Psalms 143
1 A Psalm of David. Jehovah, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, in thy righteousness.
Psaume de David. Seigneur, écoute ma prière, prête l’oreille à mes supplications, dans ta fidélité réponds-moi, et dans ta bienveillance:
2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.
n’entre pas en jugement avec ton serviteur, car nul vivant ne peut se trouver juste à tes yeux.
3 For the enemy persecuteth my soul: he hath crushed my life down to the earth; he hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.
C’Est que l’ennemi s’est jeté à ma poursuite, a broyé ma vie sur le sol, me plongeant dans les ténèbres, comme ceux qui, dès longtemps, appartiennent à la mort.
4 And my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
Mon esprit tombe en défaillance en moi, en mon sein mon cœur est frappé de stupeur.
5 I remember the days of old: I meditate on all thy doing; I muse on the work of thy hands.
J’Évoque le souvenir des jours antiques, je pense à l’ensemble de tes actes, et médite sur l’œuvre de tes mains.
6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul, as a parched land, [thirsteth] after thee. (Selah)
Je tends les mains vers toi; mon âme, telle une terre aride, a soif de toi. (Sélah)
7 Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, or I shall be like unto them that go down into the pit.
Sans retard exauce-moi, ô Seigneur, mon esprit se consume; ne me dérobe point ta face, sinon je ressemblerai à ceux qui descendent dans la tombe.
8 Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning, for in thee do I confide; make me to know the way wherein I should walk, for unto thee do I lift up my soul.
Dès le matin, annonce-moi ta grâce, car j’ai mis confiance en toi; fais-moi connaître le chemin que je dois suivre, car vers toi j’élève mon âme.
9 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: unto thee do I flee for refuge.
Délivre-moi de mes ennemis, Eternel, c’est en toi que je cherche un abri,
10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: let thy good Spirit lead me in a plain country.
Enseigne-moi à accomplir ta volonté, car c’est toi qui es mon Dieu; que ton esprit bienveillant me guide sur un sol uni!
11 Revive me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble;
En faveur de ton nom, Eternel, tu me conserveras en vie; dans ta justice, tu libéreras mon âme de la détresse.
12 And in thy loving-kindness cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that oppress my soul: for I am thy servant.
Dans ta bonté, tu anéantiras mes ennemis, tu feras périr tous ceux qui me sont hostiles, car je suis ton serviteur.
