Ezra 10
1 Now when Esdras was thus praying, and beseeching, and weeping, and lying before the temple of God, there was gathered to him of Israel an exceeding great assembly of men and women and children, and the people wept with much lamentation.
E orando Esdras assim, e fazendo esta confissão, chorando, e prostrando-se diante da casa de Deus, ajuntou-se a elle d'Israel uma mui grande congregação, de homens e de mulheres, e de crianças; porque o povo chorava com grande choro.
2 And Sechenias the son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam answered, and said to Esdras: We have sinned against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: and now if there be repentance in Israel concerning this,
Então respondeu Sechanias, filho de Jehiel, um dos filhos de Elam, e disse a Esdras: Nós temos transgredido contra o nosso Deus, e casámos com mulheres estranhas do povo da terra, mas, no tocante a isto, ainda ha esperança para Israel.
3 Let us make a covenant with the Lord our God, to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the will of the Lord, and of them that fear the commandment of the Lord our God: let it be done according to the law.
Agora pois façamos concerto com o nosso Deus de que despediremos todas as mulheres, e tudo o que é nascido d'ellas, conforme ao conselho do Senhor, e dos que tremem ao mandado do nosso Deus; e faça-se conforme a lei.
4 Arise, it is thy part to give orders, and we will be with thee: take courage, and do it.
Levanta-te, pois, porque te pertence este negocio, e nós seremos comtigo; esforça-te, e obra.
5 So Esdras arose, and made the chiefs of the priests and of the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word, and they swore.
Então Esdras se levantou, e ajuramentou os maioraes dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, e a todo o Israel, de que fariam conforme a esta palavra, e juraram.
6 And Esdras rose up from before the house of God, and went to the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliasib, and entered in thither: he ate no bread, and drank no water: for he mourned for the transgression of them that were come out of the captivity.
E Esdras se levantou de diante da casa de Deus, e entrou na camara de Johanan, filho de Eliasib: e, vindo lá, pão não comeu, e agua não bebeu; porque estava annojado pela transgressão dos do captiveiro.
7 And proclamation was made in Juda and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should assemble together into Jerusalem.
E fizeram passar pregão por Judah e Jerusalem, e todos os que vieram do captiveiro, para que se ajuntassem em Jerusalem.
8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the ancients, all his substance should be taken away, and he should be cast out of the company of them that were returned from captivity.
E que todo aquelle que em tres dias não viesse, segundo o conselho dos principes e dos anciãos, toda a sua fazenda se poria em interdicto, e elle seria separado da congregação dos do captiveiro.
9 Then all the men of Juda, and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within three days, in the ninth month, the twentieth day of the month: and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of the sin, and the rain.
Então todos os homens de Judah e Benjamin em tres dias se ajuntaram em Jerusalem: era o nono mez, no dia vinte do mez: e todo o povo se assentou na praça da casa de Deus, tremendo por este negocio e por causa das grandes chuvas.
10 And Esdras the priest stood up, and said to them: You have transgressed, and taken strange wives, to add to the sins of Israel.
Então se levantou Esdras, o sacerdote, e disse-lhes: Vós tendes transgredido, e casastes com mulheres estranhas, multiplicando o delicto d'Israel.
11 And now make confession to the Lord the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from your strange wives.
Agora pois fazei confissão ao Senhor Deus de vossos paes; e fazei a sua vontade; e apartae-vos dos povos das terras, e das mulheres estranhas.
12 And all the multitude answered and said with a loud voice: According to thy word unto us, so be it done.
E respondeu toda a congregação, e disseram em altas vozes: Assim seja, conforme ás tuas palavras nos convem fazer.
13 But as the people are many, and it is time of rain, and me are not able to stand without, and it is not a work of one day or two, (for we have exceedingly sinned in this matter, )
Porém o povo é muito, e tambem é tempo de grandes chuvas, e não se pode estar aqui fóra: nem é obra d'um dia nem de dois, porque somos muitos os que transgredimos n'este negocio.
14 Let rulers be appointed in all the multitude: and in all our cities, let them that have taken strange wives come at the times appointed, and with them the ancients and the judges of every city, until the wrath of our God be turned away from us for this sin.
Ora ponham-se os nossos principes, por toda a congregação sobre este negocio; e todos os que em nossas cidades casaram com mulheres estranhas venham em tempos apontados, e com elles os anciãos de cada cidade, e os seus juizes, até que desviemos de nós o ardor da ira do nosso Deus, por esta causa.
15 Then Jonathan the son of Azahel, and Jaasia the son of Thecua were appointed over this, and Mesollam and Sebethai, Levites, helped them:
Porém sómente Jonathan, filho d'Asael, e Jehazias, filho de Tikva, se pozeram sobre este negocio: e Mesullam, e Sabbethai, levita, os ajudaram.
16 And the children of the captivity did so. And Esdras the priest, and the men heads of the families in the houses of their fathers, and all by their names, went and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
E assim o fizeram os que tornaram do captiveiro: e apartaram-se o sacerdote Esdras e os homens, cabeças dos paes, segundo a casa de seus paes, e todos pelos seus nomes; e assentaram-se no primeiro dia do decimo mez, para inquirirem n'este negocio.
17 And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
E acabaram-n'o com todos os homens que casaram com mulheres estranhas, até ao primeiro dia do primeiro mez.
18 And there were found among the sons of the priests that had taken strange wives: Of the sons of Josue the son of Josedec, and his brethren, Maasia, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Godolia.
E acharam-se dos filhos dos sacerdotes que casaram com mulheres estranhas: dos filhos de Josué, filho de Josadak, e seus irmãos, Maaseias, e Eliezer, e Jarib, e Gadalias.
19 And they gave their hands to put away their wives, and to offer for their offence a ram of the flock.
E deram a sua mão de que despediriam suas mulheres: e, achando-se culpados, offereceram um carneiro do rebanho pelo seu delicto.
20 And of the sons of Emmer, Hanani, and Zebedia.
E dos filhos d'Immer: Hanani, e Zabadias.
21 And of the sons of Harim, Maasia, and Elia, and Semeia, and Jehiel, and Ozias.
E dos filhos d'Harim: Maaseias, e Elias, e Semaias, e Jehiel, e Uzias.
22 And of the sons of Pheshur, Elioenai, Maasia, Ismael, Nathanael, Jozabed, and Elasa.
E dos filhos de Pashur: Elioenai, Maseias, Ishmael, Nathanel, Jozabad, e Elasa.
23 And of the sons of the Levites, Jozabed, and Semei, and Celaia, the same is Calita, Phataia, Juda, and Eliezer.
E dos levitas: Jozabad, e Simei, e Kelaias (este é Kelitas), Pethahias, Judah, e Eliezer.
24 And of the singing men, Elisiab: and of the porters, Sellum, and Telem, and Uri.
E dos cantores: Eliasib: e dos porteiros: Sallum, e Telem, e Uri.
25 And of Israel, of the sons of Pharos, Remeia, and Jezia, and Melchia, and Miamin, and Eliezer, and Melchia, and Banea.
E d'Israel, dos filhos de Paros: Ramias, e Jezias, e Malchias, e Miamin, e Eleazer, e Malchias, e Benaias.
26 And of the sons of Elam, Mathania, Zacharias, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jerimoth, and Elia.
E dos filhos d'Elam: Matthanias, Zacharias, e Jehiel, e Abdi, e Jeremoth, e Elias.
27 And of the sons of Zethua, Elioenai, Eliasib, Mathania, Jerimuth, and Zabad, and Aziaza.
E dos filhos de Zattu: Elioenai Eliasib, Matthanias, e Jeremoth, e Zabad, e Aziza.
28 And of the sons of Babai, Johanan, Hanania, Zabbai, Athalai:
E dos filhos de Bebai: Johanan, Hananias, Zabbai, Athlai.
29 And of the sons of Bani, Mosollam, and Melluch, and Adaia, Jasub, and Seal, and Ramoth.
E dos filhos de Bani: Mesullam, Malluch, e Adaias, Jasub, e Seal, Jeremoth.
30 And of the sons of Phahath, Moab, Edna, and Chalal, Banaias, and Maasias, Mathanias, Beseleel, Bennui, and Manasse.
E dos filhos de Pahath-moab: Adna, e Chelal, Benaias, Maseias, Matthanias, Besaleel, e Binnui, e Manasseh.
31 And of the sons of Herem, Eliezer, Josue, Melchias, Semeias, Simeon,
E dos filhos d'Harim: Eliezer, Jesias, Malchias, Semaias, Simeão,
32 Benjamin, Maloch, Samarias.
Benjamin, Malluch, Semarias.
33 And of the sons of Hasom, Mathanai, Mathatha, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jermai, Manasse, Semei.
Dos filhos d'Hasum: Mathnai, Matthattha, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Simei.
34 Of the sons of Bani, Maaddi, Amran, and Uel,
Dos filhos de Bani: Maadai, Amram, e Uel,
35 Baneas, and Badaias, Cheliau,
Benaias, Bedias, Cheluhi,
36 Vania, Marimuth, and Eliasib,
Vanias, Meremoth, Eliasib,
37 Mathanias, Mathania, and Jasi,
Matthanias, Mathnai, e Jaasai,
38 And Bani, and Bennui, Semei,
E Bani, e Binnui, Simei,
39 And Salmias, and Nathan, and Adaias,
E Selemias, e Nathan, e Adaias,
40 And Mechnedebai, Sisai, Sarai,
Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,
41 Ezrel, and Selemiau, Semeria,
Azareel, e Selemias, Semarias,
42 Sellum, Amaria, Joseph.

43 Of the sons of Nebo, Jehiel, Mathathias, Zabad, Zabina, Jeddu, and Joel, and Banaia.
Dos filhos de Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithias, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, e Benaias.
44 All these had taken strange wives, and there were among them women that had borne children.
Todos estes tomaram mulheres estranhas: e alguns d'elles tinham mulheres de quem alcançaram filhos.
