Mark 14
1 Now the passover and the [feast of] unleavened bread was after two days. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might seize him by subtlety and kill him.
Or la Pâque et la fête des pains sans levain devait avoir lieu dans deux jours, et les grands prêtres et les scribes cherchaient de quelle manière ils pourraient par ruse s'emparer de lui et le mettre à mort;
2 For they said, Not in the feast, lest perhaps there be a tumult of the people.
car ils disaient: « Que ce ne soit pas pendant la fête, de peur qu'il n'y ait une émeute du peuple. »
3 And when he was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he lay at table, there came a woman having an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly; and having broken the alabaster flask, she poured it out upon his head.
Et comme il se trouvait, à Béthanie dans la maison de Simon le lépreux, pendant qu'il était à table survient une femme tenant une fiole d'albâtre qui renfermait un parfum de véritable nard, très précieux; ayant brisé la fiole, elle la lui versa sur la tête.
4 And there were some indignant in themselves, and saying, Why has this waste been made of the ointment?
Mais il y avait là des gens qui s'indignaient entre eux: « Pourquoi cette profusion de parfum s'est-elle faite?
5 for this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor. And they spoke very angrily at her.
Car ce parfum pouvait être vendu plus de trois cents deniers, et être donné aux pauvres; » et ils le tançaient vertement.
6 But Jesus said, Let her alone; why do ye trouble her? she has wrought a good work as to me;
Mais Jésus dit: « Laissez-la faire; pourquoi lui faites-vous de la peine? Elle a accompli une bonne œuvre en ma personne,
7 for ye have the poor always with you, and whenever ye would ye can do them good; but me ye have not always.
en effet vous devez toujours avoir les pauvres avec vous, et quand vous le voudrez vous pouvez toujours leur faire du bien; mais moi vous ne devez pas m'avoir toujours.
8 What she could she has done. She has beforehand anointed my body for the burial.
Ce qu'elle a pu, elle l'a fait; elle s'est occupée d'avance de parfumer mon corps pour ma sépulture.
9 And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, what this [woman] has done shall be also spoken of for a memorial of her.
Or, en vérité je vous déclare que où que l'évangile soit prêché dans le monde entier, on parlera aussi de ce qu'elle a fait, en mémoire d'elle. »
10 And Judas Iscariote, one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests that he might deliver him up to them;
Et Judas Iscarioth, l'un des douze, se rendit auprès des grands prêtres pour le leur livrer;
11 and they, when they heard it, rejoiced, and promised him to give money. And he sought how he could opportunely deliver him up.
ce qu'ayant ouï ils furent dans la joie, et ils promirent de lui donner de l'argent; et il cherchait comment il aurait une bonne occasion de le livrer.
12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they slew the passover, his disciples say to him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the passover?
Et le premier jour de la fête des pains sans levain, époque où l'on immolait la pâque, ses disciples lui disent: « Où veux-tu que nous allions faire les préparatifs pour que tu manges la pâque? »
13 And he sends two of his disciples, and says to them, Go into the city, and a man shall meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him.
Et il dépêcha deux de ses disciples, et leur dit: « Allez à la ville, et vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d'eau, suivez-le,
14 And wheresoever he enters, say to the master of the house, The Teacher says, Where is my guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
et où que ce soit qu'il entre, dites au chef de famille: « Le maître dit: Où est la chambre où je dois manger la pâque avec mes disciples? »
15 and he will shew you a large upper room furnished ready. There make ready for us.
Et lui-même vous montrera une grande salle à manger garnie de lits, toute prête; faites-y les préparatifs pour nous. »
16 And his disciples went away and came into the city, and found as he had said to them; and they made ready the passover.
Et les disciples partirent et vinrent à la ville; et ils trouvèrent tout comme il le leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la pâque.
17 And when evening was come, he comes with the twelve.
Et quand le soir fut venu, il arrive avec les douze.
18 And as they lay at table and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say to you, One of you shall deliver me up; he who is eating with me.
Et pendant qu'ils étaient à table et qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus dit: « En vérité je vous déclare que l'un d'entre vous qui mangez avec moi me livrera. »
19 And they began to be grieved, and to say to him, one by one, Is it I? [and another, Is it I?]
Ils commencèrent à être saisis de tristesse et à lui dire l'un après l'autre: « Est-ce moi? »
20 But he answered and said to them, One of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
Mais il leur dit: « C'est un des douze, celui qui trempe avec moi dans le plat.
21 The Son of man goes indeed as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up; [it were] good for that man if he had not been born.
En effet le fils de l'homme s'en va, il est vrai, selon ce qui est écrit de lui; mais malheur à cet homme par qui le fils de l'homme est livré; il eût été bon pour lui que cet homme-là ne fût pas né. »
22 And as they were eating, Jesus, having taken bread, when he had blessed, broke [it], and gave [it] to them, and said, Take [this]: this is my body.
Et pendant qu'ils mangeaient, ayant pris du pain, il le rompit après avoir, prononcé une bénédiction, et il le leur donna et dit: « Prenez; ceci est mon corps. »
23 And having taken [the] cup, when he had given thanks, he gave [it] to them, and they all drank out of it.
Et ayant pris une coupe, il la leur donna après avoir rendu grâces, et ils en burent tous,
24 And he said to them, This is my blood, that of the [new] covenant, that shed for many.
et il dit: « Ceci est mon sang, celui de l'alliance, qui est versé pour plusieurs.
25 Verily I say to you, I will no more drink at all of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
En vérité je vous déclare que je ne boirai certainement plus du produit de la vigne, jusques à ce jour où j'en boirai du nouveau dans le royaume de Dieu. »
26 And having sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
Et après avoir chanté, ils sortirent pour se rendre à la montagne des Oliviers.
27 And Jesus says to them, All ye shall be offended, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad.
Et Jésus leur dit: « Vous trébucherez tous, car il est écrit: Je frapperai le berger et les brebis seront dispersées.
28 But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
Mais après être ressuscité, je vous précéderai en Galilée. »
29 But Peter said to him, Even if all should be offended, yet not I.
Or Pierre lui dit: « Quand même tous trébucheraient, non pas moi! »
30 And Jesus says to him, Verily I say to thee, that thou to-day, in this night, before [the] cock shall crow twice, thou shalt thrice deny me.
Et Jésus lui dit: « En vérité je te déclare que toi, aujourd'hui, cette nuit même, avant que le coq ait chanté deux fois, tu m'auras renié trois fois. »
31 But he said [so much] exceedingly the more, If I should have to die with thee, I will in no wise deny thee. And likewise said they all too.
Mais il disait de plus belle: « S'il me fallait mourir avec toi, je ne te renierai certainement pas; » et tous aussi disaient la même chose.
32 And they come to a place of which the name [is] Gethsemane, and he says to his disciples, Sit here while I shall pray.
Et ils arrivent dans un lieu dont le nom était Gétsémani, et il dit à ses disciples: « Asseyez-vous-jusques à ce que j'aie prié. »
33 And he takes with him Peter and James and John, and he began to be amazed and oppressed in spirit.
Et il prend avec lui Pierre et Jacques et Jean; et il commença à être épouvanté et abattu,
34 And he says to them, My soul is full of grief even unto death; abide here and watch.
et il leur dit: « Mon âme est triste jusques à la mort; demeurez ici et veillez. »
35 And, going forward a little, he fell upon the earth; and he prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.
Et s'étant un peu avancé, il tombait à terre, et il priait afin que, s'il était possible, le moment s'éloignât de lui,
36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee: take away this cup from me; but not what I will, but what thou [wilt].
et il disait: Abba, père, tout T'est possible; fais passer cette coupe loin de moi; mais non pas ce que moi je veux, mais ce que Toi! »
37 And he comes and finds them sleeping. And he says to Peter, Simon, dost thou sleep? Hast thou not been able to watch one hour?
Et il vient, et il les trouve endormis, et il dit à Pierre: « Simon, dors-tu? Tu n'as pas pu veiller une seule heure?
38 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh weak.
Veillez et priez, afin que vous n'entriez pas en tentation; l'esprit, il est vrai, est plein d'élan, mais la chair est faible. »
39 And going away, he prayed again, saying the same thing.
Et s'étant retiré derechef, il pria en répétant les mêmes paroles;
40 And returning, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they knew not what they should answer him.
et étant revenu de nouveau, il les trouva endormis; leurs yeux en effet étaient fort appesantis, et ils ne savaient que lui répondre.
41 And he comes the third time and says to them, Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
Et il revient pour la troisième fois, et il leur dit: « Dormez désormais et reposez-vous; il suffit; l'heure est venue; voici, le fils de l'homme va être livré aux mains des pécheurs;
42 Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh.
levez -vous, allons; voici, celui qui me livre s'approche. »
43 And immediately, while he was yet speaking, Judas comes up, [being] one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd, with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
Et aussitôt, pendant qu'il parlait, survient Judas, un des douze, et avec lui une foule armée d'épées et de bâtons, envoyée par les grands prêtres et les scribes et les anciens.
44 Now he that delivered him up had given them a sign between them, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; seize him, and lead [him] away safely.
Or celui qui le livrait leur avait donné un signe convenu, en disant: « Celui que j'embrasserai, c'est lui; saisissez-le, et emmenez-le sous bonne garde. »
45 And being come, straightway coming up to him, he says, Rabbi, Rabbi; and he covered him with kisses.
Et s'étant aussitôt approché de lui, il dit: « Rabbi, » et il lui donna un tendre baiser.
46 And they laid their hands upon him and seized him.
Quant à eux, ils mirent la main sur lui, et se saisirent de lui.
47 But a certain one of those who stood by, having drawn his sword, struck the bondman of the high priest, and took off his ear.
Mais l'un des assistants ayant tiré l'épée frappa l'esclave du grand prêtre et lui enleva l'oreille.
48 And Jesus answering said to them, Are ye come out as against a robber, with swords and sticks to take me?
Et Jésus prenant la parole leur dit: « Vous êtes sortis comme contre un brigand, avec des épées et des bâtons, pour me prendre;
49 I was daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me; but [it is] that the scriptures may be fulfilled.
tous les jours j'étais près de vous dans le temple occupé à enseigner, et il ne se saisissait pas de moi; mais c'est afin que les écritures fussent accomplies, »
50 And all left him and fled.
Et l'ayant abandonné ils s'enfuirent tous.
51 And a certain young man followed him with a linen cloth cast about his naked [body]; and [the young men] seize him;
Et un certain jeune homme le suivait, enveloppé d'un drap sur son corps nu, et on se saisit de lui;
52 but he, leaving the linen cloth behind [him], fled from them naked.
mais ayant abandonné son drap, il s'enfuit tout nu.
53 And they led away Jesus to the high priest. And there come together to him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
Et ils amenèrent Jésus auprès du grand prêtre; et chez lui se réunissent tous les grands prêtres et les anciens et les scribes.
54 And Peter followed him at a distance, till [he was] within the court of the high priest's palace; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself in the light [of the fire].
Et Pierre l'avait suivi de loin jusques dans l'intérieur de la cour du grand prêtre, et il se tenait assis avec les valets, et il se chauffait auprès du feu.
55 And the chief priests and the whole sanhedrim sought testimony against Jesus to cause him to be put to death, and did not find [any].
Or, les grands prêtres et le sanhédrin tout entier cherchaient un témoignage contre Jésus pour le faire mourir, et ils n'en trouvaient point.
56 For many bore false witness against him, and their testimony did not agree.
Car plusieurs rendaient contre lui de faux témoignages, et les témoignages n'étaient pas d'accord.
57 And certain persons rose up and bore false witness against him, saying,
Et quelques individus s'étant présentés rendaient contre lui un faux témoignage, en disant:
58 We heard him saying, I will destroy this temple which is made with hands, and in the course of three days I will build another not made with hands.
« Nous l'avons entendu dire: Je détruirai ce sanctuaire fait de main d'homme, et en trois jours j'en rebâtirai un autre qui ne sera pas fait de main d'homme. »
59 And neither thus did their testimony agree.
Et même sur ce point-là leur témoignage n'était pas d'accord.
60 And the high priest, rising up before them all, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? What do these testify against thee?
Et le grand prêtre s'étant levé au milieu de l'assemblée, interrogea Jésus en disant: « Ne réponds-tu rien? Car ceux-ci témoignent contre toi. »
61 But he was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and says to him, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Mais il gardait le silence et ne répondait rien. Le grand prêtre l'interrogeait derechef et lui dit: « Es-tu le Christ, le fils de Celui qui est béni? »
62 And Jesus said, I am, and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
Et Jésus dit: « Je le suis, et vous verrez le fils de l'homme assis à la droite de la Puissance, et venant avec les nuées du ciel. »
63 And the high priest, having rent his clothes, says, What need have we any more of witnesses?
Mais le grand prêtre ayant déchiré ses tuniques, dit: « Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins?
64 Ye have heard the blasphemy; what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
Vous avez ouï le blasphème. Que vous en semble? » Et ils jugèrent tous qu'il méritait la mort.
65 And some began to spit upon him, and cover up his face, and buffet him, and say to him, Prophesy; and the officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
Et quelques-uns se mirent à cracher sur lui, et à lui voiler le visage, et à le souffleter, et à lui dire: « Prophétise; » et les valets le reçurent à coups de verges.
66 And Peter being below in the palace-court, there comes one of the maids of the high priest,
Et pendant que Pierre était en bas dans la cour arrive une des servantes du grand prêtre,
67 and seeing Peter warming himself, having looked at him, says, And thou wast with the Nazarene, Jesus.
et ayant vu Pierre qui se chauffait, elle lui dit, après l'avoir regardé: « Toi aussi, tu étais avec le Nazarénien Jésus. »
68 But he denied, saying, I know not nor understand what thou sayest. And he went out into the vestibule; and a cock crew.
Mais il le nia en disant: « Je ne sais, ni ne comprends ce dont tu parles. » Et il se retira au dehors dans le vestibule.
69 And the maid, seeing him, again began to say to those that stood by, This is [one] of them.
Et la servante l'ayant vu dit aux assistants: « Celui-ci est des leurs. »
70 And he again denied. And again, after a little, those that stood by said to Peter, Truly thou art [one] of them, for also thou art a Galilean.
Mais il le niait de nouveau. Et un instant après les assistants disaient derechef à Pierre: « Vraiment tu es des leurs, car tu es aussi Galiléen. »
71 But he began to curse and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
Mais il se mit à proférer des anathèmes et à dire avec serment: « Je ne connais point cet homme dont vous parlez, »
72 And the second time a cock crew. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said to him, Before [the] cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice; and when he thought thereon he wept.
Et aussitôt le coq chanta pour la seconde fois, et Pierre se souvint de la parole que Jésus lui avait dite: « Avant que le coq ait chanté deux fois, tu m'auras renié trois fois. » Et cette pensée le faisait pleurer.
