< Psalms 108 >

1 A Song, a Psalm of David. My heart is fixed, O God: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms, even [with] my glory.
A song. A psalm of David. God, I have complete confidence in you! My whole being sings praises to you!
2 Awake, lute and harp: I will wake the dawn.
Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn!
3 I will give thee thanks among the peoples, O Jehovah; of thee will I sing psalms among the nations:
I will thank you among the peoples, Lord, I will sing your praises among the nations.
4 For thy loving-kindness is great above the heavens, and thy truth is unto the clouds.
For your trustworthy love reaches higher than the heavens, your faithfulness is higher than the clouds.
5 Be thou exalted above the heavens, O God, and thy glory above all the earth.
God, your greatness is above the highest heavens; and your glory is over all the earth!
6 That thy beloved ones may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.
Rescue those you love! Answer us, and save us by your power!
7 God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
God has spoken from his Temple: “Triumphantly I divide up Shechem, and portion out the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;
Both Gilead and Manasseh belong to me. Ephraim is my helmet, and Judah is my scepter.
9 Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; over Philistia will I shout aloud.
I will treat Moab as my washbasin; I will place my sandal on Edom; I will shout in triumph over Philistia.”
10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom?
Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me into Edom?
11 [Wilt] not [thou], O God, who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?
Have you rejected us, God? Won't you go out with our armies?
12 Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance.
Please give us help against our enemies, for human help is worthless.
13 Through God we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries.
Our strength is in God, and he will crush our enemies.
