Joel 2
1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is at hand;
Sonnez de la trompette du haut de Sion, publiez à grands cris sur la montagne sainte; et que tous ceux qui habitent la terre soient confondus, parce que voilà le jour du Seigneur; il est près de vous,
2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and gross darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains; — a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, to the years of generations and generations.
ce jour d'obscurité et de ténèbres, ce jour de nuées et de brouillards. Un peuple nombreux et puissant va se répandre sur les montagnes, comme la lumière du matin; jamais, dans les temps passés, on n'a vu son pareil, et après lui on n'en verra point de semblable durant les années, de générations en générations.
3 A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame burneth; the land is as a garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness: yea, and nothing escapeth them.
Ce qui marche devant lui est un feu dévorant; ce qui marche à sa suite est une flamme ardente. La terre, avant qu'il arrive, était comme un jardin de délices; quand il fut passé, c'était un champ désert, et nul ne lui échappera.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so they run.
Ils apparaîtront comme une vision de chevaux; ils courront comme des cavaliers.
5 Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains, they leap; like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
Ils s'élanceront sur les cimes des montagnes, comme un bruit de chars, comme un bruit de flammes dévorant des maisons, comme un peuple puissant et nombreux se rangeant en bataille.
6 Before them the peoples are in anguish: all faces turn pale.
Devant leur force, les peuples seront broyés; tout visage sera comme le côté brûlé d'une chaudière.
7 They run like mighty men; they climb the wall like men of war; and they march every one on his ways, and break not their ranks.
Ils courront comme des combattants; ils escaladeront les murailles comme des hommes de guerre; et chacun d'eux marchera dans sa voie, et ils ne dévieront pas de leurs sentiers;
8 Neither doth one press upon another; they march every one in his path; and fall amid weapons, but are not wounded.
et nul ne s'écartera de son frère; ils marcheront chargés de leurs armes; ils tomberont avec leurs traits, et ils ne seront pas détruits.
9 They spread themselves over the city; they run upon the wall; they climb up into the houses; they enter in by the windows like a thief.
Ils prendront la ville; ils courront sur les remparts; ils monteront sur les maisons; ils entreront comme des larrons par les fenêtres.
10 The earth quaketh before them; the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
Devant leur face, la terre sera confondue, et le ciel tremblera. le soleil et la lune seront voilés de ténèbres, et les étoiles retireront leur lumière.
11 And Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; for his camp is very great; for strong is he that executeth his word: for the day of Jehovah is great and very terrible; and who can bear it?
Et le Seigneur fera entendre Sa voix devant Son armée, car Son camp est très nombreux, et les œuvres qui accomplissent Ses paroles sont puissantes, et le jour du Seigneur est un grand jour: il est éclatant; et qui sera capable de le soutenir?
12 Yet even now, saith Jehovah, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning;
Et maintenant le Seigneur Dieu vous dit: Convertissez-vous à Moi de toute votreâme; jeûnez, pleurez, frappez-vous la poitrine.
13 and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Jehovah your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving-kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Déchirez vos cœurs, et non vos vêtements. Et convertissez-vous au Seigneur votre Dieu, parce qu'Il est plein de clémence et de compassion, patient, abondant en miséricorde, et repentant des maux qu'Il fait en punissant.
14 Who knoweth? He might return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, an oblation and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God?
Qui sait s'Il ne Se repentira pas, s'Il ne laissera pas après Lui des bénédictions, des offrandes et des libations pour le Seigneur votre Dieu.
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, hallow a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly;
Sonnez de la trompette en Sion; sanctifiez le jeûne; publiez le service de Dieu;
16 gather the people, hallow the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride from her closet.
réunissez le peuple; sanctifiez l'Église; rassemblez les anciens; rassemblez les enfants à la mamelle; que l'époux quitte sa couche, et la femme son lit nuptial.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare, O Jehovah, thy people, and give not thine inheritance to reproach, that they should be a byword of the nations. Wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
Que les prêtres qui servent le Seigneur pleurent au pied de l'autel; qu'ils disent: Seigneur, épargne Ton peuple; ne livre pas Ton héritage à l'opprobre; ne laisse pas les gentils dominer sur lui, de peur que l'on ne dise parmi les nations: Où est leur Dieu?
18 Then Jehovah will be jealous for his land, and will have pity on his people.
Mais le Seigneur a été jaloux de Sa terre, et Il a épargné Son peuple.
19 And Jehovah will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I send you corn, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
Et le Seigneur a parlé, et Il a dit à Son peuple: Voilà que Je vous enverrai du blé, du vin et de l'huile, et vous vous en rassasierez, et Je ne vous livrerai pas plus longtemps aux opprobres des gentils.
20 And I will remove far off from you him [that cometh] from the north, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, his face toward the eastern sea, and his rear toward the hinder sea; and his stench shall come up, and his ill odour shall come up, for he hath exalted himself to do great things.
Et Je chasserai loin de vous celui qui est venu de l'aquilon; Je le repousserai dans une contrée aride, et Je ferai disparaître sa tête dans la première mer, et sa queue dans la dernière; et sa pourriture montera, et son infection s'élèvera; car il s'est glorifié de ses œuvres.
21 — Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for Jehovah doeth great things.
Rassure-toi, terre; réjouis-toi et tressaille d'allégresse, parce que le Seigneur se glorifie d'agir.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring; for the tree beareth its fruit; the fig-tree and the vine yield full increase.
Rassurez-vous, bêtes des champs, les plaines du désert ont bourgeonné; les arbres ont porté leurs fruits; le figuier et la vigne ont donné toute leur force.
23 And ye, children of Zion, be glad and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the early rain in due measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the early rain, and the latter rain at the beginning [of the season].
Et vous, enfants de Sion, réjouissez-vous, tressaillez d'allégresse dans le Seigneur votre Dieu; Il vous a donné abondance de vivres; Il fera pleuvoir pour vous, comme autrefois, les pluies du printemps et de l'automne.
24 And the floors shall be full of corn, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
Et vos granges seront remplies de blé; et vos pressoirs regorgeront de vin et d'huile.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you.
Et Je vous dédommagerai des ravages que pendant des années ont faits la sauterelle et la grande sauterelle, la nielle et la chenille, Ma grande armée que J'ai envoyée contre vous.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of Jehovah your God, who hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Et vous mangerez, et vous serez rassasiés, et vous louerez le Nom du Seigneur votre Dieu, à cause des prodiges qu'en votre faveur Il aura faits. Et Mon peuple ne sera plus humilié.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, Jehovah, [am] your God, and there is none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Et vous connaîtrez que Je suis au milieu d'Israël, et que Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu, et qu'il n'est point d'autre Dieu que Moi, et Mon peuple ne sera plus humilié à jamais.
28 And it shall come to pass afterwards [that] I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
Et ensuite, voici ce qui arrivera: Je répandrai Mon Esprit sur toute chair; et vos fils prophétiseront, et vos anciens auront des songes, et vos jeunes hommes des visions.
29 Yea, even upon the bondmen and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.
Et en ce jour-là Je répandrai Mon Esprit sur Mes serviteurs et sur Mes servantes.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Et Je mettrai des signes au ciel; et sur la terre, du sang, du feu et de la fumée.
31 The sun shall be changed to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come.
Le soleil sera changé en ténèbres, et la lune en sang, avant qu'arrive le grand jour, le jour éclatant du Seigneur.
32 And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of Jehovah shall be saved: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Jehovah hath said, and for the residue whom Jehovah shall call.
Et il arrivera que quiconque invoquera le Nom du Seigneur sera sauvé; car alors sera sauvé tout ce qui sera sur la montagne de Sion et de Jérusalem, et avec eux tous les évangélisés que le Seigneur a élus, comme l'a dit le Seigneur.
