2 Kings 16

1 In the seventeenth year of Phacee the son of Romelia reigned Achaz the son of Joatham king of Juda.

El año diez y siete de Facee, hijo de Romelías, comenzó a reinar Acaz, hijo de Joatam, rey de Judá.

2 Achaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: he did not that which was pleasing in the sight of the Lord his God, as David his father.

Tenía Acaz veinte años cuando entró a reinar, y reinó diez y seis años en Jerusalén. No obró lo que era recto a los ojos de Yahvé su Dios, como lo había hecho su padre David,

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel: moreover he consecrated also his son, making him pass through the fire according to the idols of the nations: which the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel.

sino que siguió los caminos de los reyes de Israel; y además de eso, hizo pasar por el fuego a su propio hijo, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé había expulsado ante los hijos de Israel.

4 He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places and on the hills, and under every green tree.

Ofreció también sacrificios y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, sobre las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 Then Basin king of Syria, and Phacee son of Romelia king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to fight: and they besieged Achaz, but were not able to overcome him.

Entonces Rasín, rey de Siria, y Facee, hijo de Romelías, rey de Israel, subieron contra Jerusalén para atacarla, y pusieron sitio a Acaz; pero no pudieron vencerlo.

6 At that time Rasin king of Syria restored Aila to Syria, and drove the men of Juda out of Aila: and the Edomites came into Aila, and dwelt there unto this day.

En aquel tiempo, Rasín, rey de Siria, reconquistó a Elat para Siria, expulsando a los judíos de Elat; y vinieron a Elat los idumeos, que habitan allí hasta el día de hoy.

7 And Achaz sent messengers to Theglathphalasar king of the Assyrians, saying: I am thy servant, and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who are risen up together against me.

Entonces envió Acaz mensajeros a Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, para decirle: “Soy tu siervo e hijo tuyo. Sube y líbrame del poder del rey de Siria y del poder del rey de Israel, que se han levantado contra mí.”

8 And when he had gathered together the silver and gold that could be found in the house of the Lord, and in the king’s treasures, he sent it for a present to the king of the Assyrians.

Y tomó Acaz la plata y el oro que se hallaban en la Casa de Yahvé y en los tesoros de la casa real, y lo mandó como presente al rey de Asiria.

9 And he agreed to his desire: for the king of the Assyrians went up against Damascus, and laid it waste: and he carried away the inhabitants thereof to Cyrene, but Basin he slew.

El rey de Asiria le dio oídos y subió contra Damasco, la tomó y deportó (sus habitantes) a Kir, dando muerte a Rasín.

10 And king Achaz went to Damascus to meet Theglathphalasar king of the Assyrians, and when he had seen the altar of Damascus, king Achaz sent to Urias the priest a pattern of it, and its likeness according to all the work thereof.

Cuando el rey Acaz fue a Damasco para recibir a Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, vio el altar que había en Damasco, y envió al sacerdote Urías el modelo y el diseño exacto de aquel altar.

11 And Urias the priest built an altar according to all that king Achaz had commanded from Damascus, so did Urias the priest, until king Achaz came from Damascus.

Entonces el sacerdote Urías edificó un altar similar en todo al (modelo) que el rey Acaz le había enviado de Damasco; e hizo Urías el altar, antes de que el rey Acaz volviese de Damasco.

12 And when the king was come from Damascus, he saw the altar and worshipped it: and went up and offered holocausts, and his own sacrifice.

Después de su vuelta de Damasco, el rey inspeccionó el altar; y acercándose al altar, subió al mismo.

13 And offered libations and poured the blood of the peace offerings, which he had offered upon the altar.

Y quemando su holocausto y su oblación derramó también su libación y la sangre de sus sacrificios pacíficos sobre el altar.

14 But the altar of brass that was before the Lord, he removed from the face of the temple, and from the place of the altar, and from the place of the temple of the Lord: and he set it at the side of the altar toward the north.

Trasladó asimismo el altar de bronce que estaba delante de Yahvé (apartándolo) de delante de la Casa, de entre el altar (nuevo) y la Casa de Yahvé, y lo colocó al lado de (su) altar, hacia el norte.

15 And king Achaz commanded Urias the priest saying: Upon the great altar offer the morning holocaust, and the evening sacrifice, and the king’s holocaust, and his sacrifice, and the holocaust of the whole people of the land, and their sacrifices, and their libations: and all the blood of the holocaust, and all the blood of the victim thou shalt pour out upon it: but the altar of brass shall be ready at my pleasure.

Después dio el rey Acaz al sacerdote Urías esta orden: “Sobre el altar grande harás quemar el holocausto de la mañana y la oblación de la tarde, el holocausto del rey y su oblación, los holocaustos de todo el pueblo del país y sus oblaciones, y derramarás sobre él sus libaciones y toda la sangre de los holocaustos y toda la sangre de los (demás) sacrificios. El altar de bronce, empero, está a mi disposición.”

16 So Urias the priest did according to all that king Achaz had commanded him.

El sacerdote Urías hizo todo lo que el rey Acaz le había mandado.

17 And king Achaz took away the graven bases, and the laver that was upon them: and he took down the sea from the brazen oxen that held it up, and put it upon a pavement of stone.

El rey Acaz cortó también las láminas de las basas, de las cuales quitó los recipientes; bajó el mar de sobre los toros de bronce que lo sostenían, y lo asentó sobre un pavimento enlosado.

18 The Musach also for the sabbath, which he had built in the temple: and the king’s entry from without he turned into the temple of the Lord, because of the king of the Assyrians.

Por consideración al rey de Asiria, quitó de la Casa de Yahvé también el pórtico del sábado, que se había edificado en la Casa, juntamente con la entrada exterior del rey.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Achaz, which he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?

Las demás cosas que hizo Acaz ¿no están escritas en los anales de los reyes de Judá?

20 And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David, and Ezechias his son reigned in his stead.

Acaz se durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Ezequías.
