Acts 2
1 And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place:
Et, quand vint le jour de la Pentecôte, ils étaient tous ensemble dans le même lieu,
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
et il survint tout à coup du ciel un bruit semblable à celui d'un violent coup de vent, et il remplit toute la maison où ils étaient assis,
3 And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them:
et des langues séparées, qui semblaient de feu, leur apparurent, et il s'en posa une sur chacun d'eux,
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.
et ils furent tous remplis d'esprit saint, et ils commencèrent à parler en d'autres langues, selon que l'esprit leur donnait de s'exprimer.
5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Or, se trouvaient établis à Jérusalem des Juifs pieux venus de chez toutes les nations qui habitent sous le ciel;
6 And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue.
et, quand ce bruit eut eu lieu, la multitude accourut, et elle fut confondue parce que chacun les entendait parler dans son propre idiome.
7 And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these, that speak, Galileans?
Or tous étaient stupéfaits et ils disaient dans leur étonnement: « Voici, tous ces gens-là qui parlent ne sont-ils pas des Galiléens?
8 And how have we heard, every man our own tongue wherein we were born?
Et comment chacun de nous entend-il dans son idiome natal —
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Parthes et Mèdes et Élamites, et ceux qui habitent la Mésopotamie, la Judée et la Cappadoce, le Pont et l'Asie, la Phrygie et la Pamphylie, l'Egypte
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome,
et les régions de la Libye voisine de Cyrène, et les voyageurs venus de Rome, Juifs et prosélytes, Crétois et Arabes, —
11 Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.
comment les entendons-nous parler dans nos propres langues des hauts faits de Dieu? »
12 And they were all astonished, and wondered, saying one to another: What meaneth this?
Or tous étaient stupéfaits et incertains, se disant l'un à l'autre: « Que veut dire ceci? »
13 But others mocking, said: These men are full of new wine.
tandis que d'autres raillaient et disaient: « C'est qu'ils sont pleins de vin doux. »
14 But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: Ye men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you, and with your ears receive my words.
Mais Pierre s'étant avancé avec les onze éleva la voix et leur dit: « Juifs, et vous tous qui habitez Jérusalem, comprenez bien ceci et prêtez l'oreille à mes paroles,
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day:
car ces gens ne sont pas ivres, comme vous le supposez, puisque c'est la troisième heure du jour,
16 But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel:
mais ce qui se passe est ce qui a été prédit par l'entremise du prophète Joël:
17 And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord, ) I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
« Et il arrivera après cela, dit Dieu, que Je répandrai de Mon esprit sur toute chair, et vos fils et vos filles prophétiseront, et vos jeunes gens verront des visions, et vos vieillards auront des songes;
18 And upon my servants indeed, and upon my handmaids will I pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy.
et certes en ces jours-là Je répandrai de Mon esprit sur Mes serviteurs et sur Mes servantes, et ils prophétiseront;
19 And I will shew wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath: blood and fire, and vapour of smoke.
et J'opérerai des prodiges en haut dans le ciel, et des miracles en bas sur la terre, du sang et du feu et de la vapeur de fumée;
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord come.
le soleil sera changé en ténèbres et la lune en sang, avant qu'arrive la grande et éclatante journée du Seigneur;
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
et il arrivera que quiconque aura invoqué le nom du Seigneur sera sauvé. »
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:
Israélites, écoutez mes paroles que voici: Jésus le Nazoréen, cet homme accrédité de Dieu auprès de vous par des miracles, des prodiges et des signes que Dieu a opérés par son moyen au milieu de vous, comme vous le savez vous-mêmes,
23 This same being delivered up, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.
c'est lui que vous avez fait périr en le crucifiant par la main des impies, après qu'il eut été livré selon le dessein arrêté et la prescience de Dieu,
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that he should be holden by it. (questioned)
et c'est lui que Dieu a ressuscité en dissipant les douleurs de la mort, en la puissance de laquelle il n'était, en effet, pas possible qu'il fût retenu;
25 For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved.
car David dit à propos de lui: « J'ai toujours vu le Seigneur devant moi, parce qu'il se tient à ma droite, afin que je ne sois point ébranlé,
26 For this my heart hath been glad, and any tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.
c'est pourquoi mon cœur a été dans la joie et ma langue dans l'allégresse; ma chair aussi se reposera encore avec espérance,
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, nor suffer thy Holy One to see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
parce que Tu n'abandonneras pas mon âme dans le séjour des morts et que Tu ne permettras point que celui qui T'est consacré voie la corruption. (Hadēs g86)
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life: thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
Tu m'as fais connaître les routes de la vie, Tu me combleras de joie par Ta présence. »
29 Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David; that he died, and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present day.
Frères, il est permis de vous dire avec assurance, quant au patriarche David, qu'il est mort et qu'il a été enterré; aussi bien son sépulcre subsiste-t-il parmi nous jusques à ce jour.
30 Whereas therefore he was a prophet, and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne.
Étant donc prophète, et sachant que Dieu lui avait juré avec serment qu'il ferait asseoir un fruit de ses reins sur son trône,
31 Foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of Christ. For neither was he left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
c'est par prévision qu'il a parlé de la résurrection du Christ, car celui-ci n'a pas été abandonné dans le séjour des morts et sa chair n'a pas vu la corruption; (Hadēs g86)
32 This Jesus hath God raised again, whereof all we are witnesses.
c'est ce Jésus que Dieu a ressuscité, ce dont, nous tous, nous sommes témoins.
33 Being exalted therefore by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath poured forth this which you see and hear.
Ayant donc été élevé à la droite de Dieu, et ayant reçu du Père l'esprit saint qui avait été promis, il a répandu celui-ci comme vous-mêmes aussi vous le voyez et vous l'entendez.
34 For David ascended not into heaven; but he himself said: The Lord said to my Lord, sit thou on my right hand,
David, en effet, n'est point monté dans les cieux, mais il dit lui-même: « Le Seigneur a dit à mon seigneur: Assieds-toi à Ma droite,
35 Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.
jusqu'à ce que J'aie fait de tes ennemis un marchepied pour tes pieds. »
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know most certainly, that God hath made both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus, whom you have crucified.
Que toute la maison d'Israël sache donc avec certitude que Dieu l'a fait et seigneur, et Christ, ce Jésus que vous, vous avez crucifié. »
37 Now when they had heard these things, they had compunction in their heart, and said to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles: What shall we do, men and brethren?
Ce qu'ayant ouï, ils furent piqués au cœur, et ils dirent à Pierre et aux autres apôtres: « Frères, qu'avons-nous à faire? »
38 But Peter said to them: Do penance, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Sur quoi Pierre s'adressant à eux: « Repentez-vous, et que chacun de vous se fasse baptiser au nom de Jésus-Christ, pour la rémission de ses péchés, et vous recevrez le don du saint esprit;
39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are far off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call.
car c'est pour vous qu'est la promesse, et pour vos enfants, et pour tous ceux au loin qu'aura appelés à Lui le Seigneur notre Dieu. »
40 And with very many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation.
Et il rendait témoignage par plusieurs autres paroles, et il les exhortait en disant: « Sauvez-vous en quittant cette génération pervertie. »
41 They therefore that received his word, were baptized; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.
Ceux donc qui eurent à gré ses paroles se firent baptiser, et il y eut ce jour-là environ trois mille personnes qui furent agrégées.
42 And they were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles, and in the communication of the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Cependant ils étaient assidus à l'enseignement des apôtres et aux réunions communes, à la fraction du pain et aux prières.
43 And fear came upon every soul: many wonders also and signs were done by the apostles in Jerusalem, and there was great fear in all.
Or chacun était dans la crainte; mais il se faisait beaucoup de prodiges et de miracles par les apôtres.
44 And all they that believed, were together, and had all things common.
Et tous ceux qui avaient cru avaient en un même lieu toutes choses en commun,
45 Their possessions and goods they sold, and divided them to all, according as every one had need.
et ils vendaient leurs propriétés et leurs biens, et ils les distribuaient à tous selon les besoins de chacun.
46 And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart;
Tous les jours ils étaient ensemble assidus dans le temple, et, rompant le pain dans les maisons, ils prenaient leur nourriture avec allégresse et simplicité de cœur,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord increased daily together such as should be saved.
louant Dieu, et trouvant faveur auprès de tout le peuple. Cependant le Seigneur agrégeait journellement au même corps ceux qui étaient sauvés.
