Job 18
1 And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,
Da antwortete Bildad von Suah und sprach:
2 How long will ye hunt for words? Be intelligent, and then we will speak.
Wann wollt ihr der Rede ein Ende machen? Merket doch, danach wollen wir reden.
3 Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed stupid in your sight?
Warum werden wir geachtet wie Vieh und sind so unrein vor euren Augen?
4 Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of its place?
Willst du vor Bosheit bersten? Meinest du, daß um deinetwillen die Erde verlassen werde, und der Fels von seinem Ort versetzt werde?
5 Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the flame of his fire shall not shine.
Auch wird das Licht der Gottlosen verlöschen, und der Funke seines Feuers wird nicht leuchten.
6 The light shall become dark in his tent, and his lamp over him shall be put out.
Das Licht wird finster werden in seiner Hütte und seine Leuchte über ihm verlöschen.
7 The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
Die Zugänge seiner Habe werden schmal werden, und sein Anschlag wird ihn fällen.
8 For he is sent into the net by his own feet, and he walketh on the meshes;
Denn er ist mit seinen Füßen in Strick gebracht und wandelt im Netze.
9 The gin taketh [him] by the heel, the snare layeth hold on him;
Der Strick wird seine Fersen halten, und die Türstigen werden ihn erhaschen.
10 A cord is hidden for him in the ground, and his trap in the way.
Sein Strick ist gelegt in die Erde und seine Falle auf seinen Gang.
11 Terrors make him afraid on every side, and chase him at his footsteps.
Um und um wird ihn schrecken plötzliche Furcht, daß er nicht weiß, wo er hinaus soll.
12 His strength is hunger-bitten, and calamity is ready at his side.
Hunger wird seine Habe sein, und Unglück wird ihm bereitet sein und anhangen.
13 The firstborn of death devoureth the members of his body; it will devour his members.
Die Stärke seiner Haut wird verzehret werden, und seine Stärke wird verzehren der Fürst des Todes.
14 His confidence shall be rooted out of his tent, and it shall lead him away to the king of terrors:
Seine Hoffnung wird aus seiner Hütte gerottet werden, und sie werden ihn treiben zum Könige des Schreckens.
15 They who are none of his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be showered upon his habitation:
In seiner Hütte wird nichts bleiben; über seine Hütte wird Schwefel gestreuet werden.
16 His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off;
Von unten werden verdorren seine Wurzeln und von oben abgeschnitten seine Ernte.
17 His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name on the pasture-grounds.
Sein Gedächtnis wird vergehen im Lande, und wird keinen Namen haben auf der Gasse.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
Er wird vom Licht in die Finsternis vertrieben werden und vom Erdboden verstoßen werden.
19 He hath neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining in the places of his sojourn.
Er wird keine Kinder haben und keine Neffen unter seinem Volk; es wird ihm keiner überbleiben in seinen Gütern.
20 They that come after shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before [them] were affrighted.
Die nach ihm kommen, werden sich über seinen Tag entsetzen; und die vor ihm sind, wird eine Furcht ankommen.
21 Surely, such are the dwellings of the unrighteous man, and such the place of him that knoweth not God.
Das ist die Wohnung des Ungerechten, und dies ist die Stätte des, der Gott nicht achtet.
