Revelation 13

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea; and I saw a beast rising out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads names of blasphemy.

Puis je me tins sur le sable de la mer. Je vis monter de la mer une bête qui avait dix cornes et sept têtes. Sur ses cornes étaient dix diadèmes, et sur ses têtes, des noms de blasphème.

2 And the beast which I saw was like to a leopardess, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as a lion's mouth; and the dragon gave to it his power, and his throne, and great authority;

La bête que je vis était semblable à un léopard, ses pieds étaient comme ceux d'un ours, et sa gueule comme la gueule d'un lion. Le dragon lui donna sa puissance, son trône, et une grande autorité.

3 and one of his heads [was] as slain to death, and his wound of death had been healed: and the whole earth wondered after the beast.

L'une de ses têtes semblait avoir été blessée mortellement. Sa blessure mortelle fut guérie, et toute la terre s'émerveilla devant la bête.

4 And they did homage to the dragon, because he gave the authority to the beast; and they did homage to the beast, saying, Who [is] like to the beast? and who can make war with it?

Ils adorèrent le dragon, parce qu'il avait donné son autorité à la bête; et ils adorèrent la bête, en disant: « Qui est semblable à la bête? Qui est capable de lui faire la guerre? »

5 And there was given to it a mouth, speaking great things and blasphemies; and there was given to it authority to pursue its career forty-two months.

Il lui fut donné une bouche qui proférait de grandes choses et des blasphèmes. Le pouvoir de faire la guerre pendant quarante-deux mois lui fut donné.

6 And it opened its mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name and his tabernacle, and those who have their tabernacle in the heaven.

Il ouvrit sa bouche pour blasphémer contre Dieu, pour blasphémer son nom, sa demeure et ceux qui habitent dans le ciel.

7 And there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them; and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and people, and tongue, and nation;

Il lui fut donné de faire la guerre aux saints et de les vaincre. L'autorité sur toute tribu, tout peuple, toute langue et toute nation lui a été donnée.

8 and all that dwell on the earth shall do it homage, [every one] whose name had not been written from [the] founding of [the] world in the book of life of the slain Lamb.

Tous les habitants de la terre l'adoreront, tous ceux dont le nom n'a pas été inscrit dès la fondation du monde dans le livre de vie de l'agneau qui a été tué.

9 If any one has an ear, let him hear.

Si quelqu'un a des oreilles, qu'il entende.

10 If any one [leads] into captivity, he goes into captivity. If any one shall kill with [the] sword, he must with [the] sword be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

Si quelqu'un doit aller en captivité, il ira en captivité. Si quelqu'un doit être tué par l'épée, il doit être tué. Voilà l'endurance et la foi des saints.

11 And I saw another beast rising out of the earth; and it had two horns like to a lamb, and spake as a dragon;

Je vis monter de la terre une autre bête. Elle avait deux cornes comme un agneau et elle parlait comme un dragon.

12 and it exercises all the authority of the first beast before it, and causes the earth and those that dwell in it to do homage to the first beast, whose wound of death was healed.

Elle exerce en sa présence toute l'autorité de la première bête. Elle oblige la terre et ses habitants à adorer la première bête, dont la blessure mortelle a été guérie.

13 And it works great signs, that it should cause even fire to come down from heaven to the earth before men.

Elle accomplit de grands prodiges, faisant même descendre du feu du ciel sur la terre, aux yeux des gens.

14 And it deceives those that dwell upon the earth by reason of the signs which it was given to it to work before the beast, saying to those that dwell upon the earth to make an image to the beast, which has the wound of the sword, and lived.

Elle séduit mon peuple qui habite sur la terre, à cause des signes qu'il lui a été donné d'accomplir devant la bête, en disant aux habitants de la terre de faire une image à la bête qui a eu la blessure de l'épée et qui a vécu.

15 And it was given to it to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should also speak, and should cause that as many as should not do homage to the image of the beast should be killed.

Il lui fut donné de faire respirer l'image de la bête, afin que l'image de la bête parle et fasse mourir tous ceux qui n'adoreraient pas l'image de la bête.

16 And it causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bondmen, that they should give them a mark upon their right hand or upon their forehead;

Elle fait en sorte que tous, petits et grands, riches et pauvres, libres et esclaves, reçoivent des marques sur la main droite ou sur le front;

17 and that no one should be able to buy or sell save he that had the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of its name.

et que personne ne puisse acheter ou vendre sans avoir cette marque, qui est le nom de la bête ou le nombre de son nom.

18 Here is wisdom. He that has understanding let him count the number of the beast: for it is a man's number; and its number [is] six hundred [and] sixty-six.

Voici la sagesse. Que celui qui a de l'intelligence calcule le nombre de la bête, car c'est le nombre d'un homme. Son nombre est de six cent soixante-six.
