John 15

1 I am the true vine; and my Father is the husbandman.

« Je suis la vraie vigne, et mon Père est le cultivateur.

2 Every branch in me, that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Tout sarment qui est en moi et qui ne porte pas de fruit, il l'enlève. Tout sarment qui porte du fruit, il l'émonde, afin qu'il porte encore plus de fruit.

3 Now you are clean by reason of the word, which I have spoken to you.

Vous êtes déjà émondés, à cause de la parole que je vous ai dite.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Restez en moi, et moi en vous. De même que le sarment ne peut porter du fruit de lui-même s'il ne demeure pas dans le cep, de même vous ne le pouvez pas non plus, si vous ne demeurez pas en moi.

5 I am the vine: you the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

Je suis la vigne. Vous êtes les sarments. Celui qui demeure en moi et en qui je demeure porte beaucoup de fruit, car hors de moi vous ne pouvez rien faire.

6 If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up, and case him into the fire, and be burneth.

Si un homme ne demeure pas en moi, il est jeté comme un sarment et il se dessèche; on le ramasse, on le jette au feu et il brûle.

7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you will, and it shall be done unto you.

Si vous demeurez en moi, et que mes paroles demeurent en vous, vous demanderez tout ce que vous voudrez, et cela vous sera accordé.

8 In this is my Father glorified; that you bring forth very much fruit, and become my disciples.

« Mon Père est glorifié en ceci que vous portez beaucoup de fruit; c'est ainsi que vous serez mes disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you.

Comme le Père m'a aimé, moi aussi je vous ai aimés. Demeurez dans mon amour.

10 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father’s commandments, and do abide in his love.

Si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez dans mon amour, comme j'ai gardé les commandements de mon Père et que je demeure dans son amour.

11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.

Je vous ai dit ces choses, afin que ma joie demeure en vous, et que votre joie soit parfaite.

12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

« Voici mon commandement: aimez-vous les uns les autres, comme je vous ai aimés.

13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Il n'y a pas de plus grand amour que celui-ci: que quelqu'un donne sa vie pour ses amis.

14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.

Vous êtes mes amis, si vous faites tout ce que je vous commande.

15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.

Je ne vous appelle plus serviteurs, car le serviteur ne sait pas ce que fait son maître. Mais je vous ai appelés amis, car tout ce que j'ai entendu de mon Père, je vous l'ai fait connaître.

16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Ce n'est pas vous qui m'avez choisi, mais c'est moi qui vous ai choisis et établis, afin que vous alliez et que vous portiez du fruit, et que votre fruit demeure, afin que tout ce que vous demanderez au Père en mon nom, il vous le donne.

17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

Je vous ordonne ces choses, afin que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres.

18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.

Si le monde vous hait, vous savez qu'il m'a haï avant de vous haïr.

19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Si vous étiez du monde, le monde aimerait les siens. Mais parce que vous n'êtes pas du monde, parce que je vous ai choisis hors du monde, c'est pourquoi le monde vous hait.

20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

Souvenez-vous de la parole que je vous ai dite: « Le serviteur n'est pas plus grand que son maître ». S'ils m'ont persécuté, ils vous persécuteront aussi. S'ils ont gardé ma parole, ils garderont aussi la vôtre.

21 But all these things they will do to you for my name’s sake: because they know not him who sent me.

Mais ils vous feront toutes ces choses à cause de mon nom, parce qu'ils ne connaissent pas celui qui m'a envoyé.

22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

Si je n'étais pas venu leur parler, ils n'auraient pas eu de péché; mais maintenant ils n'ont aucune excuse pour leur péché.

23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.

Celui qui me hait, hait aussi mon Père.

24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

Si je n'avais pas fait parmi eux les œuvres que personne d'autre n'a faites, ils n'auraient pas eu de péché. Mais maintenant ils ont vu et ils ont aussi haï à la fois moi et mon Père.

25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.

Mais cela est arrivé afin que s'accomplisse la parole qui était écrite dans leur loi: « Ils m'ont haï sans cause.

26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.

Quand sera venu le conseiller que je vous enverrai de la part du Père, l'Esprit de vérité, qui vient du Père, il rendra témoignage de moi.

27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.

Vous aussi, vous rendrez témoignage, parce que vous êtes avec moi depuis le commencement.
