Isaiah 5
1 I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my cousin concerning his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a hill in a fruitful place.
Wohlan, ich will singen von meinem Geliebten, ein Lied meines Lieben von seinem Weinberge: Mein Geliebter hatte einen Weinberg auf einem fetten Hügel. [Eig. Horne, d. h. einem freistehenden Hügel]
2 And he fenced it in, and picked the stones out of it, and planted it with the choicest vines, and built a tower in the midst thereof, and set up a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it broutht forth wild grapes.
Und er grub ihn um und säuberte ihn von Steinen und bepflanzte ihn mit Edelreben; und er baute einen Turm in seine Mitte und hieb auch eine Kelter [Eig. einen Keltertrog] darin aus; und er erwartete, daß er Trauben brächte, aber er brachte Herlinge.
3 And now, O ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and ye men of Juda, judge between me and my vineyard.
Nun denn, Bewohner von Jerusalem und Männer von Juda, richtet doch zwischen mir und meinem Weinberge!
4 What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it?
Was war noch an meinem Weinberge zu tun, das ich nicht an ihm getan hätte? Warum habe ich erwartet, daß er Trauben brächte, und er brachte Herlinge?
5 And now I will shew you wnat I will do to my vineyard. I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be wasted: I will break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down.
Nun, so will ich euch denn kundmachen, was ich meinem Weinberge tun will: seinen Zaun wegnehmen, daß er abgeweidet werde, seine Mauer niederreißen, daß er zertreten werde.
6 And I will make it desolate: it shall not be pruned, and it shall not be digged: but briers and thorns shall come up: and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.
Und ich werde ihn zu Grunde richten; er soll nicht beschnitten noch behackt werden, und Dornen und Disteln sollen in ihm aufschießen; [Eig. und er soll in Dornen und Disteln aufgehen] und ich will den Wolken gebieten, daß sie keinen Regen auf ihn fallen lassen.
7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel: and the man of Juda, his pleasant plant: and I looked that he should do judgment, and behold iniquity: and do justice, and behold a cry.
Denn der Weinberg Jehovas der Heerscharen ist das Haus Israel, und die Männer von Juda sind die Pflanzung seines Ergötzens; und er wartete auf Recht, und siehe da: Blutvergießen, [O. gewaltsames Wegraffen] auf Gerechtigkeit, und siehe da: Wehgeschrei.
8 Woe to you that join house to house and lay field to field, even to the end of the place: shall you alone dwell in the midst of the earth?
Wehe denen, die Haus an Haus reihen, Feld an Feld rücken, bis gar kein Raum mehr ist, und ihr allein seßhaft seid inmitten des Landes!
9 These things are in my ears, saith the Lord of hosts: unless many great and fair houses shall become desolate, without an inhabitant.
Vor meinen [Eig. In meine] Ohren hat Jehova der Heerscharen gesprochen: Wenn nicht die vielen Häuser zur Wüste werden, die großen und schönen ohne Bewohner!
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one little measure, and thirty bushels of seed shall yield three bushels.
Denn zehn Juchart Weinberge werden ein Bath bringen, und ein Homer Samen wird ein Epha [ein Homer= 12 Epha] bringen. -
11 Woe to you that rise up early in the morning to follow drunkenness, and to drink till the evening, to be inflamed with wine.
Wehe denen, die des Morgens früh sich aufmachen, um starkem Getränk nachzulaufen, bis spät am Abend bleiben, der Wein erhitzt sie!
12 The harp, and the lyre, and the timbrel, and the pipe, and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.
Und Laute und Harfe, Tamburin und Flöte und Wein sind bei ihrem Gelage; aber auf das Tun Jehovas schauen sie nicht, und das Werk seiner Hände sehen sie nicht.
13 Therefore is my people led away captive, because they had not knowledge, and their nobles have perished with famine, and their multitude were dried up with thirst.
Darum wird mein Volk weggeführt aus Mangel an Erkenntnis, und seine Edlen verhungern, [W. sind Männer des Hungers. Viell. ist zu l.: sind ausgezehrt durch Hunger] und seine Menge lechzt vor Durst.
14 Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul, and opened her mouth without any bounds, and their strong ones, and their people, and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it. (Sheol h7585)
Darum sperrt der Scheol weit auf seinen Schlund und reißt seinen Rachen auf ohne Maß; und hinab fährt seine [d. i. Jerusalems] Pracht und sein Getümmel und sein Getöse und wer darin frohlockt. (Sheol h7585)
15 And man shall be brought down, and man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be brought low.
Und der Mensch wird gebeugt und der Mann erniedrigt, und die Augen der Hoffärtigen werden erniedrigt.
16 And the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and the holy God shall be sanctified in justice.
Und Jehova der Heerscharen wird im Gericht erhaben sein, und Gott, der Heilige, sich heilig erweisen in Gerechtigkeit. -
17 And the lambs shall feed according to their order, and strangers shall eat the deserts turned into fruitfulness.
Und Schafe werden dort weiden wie auf ihrer Trift, und Fremdlinge [Wahrsch. Wanderhirten] in den verwüsteten Fluren der Fetten sich nähren.
18 Woe to you that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as the rope of a cart.
Wehe denen, welche die Ungerechtigkeit einherziehen mit Stricken der Falschheit, und die Sünde wie mit Wagenseilen!
19 That say: Let him make haste, and let his work come quickly, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel come, that we may know it.
die da sprechen: Er beeile, er beschleunige sein Werk, damit wir es sehen; und der Ratschluß des Heiligen Israels möge herannahen und kommen, damit wir ihn erfahren! -
20 Woe to you that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.
Wehe denen, die das Böse gut heißen, und das Gute böse; welche Finsternis zu Licht machen, und Licht zu Finsternis; welche Bitteres zu Süßem machen, und Süßes zu Bitterem! -
21 Woe to you that rue wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own conceits.
Wehe denen, die in ihren Augen weise und bei sich selbst verständig sind! -
22 Woe to you that are mighty to drink wine, and stout men at drunkenness.
Wehe denen, die Helden sind, um Wein zu trinken, und tapfere Männer, um starkes Getränk zu mischen;
23 That justify the wicked for gifts, and take away the justice of the just from him.
welche den Gesetzlosen um eines Geschenkes willen gerecht sprechen, und die Gerechtigkeit [O. das Recht] der Gerechten ihnen entziehen!
24 Therefore as the tongue of the fire devoureth the stubble, and the heat of the dame consumeth it: so shall their root be as ashes, and their bud shall go up as dust: for they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and have blasphemed the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Darum, wie des Feuers Zunge die Stoppeln verzehrt, und dürres Gras in der Flamme zusammensinkt, so wird ihre Wurzel wie Moder werden, und ihre Blüte auffliegen wie Staub; denn sie haben das Gesetz Jehovas der Heerscharen verworfen und das Wort des Heiligen Israels verschmäht.
25 Therefore is the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand upon them, and struck them: and the mountains were troubled, and their carcasses became as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Darum ist der Zorn Jehovas wider sein Volk entbrannt, und er hat seine Hand gegen dasselbe ausgestreckt und es geschlagen; und die Berge erbebten, und ihre Leichname wurden wie Kehricht inmitten der Straßen. -Bei dem allen wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt.
26 And he will lift up a sign to the nations afar off, and will whistle to them from the ends of the earth: and behold they shall come with speed swiftly.
Und er wird ein Panier erheben den fernen Nationen, und eine [Eig. sie; [die nachher beschriebene Nation]] wird er herbeizischen vom Ende der Erde; und siehe, eilends, schnell wird sie kommen.
27 There is none that shall faint, nor labour among them: they shall not slumber nor sleep, neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken.
Bei ihr ist kein Müder und kein Strauchelnder, keiner schlummert noch schläft; auch ist nicht gelöst der Gürtel ihrer [Eig. seiner, d. h. jedes einzelnen von ihnen] Lenden, noch zerrissen der Riemen ihrer [Eig. seiner, d. h. jedes einzelnen von ihnen] Schuhe.
28 Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are bent. The hoofs of their horses shall be like the hint, and their wheels like the violence of a tempest.
Ihre Pfeile sind geschärft, und alle ihre Bogen gespannt; die Hufe ihrer Rosse sind Kieseln gleich zu achten, und ihre Räder dem Wirbelwinde.
29 Their roaring like that of a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea they shall roar, and take hold of the prey, and they shall keep fast hold of it, and there shall be none to deliver it.
Ihr Gebrüll ist wie das einer Löwin, sie brüllt wie die jungen Löwen; und sie knurrt und packt die Beute und bringt sie in Sicherheit, und kein Erretter ist da.
30 And they shall make a noise against them that day, like the roaring of the sea; we shall look towards the land, and behold darkness of tribulation, and the light is darkened with the mist thereof.
Und sie knurrt über ihr an jenem Tage gleich dem Rauschen des Meeres. Und man blickt zur Erde, und siehe, Finsternis, Drangsal; und das Licht ist verfinstert durch ihr Gewölk. [der Erde]
