Psalms 81

1 To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing ye joyously unto God our strength, shout aloud unto the God of Jacob;

Haz un canto a Dios, nuestra fortaleza: lanza un alegre clamor al Dios de Jacob!

2 Raise a song, and sound the tambour, the pleasant harp with the lute.

Canten al son del pandero, con él arpa y él salterio.

3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the set time, on our feast day:

Toquen el cuerno en el tiempo de la luna nueva, en la luna llena, en nuestro día de fiesta santa:

4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob;

Porque esta es la ley de Israel, y la ley del Dios de Jacob.

5 He ordained it in Joseph [for] a testimony, when he went forth over the land of Egypt, [where] I heard a language that I knew not.

Se lo dio a José como testigo cuando salió a la tierra de Egipto; entonces las palabras de una extraña lengua sonaban en mis oídos.

6 I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket.

Bajé el peso de su espalda; sus manos se hicieron libres de las cestas.

7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)

Tú soltaste un grito en tu tribulación, y yo te hice libre; Te di una respuesta en el lugar secreto del trueno; Te puse a prueba en las aguas de Meribah. (Selah)

8 Hear, my people, and I will testify unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!

Escucha, pueblo mío, y te daré mi palabra, oh Israel, si solo haces lo que digo.

9 There shall no strange god be in thee, neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.

No habrá ningún dios extraño entre ustedes; no debes rendir culto a ningún otro dios.

10 I am Jehovah thy God, that brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Yo soy el Señor tu Dios, que te subío de la tierra de Egipto; abre tu boca, para que yo te dé de comer.

11 But my people hearkened not to my voice, and Israel would none of me.

Pero mi pueblo no escuchó mi voz; Israel no quiso obedecerme, nada que ver conmigo.

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' stubbornness: they walked after their own counsels.

Así que los entregué a los deseos de sus corazones; para que puedan ir tras sus malvados propósitos.

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, that Israel had walked in my ways!

Si tan solo mi gente me escuchara, caminando en mis caminos!

14 I would soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

Yo rápidamente vencería a sus enemigos: mi mano se volvería contra aquellos que hacen la guerra contra ellos.

15 The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever.

Los que odiaban al Señor serían quebrantados, y su destrucción sería eterna.

16 And he would have fed them with the finest of wheat; yea, with honey out of the rock would I have satisfied thee.

Yo les daría el mejor grano por comida; estarías lleno de miel de la roca.
