John 2
1 And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there.
Et le troisième jour, il se fit des noces à Cana en Galilée; et la mère de Jésus y était.
2 And Jesus also was invited, and his disciples, to the marriage.
Jésus fut aussi convié aux noces avec ses disciples.
3 And the wine failing, the mother of Jesus saith to him: They have no wine.
Le vin étant venu à manquer, la mère de Jésus lui dit: " Ils n'ont point de vin. "
4 And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is that to me and to thee? my hour is not yet come.
Jésus lui répondit: " Femme, qu'est-ce que cela pour moi et vous? Mon heure n'est pas encore venue. "
5 His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.
Sa mère dit aux serviteurs: " Faites tout ce qu'il vous dira. "
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three measures apiece.
Or, il y avait là six urnes de pierre destinées aux ablutions des Juifs, et contenant chacune deux ou trois mesures.
7 Jesus saith to them: Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Jésus leur dit: " Remplissez d'eau ces urnes. " Et ils les remplirent jusqu'au haut.
8 And Jesus saith to them: Draw out now, and carry to the chief steward of the feast. And they carried it.
Et il leur dit: " Puisez maintenant, et portez-en au maître du festin; " et ils en portèrent.
9 And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters knew who had drawn the water; the chief steward calleth the bridegroom,
Dès que le maître du festin eut goûté l'eau changée en vin (il ne savait pas d'où venait ce vin, mais les serviteurs qui avaient puisé l'eau le savaient), il interpella l'époux,
10 And saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine, and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now.
et lui dit: " Tout homme sert d'abord le bon vin, et, après qu'on a bu abondamment, le moins bon; mais toi, tu as gardé le bon jusqu'à ce moment. " —
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee; and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
Tel fut, à Cana de Galilée, le premier des miracles que fit Jésus, et il manifesta sa gloire, et ses disciples crurent en lui.
12 After this he went down to Capharnaum, he and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they remained there not many days.
Après cela, il descendit à Capharnaüm avec sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples, et ils n'y demeurèrent que peu de jours.
13 And the pasch of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Or la Pâque des Juifs était proche, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
14 And he found in the temple them that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting.
Il trouva dans le temple les marchands de bœufs, de brebis, et de colombes, et les changeurs assis.
15 And when he had made, as it were, a scourge of little cords, he drove them all out of the temple, the sheep also and the oxen, and the money of the changers he poured out, and the tables he overthrew.
Et ayant fait un petit fouet avec des cordes, il les chassa tous du temple, avec les brebis et les bœufs; il jeta par terre l'argent des changeurs, et renversa leurs tables.
16 And to them that sold doves he said: Take these things hence, and make not the house of my Father a house of traffic.
Et il dit aux vendeurs de colombes: " Enlevez cela d'ici; ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une maison de trafic. "
17 And his disciples remembered, that it was written: The zeal of thy house hath eaten me up.
Les disciples se ressouvinrent alors qu'il est écrit: " Le zèle de votre maison me dévore. "
18 The Jews, therefore, answered, and said to him: What sign dost thou shew unto us, seeing thou dost these things?
Les Juifs prenant la parole lui dirent: " Quel signe nous montrez-vous, pour agir de la sorte? "
19 Jesus answered, and said to them: Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Jésus leur répondit: " Détruisez ce temple et je le relèverai en trois jours. "
20 The Jews then said: Six and forty years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
Les Juifs repartirent: " C'est en quarante-six ans que ce temple a été bâti, et vous, en trois jours vous le relèverez! "
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
Mais lui, il parlait du temple de son corps.
22 When therefore he was risen again from the dead, his disciples remembered, that he had said this, and they believed the scripture, and the word that Jesus had said.
Lors donc qu'il fut ressuscité d'entre les morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il avait dit cela, et ils crurent à l'Ecriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite.
23 Now when he was at Jerusalem, at the pasch, upon the festival day, many believed in his name, seeing his signs which he did.
Pendant que Jésus était à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque, beaucoup voyant les miracles qu'il faisait, crurent en son nom.
24 But Jesus did not trust himself unto them, for that he knew all men,
Mais Jésus ne se fiait point à eux, parce qu'il les connaissait tous,
25 And because he needed not that any should give testimony of man: for he knew what was in man.
et qu'il n'avait pas besoin qu'on lui rendit témoignage d'aucun homme; car il savait, lui, ce qu'il y avait dans l'homme.
