତ ଧରି ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିଲେ।
24 So all being slain that had pursued after Israel in his flight to the wilderness, and tailing by the sword in the same place, the children of Israel returned and laid waste the city.
ଏହିରୂପେ ଯେଉଁ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଅୟ ନିବାସୀ ଲୋକମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଉଥିଲେ, ସେହି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନିଃଶେଷିତ ହେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବଧ କରି ସାରିଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେମାନେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁବରଣ କଲେ, ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସମଗ୍ର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଫେରିଆସି ଅୟରେ ଥିବା ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଜଣଙ୍କୁ ସଂହାର କଲେ।
25 And the number of them that fell that day, both of men and women, was twelve thousand persons all of the city of Hai.
ପୁଣି ସେହି ଦିନ ଅୟ ନିବାସୀ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ପୁରୁଷ ସର୍ବସୁଦ୍ଧା ବାର ହଜାର ଲୋକ ହତ ହେଲେ।
26 But Josue drew not back his hand, which he had stretched out on high, holding the shield, till all the inhabitants of Hai were slain.
କାରଣ ଅୟ ନିବାସୀ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରୂପେ ବିନାଶ କରିବା ଯାଏ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଆପଣାର ଯେଉଁ ହସ୍ତ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଧରି ବିସ୍ତାର କରିଥିଲେ, ତାହା ସେ ସଙ୍କୁଚିତ କଲେ ନାହିଁ।
27 And the children of Israel divided among them the cattle and the prey of the city, as the Lord had commanded Josue.
ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞାନୁସାରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ କେବଳ ସେହି ନଗରର ପଶୁ ଓ ଲୁଟ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟସବୁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଗ୍ରହଣ କଲେ।
28 And he burned the city, and made it a heap for ever:
ପୁଣି ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଅୟ ନଗରକୁ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ଦଗ୍ଧ କରି ଅନନ୍ତକାଳୀନ ଢିପି ଓ ଆଜିଯାଏ ଏକ ଶୂନ୍ୟସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ।
29 And he hung the king thereof on a gibbet until the evening and the going down of the sun. Then Josue commanded, and they took down his carcass from the gibbet: and threw it in the very entrance of the city, heaping upon it a great heap of stones, which remaineth until this present day.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେ ଅୟର ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବୃକ୍ଷରେ ଟଙ୍ଗାଇ ରଖିଲେ, ମାତ୍ର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟାସ୍ତ ସମୟରେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦିଅନ୍ତେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ତାଙ୍କର ଶବ ବୃକ୍ଷରୁ ତଳକୁ ଆଣି ନଗରଦ୍ୱାର-ପ୍ରବେଶ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ପକାଇ; ତହିଁ ଉପରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତରର ଏକ ବଡ଼ ଢିପି କଲେ; ତାହା ଆଜିଯାଏ ଅଛି।
30 Then Josue built an altar to the Lord the God of Israel in mount Hebal,
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଏବଲ ପର୍ବତରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଏକ ଯଜ୍ଞବେଦି ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲେ।
31 As Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded the children of Israel, and it is written in the book of the law of Moses: an altar of unhewn stones which iron had not touched: and he offered upon it holocausts to the Lord, and immolated victims of peace offerings.
ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସେବକ ମୋଶା ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣକୁ ଯେରୂପ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇଥିଲେ, ସେରୂପ ମୋଶାଙ୍କର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା-ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥର ଲେଖାନୁସାରେ, ଯହିଁ ଉପରେ କୌଣସି ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଲୁହା ଉଞ୍ଚାଇ ନାହିଁ, ଏପରି ଅଚଞ୍ଛା ପଥରର ଏକ ଯଜ୍ଞବେଦି ସେ ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲେ; ତହିଁ ଉପରେ ସେମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ହୋମ ଓ ମଙ୍ଗଳାର୍ଥକ ବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲେ।
32 And he wrote upon stones the Deuteronomy of the law of Moses, which he had ordered before the children of Israel.
ପୁଣି ସେ ସେହି ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ଉପରେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଲିଖିତ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା-ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥର ଅଂଶ ଉତ୍ତାରି ଲେଖିଲେ।
33 And all the people, and the ancients, and the princes and judges stood on both sides of the ark, before the priests that carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, both the stranger and he that was born among them, half of them by mount Garizim, and half by mount Hebal, as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded. And first he blessed the people of Israel.
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ସମୁଦାୟ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗ ଓ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷଗଣ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତୃଗଣ, ଯେପରି ବିଦେଶୀ, ସେପରି ଗୃହଜାତ, ଅଧେ ଗରିଷୀମ ପର୍ବତ ଆଗରେ ଓ ଅଧେ ଏବଲ ପର୍ବତ ଆଗରେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିୟମ-ସିନ୍ଦୁକବାହୀ ଲେବୀୟ ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ସିନ୍ଦୁକର ଏପାଖେ ଓ ସେପାଖେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ; କାରଣ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସେବକ ମୋଶା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଇଥିଲେ।
34 After this he read all the words of the blessing and the cursing and all things that were written in the hook of the law.
