Luke 10
1 Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place where he himself was about to come.
Or après cela le seigneur désigna soixante et douze autres personnes, qu'il envoya deux par deux devant lui dans chaque ville et dans chaque lieu où il devait lui-même passer.
2 And he said to them, The harvest indeed [is] great, but the workmen few; supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest that he may send out workmen into his harvest.
Or il leur disait: « La moisson est considérable, il est vrai, mais les ouvriers sont en petit nombre. Priez donc le Maître de la moisson afin qu'il envoie des ouvriers dans Sa moisson.
3 Go: behold I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.
Allez! Voici, je vous envoie comme des agneaux parmi des loups.
4 Carry neither purse nor scrip nor sandals, and salute no one on the way.
Ne portez point de bourse, ni de besace, ni de sandales, et ne saluez personne sur la route;
5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace to this house.
mais dans quelque maison que vous entriez, dites d'abord: « Paix pour cette maison! »
6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; but if not it shall turn to you again.
Et s'il se trouve là un enfant de paix, votre paix reposera sur lui, autrement, elle reviendra à vous.
7 And in the same house abide, eating and drinking such things as they have; for the workman is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.
Mais demeurez dans cette maison-là en mangeant et buvant ce qui s'y trouve, car l'ouvrier mérite son salaire; ne passez point de maison en maison.
8 And into whatsoever city ye may enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you,
Et dans quelque ville que vous entriez, si l'on vous reçoit, mangez ce qui vous est servi,
9 and heal the sick in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God is come nigh to you.
et guérissez les malades qui s'y trouvent, et dites-leur: « Le royaume de Dieu s'approche de vous. »
10 But into whatsoever city ye may have entered and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,
Mais dans quelque ville que vous entriez, si l'on ne vous reçoit pas, parcourez ses rues et dites:
11 Even the dust of your city, which cleaves to us on the feet, do we shake off against you; but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.
« La poussière même de votre ville, qui s'est attachée à nos pieds, nous l'essuyons pour vous la rendre; sachez cependant ceci, c'est que le royaume de Dieu s'approche. »
12 I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in that day than for that city.
Je vous déclare qu'en ce jour-là le sort de Sodome sera plus supportable que celui de cette ville-là.
13 Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the works of power which have taken place in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they had long ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
Malheur à toi, Chorazin! malheur à toi, Bedsaïda! Car si c'était dans Tyr et dans Sidon qu'eussent été faits les miracles qui ont été faits parmi vous, dès longtemps elles se seraient repenties en s'asseyant dans le sac et la cendre.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.
Aussi le sort de Tyr et de Sidon sera-t-il plus supportable que le vôtre lors du jugement.
15 And thou, Capernaum, who hast been raised up to heaven, shalt be brought down even to hades. (Hadēs g86)
Et toi Capharnaoum! Seras-tu élevée jusques au ciel? Tu descendras jusques dans le séjour des morts. (Hadēs g86)
16 He that hears you hears me; and he that rejects you rejects me; and he that rejects me rejects him that sent me.
Celui qui vous écoute, m'écoute, et celui qui vous rejette, me rejette; mais celui qui me rejette rejette Celui qui m'a envoyé. »
17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name.
Or les soixante-douze revinrent tout joyeux disant: « Seigneur, les démons mêmes se soumettent à nous en ton nom. »
18 And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning falling out of heaven.
Mais il leur dit: « Je voyais Satan tomber du ciel comme un éclair.
19 Behold, I give you the power of treading upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall in anywise injure you.
Voici, je vous ai donné l'autorité de marcher sur les serpents et les scorpions, et sur toute la puissance de l'ennemi, et rien absolument ne vous pourra nuire.
20 Yet in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subjected to you, but rejoice that your names are written in the heavens.
Ne vous réjouissez pas de ce que vous vous soumettez les esprits, mais réjouissez-vous de ce que vos noms sont inscrits dans les cieux. »
21 In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit and said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes: yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.
En ce moment même il fut rempli d'allégresse par l'Esprit saint, et il dit: « Je Te rends grâce, ô Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, de ce que Tu as caché ces choses aux sages et aux intelligents et de ce que Tu les a révélées aux simples; oui, ô Père, de ce que cela s'est ainsi trouvé bon à Tes yeux!
22 All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son is pleased to reveal [him].
Tout m'a été remis par mon Père, et personne ne connaît ce qu'est le Fils, si ce n'est le Père, et ce qu'est le Père, si ce n'est le Fils, et celui auquel le Fils veut le révéler. »
23 And having turned to the disciples privately he said, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see.
Et s'étant tourné à part vers les disciples, il dit: « Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vous voyez!
24 For I say to you that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which ye behold, and did not see [them]; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear [them].
Car je vous déclare que plusieurs prophètes et plusieurs rois ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l'ont pas vu, et entendre de moi ce que vous entendez, et ne l'ont pas entendu. »
25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up tempting him, and saying, Teacher, having done what, shall I inherit life eternal? (aiōnios g166)
Et voici, un certain légiste se leva pour le mettre à l'épreuve, en disant: « Maître, que ferai-je pour hériter la vie éternelle? » (aiōnios g166)
26 And he said to him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
Mais il lui dit: « Qu'est-il écrit dans la loi? Comment lis-tu? »
27 But he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thine understanding; and thy neighbour as thyself.
L'autre répliqua: « Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme, et de toute ta force, et de toute ta pensée, et ton prochain comme toi-même. »
28 And he said to him, Thou hast answered right: this do and thou shalt live.
Or il lui dit: « Tu as bien répondu; fais cela et tu vivras. »
29 But he, desirous of justifying himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
Mais l'autre voulant se justifier, dit à Jésus: « Eh bien, qui est mon prochain? »
30 And Jesus replying said, A certain man descended from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into [the hands of] robbers, who also, having stripped him and inflicted wounds, went away leaving him in a half-dead state.
Jésus répliqua: « Un homme descendit de Jérusalem à Jéricho, et il tomba parmi des brigands, qui, après l'avoir non seulement dépouillé mais roué de coups, s'en allèrent, le laissant à demi-mort.
31 And a certain priest happened to go down that way, and seeing him, passed on on the opposite side;
Or un prêtre, qui d'aventure descendait par ce chemin, l'ayant aperçu passa devant lui sans s'arrêter;
32 and in like manner also a Levite, being at the spot, came and looked [at him] and passed on on the opposite side.
de même aussi un lévite étant venu en cet endroit et l'ayant aperçu passa devant lui sans s'arrêter.
33 But a certain Samaritan journeying came to him, and seeing [him], was moved with compassion,
Mais un Samaritain que sa route conduisit vers lui l'ayant aperçu fut ému de compassion,
34 and came up [to him] and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and having put him on his own beast, took him to [the] inn and took care of him.
et s'étant approché il banda ses blessures en y versant de l'huile et du vin, puis l'ayant fait monter sur sa propre bête, il le conduisit dans une hôtellerie et prit soin de lui.
35 And on the morrow [as he left], taking out two denarii he gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou shalt expend more, I will render to thee on my coming back.
Et le lendemain ayant déboursé deux deniers, il les donna à l'hôtelier et lui dit: « Aie soin de lui, et ce que tu dépenseras de plus, c'est moi qui te le rembourserai à mon retour. »
36 Which [now] of these three seems to thee to have been neighbour of him who fell into [the hands of] the robbers?
Lequel de ces trois-là te semble avoir été le prochain de celui qui était tombé parmi les brigands? »
37 And he said, He that shewed him mercy. And Jesus said to him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Or l'autre dit: « Celui qui lui a donné des preuves de sa compassion. » Et Jésus lui dit: « Va, et toi aussi fais de même. »
38 And it came to pass as they went that he entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, Martha by name, received him into her house.
Pendant qu'ils poursuivaient leur route, il entra lui-même dans un village. Or une femme nommée Marthe le reçut;
39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also, having sat down at the feet of Jesus was listening to his word.
et elle avait une sœur appelée Marie, qui, se tenant aussi assise aux pieds du seigneur, écoutait ses paroles.
40 Now Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.
Mais Marthe se laissait distraire par beaucoup d'occupations, et elle vint dire à Jésus: « Seigneur, cela ne te fait-il rien que ma sœur me laisse toute l'occupation? Dis-lui donc de me seconder. »
41 But Jesus answering said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things;
Mais Jésus lui répliqua: « Marthe, Marthe, tu te fais des soucis et tu t'agites pour beaucoup de choses,
42 but there is need of one, and Mary has chosen the good part, the which shall not be taken from her.
mais il n'est besoin que de peu de choses, ou plutôt d'une seule; en effet, Marie a choisi la bonne part, qui ne lui sera point ôtée. »
