Psalms 139
1 To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me].
Dem Musikmeister. Von David. Ein Psalm. Jahwe, du erforschest und kennst mich.
2 Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off;
Du weißt mein Sitzen und mein Aufstehen; du verstehst meine Gedanken von ferne.
3 Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways;
Mein Gehen und mein Liegen prüfst du und bist vertraut mit allen meinen Wegen.
4 For there is not yet a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.
Denn es ist kein Wort auf meiner Zunge, das du, Jahwe, nicht schon durchaus kennst.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.
Hinten und vorn hast du mich umschlossen und legtest auf mich deine Hand.
6 O knowledge too wonderful for me! it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.
Die Erkenntnis ist mir zu wunderbar, zu hoch - ich werde ihrer nicht mächtig!
7 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? and whither flee from thy presence?
Wohin soll ich gehen vor deinem Geist und wohin fliehen vor deinem Angesicht?
8 If I ascend up into the heavens thou art there; or if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou [art there]; (Sheol h7585)
Stiege ich zum Himmel empor, so bist du dort, und machte ich die Unterwelt zu meinem Lager, du bist da! (Sheol h7585)
9 [If] I take the wings of the dawn [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Nähme ich Flügel der Morgenröte, ließe mich nieder am äußersten Ende des Meers,
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
auch da würde deine Hand mich führen, deine Rechte mich erfassen.
11 And if I say, Surely darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night;
Spräche ich: “Eitel Finsternis möge mich bedecken, und zu Nacht werde das Licht um mich her:
12 Even darkness hideth not from thee, and the night shineth as the day: the darkness is as the light.
so würde auch die Finsternis für dich nicht finster sein und die Nacht leuchten wie der Tag: die Finsternis ist wie das Licht.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.
Denn du hast mein Innerstes geschaffen, wobst mich im Mutterleibe.
14 I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
Ich preise dich dafür, daß ich erstaunenswürdig ausgezeichnet bin: wunderbar sind deine Werke, und meine Seele erkennt das wohl.
15 My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.
Mein Gebein war dir nicht verhohlen, als ich im Verborgenen gemacht, in Erdentiefen gewirkt ward.
16 Thine eyes did see my unformed substance, and in thy book all [my members] were written; [during many] days were they fashioned, when [as yet] there was none of them.
Deine Augen sahen mich, als ich noch ein ungestaltetes Klümpchen war; Tage wurden gebildet und insgesamt in dein Buch geschrieben, als noch keiner von ihnen da war.
17 But how precious are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
Aber wie schwer sind mir, o Gott, deine Gedanken, wie gewaltig ihre Summen!
18 [If] I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee.
Wollte ich sie zählen, so würden ihrer mehr sein, als der Sandkörner; erwache ich, so bin ich noch bei dir.
19 Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O God! And ye men of blood, depart from me.
Ach, daß du doch die Gottlosen töten wolltest, Gott, und die Blutgierigen von mir weichen müßten,
20 For they speak of thee wickedly, they take [thy name] in vain, thine enemies.
die sich arglistig wider dich empören, die deinen Namen freventlich aussprechen.
21 Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee?
Sollte ich nicht hassen, Jahwe, die dich hassen, und nicht Ekel empfinden an denen, die sich wider dich auflehnen?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I account them mine enemies.
Mit vollendetem Hasse hasse ich sie, als Feinde gelten sie mir.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts;
Erforsche mich, Gott, und erkenne mein Herz; prüfe mich und erkenne meine Gedanken!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.
Und siehe, ob ein Weg, der zu Schmerzen führt, bei mir zu finden sei, und leite mich auf ewigem Wege!
