Proverbs 4
1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know intelligence;
Ακούσατε, τέκνα, παιδείαν πατρός, και προσέχετε να μάθητε σύνεσιν.
2 for I give you good doctrine: forsake ye not my law.
Διότι δίδω εις εσάς καλήν διδασκαλίαν· μη εγκαταλίπητε τον νόμον μου.
3 For I was a son unto my father, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother.
Διότι και εγώ εστάθην υιός του πατρός μου, αγαπητός και μονογενής ενώπιον της μητρός μου·
4 And he taught me, and said unto me, Let thy heart retain my words; keep my commandments and live.
και με εδίδασκε και μοι έλεγεν, Ας κρατή η καρδία σου τους λόγους μου· φύλαττε τας εντολάς μου και θέλεις ζήσει.
5 Get wisdom, get intelligence: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Απόκτησον σοφίαν, απόκτησον σύνεσιν· μη λησμονήσης αυτήν, μηδέ εκκλίνης από των λόγων του στόματός μου·
6 Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee; love her, and she shall preserve thee.
μη εγκαταλίπης αυτήν, και θέλει σε περιφυλάττει· αγάπα αυτήν, και θέλει σε διατηρεί.
7 The beginning of wisdom [is], Get wisdom; and with all thy getting get intelligence.
Η σοφία είναι το πρώτιστον· απόκτησον σοφίαν· και υπέρ πάσαν απόκτησίν σου απόκτησον σύνεσιν.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her.
Ανάλαβε αυτήν και θέλει σε υψώσει· θέλει σε δοξάσει, όταν εναγκαλισθής αυτήν.
9 She shall give to thy head a garland of grace; a crown of glory will she bestow upon thee.
Θέλει επιθέσει επί την κεφαλήν σου στέφανον χαρίτων· θέλει σοι δώσει διάδημα δόξης.
10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of thy life shall be multiplied.
Άκουε, υιέ μου, και δέχθητι τους λόγους μου· και θέλουσι πληθυνθή τα έτη της ζωής σου.
11 I will teach thee in the way of wisdom, I will lead thee in paths of uprightness.
Σε διδάσκω την οδόν της σοφίας· σε εμβιβάζω εις τρίβους ευθείας.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Όταν περιπατής, τα βήματά σου δεν θέλουσιν είσθαι εστενοχωρημένα· και όταν τρέχης, δεν θέλεις προσκόψει.
13 Take fast hold of instruction, let [her] not go: keep her, for she is thy life.
Δράξον την παιδείαν, μη αφήσης αυτήν· φύλαττε αυτήν, διότι είναι η ζωή σου.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil [men]:
Μη εισέλθης εις την τρίβον των ασεβών, και μη υπάγης εις την οδόν των πονηρών.
15 avoid it, pass not by it; turn from it, and pass away.
Απόφευγε αυτήν, μη περάσης δι' αυτής, έκκλινον απ' αυτής και διάβα.
16 For they sleep not except they have done mischief, and their sleep is taken away unless they have caused [some] to fall.
Διότι αυτοί δεν κοιμώνται, εάν δεν κακοποιήσωσι· και ο ύπνος αυτών αφαιρείται, εάν δεν υποσκελίσωσιν.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
Επειδή τρώγουσιν άρτον ασεβείας και πίνουσιν οίνον δυναστείας.
18 But the path of the righteous is as the shining light, going on and brightening until the day be fully come.
Η οδός όμως των δικαίων είναι ως το λαμπρόν φως, το φέγγον επί μάλλον και μάλλον, εωσού γείνη τελεία ημέρα.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
Η οδός των ασεβών είναι ως το σκότος· δεν γνωρίζουσι που προσκόπτουσιν.
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Υιέ μου, πρόσεχε εις τας ρήσεις μου· κλίνον το ωτίον σου εις τα λόγιά μου.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart.
Ας μη απομακρυνθώσιν από των οφθαλμών σου· φύλαττε αυτά εν τη καρδία σου·
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
διότι είναι ζωή εις τους ευρίσκοντας αυτά και ίασις εις πάσαν αυτών την σάρκα.
23 Keep thy heart more than anything that is guarded; for out of it are the issues of life.
Μετά πάσης φυλάξεως φύλαττε την καρδίαν σου· διότι εκ ταύτης προέρχονται αι εκβάσεις της ζωής.
24 Put away from thee perverseness of mouth, and corrupt lips put far from thee.
Απόβαλε από σου σκολιότητα στόματος, και διαστροφήν χειλέων απομάκρυνον από σου.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Οι οφθαλμοί σου ας βλέπωσιν ορθά, και τα βλέφαρά σου ας κατευθύνωνται έμπροσθέν σου.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be well-ordered.
Στάθμιζε το βάδισμα των ποδών σου, και πάσαι αι οδοί σου θέλουσι κατευθυνθή.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.
Μη εκκλίνης δεξιά ή αριστερά· απόστρεψον τον πόδα σου από κακού.
