James 2
1 My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [Lord] of glory, with respect of persons:
ஹே மம ப்⁴ராதர: , யூயம் அஸ்மாகம்’ தேஜஸ்விந: ப்ரபோ⁴ ர்யீஸு²க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய த⁴ர்ம்மம்’ முகா²பேக்ஷயா ந தா⁴ரயத|
2 for if there come unto your synagogue a man with a gold ring in splendid apparel, and a poor man also come in in vile apparel,
யதோ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸபா⁴யாம்’ ஸ்வர்ணாங்கு³ரீயகயுக்தே ப்⁴ராஜிஷ்ணுபரிச்ச²தே³ புருஷே ப்ரவிஷ்டே மலிநவஸ்த்ரே கஸ்மிம்’ஸ்²சித்³ த³ரித்³ரே(அ)பி ப்ரவிஷ்டே
3 and ye look upon him who wears the splendid apparel, and say, Do thou sit here well, and say to the poor, Do thou stand there, or sit here under my footstool:
யூயம்’ யதி³ தம்’ ப்⁴ராஜிஷ்ணுபரிச்ச²த³வஸாநம்’ ஜநம்’ நிரீக்ஷ்ய வதே³த ப⁴வாந் அத்ரோத்தமஸ்தா²ந உபவிஸ²த்விதி கிஞ்ச தம்’ த³ரித்³ரம்’ யதி³ வதே³த த்வம் அமுஸ்மிந் ஸ்தா²நே திஷ்ட² யத்³வாத்ர மம பாத³பீட² உபவிஸே²தி,
4 have ye not made a difference among yourselves, and become judges having evil thoughts?
தர்ஹி மந: ஸு விஸே²ஷ்ய யூயம்’ கிம்’ குதர்கை: குவிசாரகா ந ப⁴வத²?
5 Hear, my beloved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor as to the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to them that love him?
ஹே மம ப்ரியப்⁴ராதர: , ஸ்²ரு’ணுத, ஸம்’ஸாரே யே த³ரித்³ராஸ்தாந் ஈஸ்²வரோ விஸ்²வாஸேந த⁴நிந: ஸ்வப்ரேமகாரிப்⁴யஸ்²ச ப்ரதிஸ்²ருதஸ்ய ராஜ்யஸ்யாதி⁴காரிண: கர்த்தும்’ கிம்’ ந வரீதவாந்? கிந்து த³ரித்³ரோ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரவஜ்ஞாயதே|
6 But ye have despised the poor [man]. Do not the rich oppress you, and [do not] they drag you before [the] tribunals?
த⁴நவந்த ஏவ கிம்’ யுஷ்மாந் நோபத்³ரவந்தி ப³லாச்ச விசாராஸநாநாம்’ ஸமீபம்’ ந நயந்தி?
7 And [do not] they blaspheme the excellent name which has been called upon you?
யுஷ்மது³பரி பரிகீர்த்திதம்’ பரமம்’ நாம கிம்’ தைரேவ ந நிந்த்³யதே?
8 If indeed ye keep [the] royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.
கிஞ்ச த்வம்’ ஸ்வஸமீபவாஸிநி ஸ்வாத்மவத் ப்ரீயஸ்வ, ஏதச்சா²ஸ்த்ரீயவசநாநுஸாரதோ யதி³ யூயம்’ ராஜகீயவ்யவஸ்தா²ம்’ பாலயத² தர்ஹி ப⁴த்³ரம்’ குருத²|
9 But if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
யதி³ ச முகா²பேக்ஷாம்’ குருத² தர்ஹி பாபம் ஆசரத² வ்யவஸ்த²யா சாஜ்ஞாலங்கி⁴ந இவ தூ³ஷ்யத்⁴வே|
10 For whoever shall keep the whole law and shall offend in one [point], he has come under the guilt of [breaking] all.
யதோ ய: கஸ்²சித் க்ரு’த்ஸ்நாம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²ம்’ பாலயதி ஸ யத்³யேகஸ்மிந் விதௌ⁴ ஸ்க²லதி தர்ஹி ஸர்வ்வேஷாம் அபராதீ⁴ ப⁴வதி|
11 For he who said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not kill. Now if thou dost not commit adultery, but killest, thou art become transgressor of [the] law.
யதோ ஹேதோஸ்த்வம்’ பரதா³ராந் மா க³ச்சே²தி ய: கதி²தவாந் ஸ ஏவ நரஹத்யாம்’ மா குர்ய்யா இத்யபி கதி²தவாந் தஸ்மாத் த்வம்’ பரதா³ராந் ந க³த்வா யதி³ நரஹத்யாம்’ கரோஷி தர்ஹி வ்யவஸ்தா²லங்கீ⁴ ப⁴வஸி|
12 So speak ye, and so act, as those that are to be judged by [the] law of liberty;
முக்தே ர்வ்யவஸ்தா²தோ யேஷாம்’ விசாரேண ப⁴விதவ்யம்’ தாத்³ரு’ஸா² லோகா இவ யூயம்’ கதா²ம்’ கத²யத கர்ம்ம குருத ச|
13 for judgment [will be] without mercy to him that has shewn no mercy. Mercy glories over judgment.
யோ த³யாம்’ நாசரதி தஸ்ய விசாரோ நிர்த்³த³யேந காரிஷ்யதே, கிந்து த³யா விசாரம் அபி⁴ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
14 What [is] the profit, my brethren, if any one say he have faith, but have not works? can faith save him?
ஹே மம ப்⁴ராதர: , மம ப்ரத்யயோ(அ)ஸ்தீதி ய: கத²யதி தஸ்ய கர்ம்மாணி யதி³ ந வித்³யந்த தர்ஹி தேந கிம்’ ப²லம்’? தேந ப்ரத்யயேந கிம்’ தஸ்ய பரித்ராணம்’ ப⁴விதும்’ ஸ²க்நோதி?
15 Now if a brother or a sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
கேஷுசித்³ ப்⁴ராத்ரு’ஷு ப⁴கி³நீஷு வா வஸநஹீநேஷு ப்ராத்யஹிகாஹாரஹீநேஷு ச ஸத்ஸு யுஷ்மாகம்’ கோ(அ)பி தேப்⁴ய: ஸ²ரீரார்த²ம்’ ப்ரயோஜநீயாநி த்³ரவ்யாணி ந த³த்வா யதி³ தாந் வதே³த்,
16 and one from amongst you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled; but give not to them the needful things for the body, what [is] the profit?
யூயம்’ ஸகுஸ²லம்’ க³த்வோஷ்ணகா³த்ரா ப⁴வத த்ரு’ப்யத சேதி தர்ஹ்யேதேந கிம்’ ப²லம்’?
17 So also faith, if it have not works, is dead by itself.
தத்³வத் ப்ரத்யயோ யதி³ கர்ம்மபி⁴ ர்யுக்தோ ந ப⁴வேத் தர்ஹ்யேகாகித்வாத் ம்ரு’த ஏவாஸ்தே|
18 But some one will say, Thou hast faith and I have works. Shew me thy faith without works, and I from my works will shew thee my faith.
கிஞ்ச கஸ்²சித்³ இத³ம்’ வதி³ஷ்யதி தவ ப்ரத்யயோ வித்³யதே மம ச கர்ம்மாணி வித்³யந்தே, த்வம்’ கர்ம்மஹீநம்’ ஸ்வப்ரத்யயம்’ மாம்’ த³ர்ஸ²ய தர்ஹ்யஹமபி மத்கர்ம்மப்⁴ய: ஸ்வப்ரத்யயம்’ த்வாம்’ த³ர்ஸ²யிஷ்யாமி|
19 Thou believest that God is one. Thou doest well. The demons even believe, and tremble.
ஏக ஈஸ்²வரோ (அ)ஸ்தீதி த்வம்’ ப்ரத்யேஷி| ப⁴த்³ரம்’ கரோஷி| பூ⁴தா அபி தத் ப்ரதியந்தி கம்பந்தே ச|
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
கிந்து ஹே நிர்ப்³போ³த⁴மாநவ, கர்ம்மஹீந: ப்ரத்யயோ ம்ரு’த ஏவாஸ்த்யேதத்³ அவக³ந்தும்’ கிம் இச்ச²ஸி?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
அஸ்மாகம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷோ ய இப்³ராஹீம் ஸ்வபுத்ரம் இஸ்ஹாகம்’ யஜ்ஞவேத்³யாம் உத்ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டவாந் ஸ கிம்’ கர்ம்மப்⁴யோ ந ஸபுண்யீக்ரு’த: ?
22 Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and that by works faith was perfected.
ப்ரத்யயே தஸ்ய கர்ம்மணாம்’ ஸஹகாரிணி ஜாதே கர்ம்மபி⁴: ப்ரத்யய: ஸித்³தோ⁴ (அ)ப⁴வத் தத் கிம்’ பஸ்²யஸி?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness, and he was called Friend of God.
இத்த²ஞ்சேத³ம்’ ஸா²ஸ்த்ரீயவசநம்’ ஸப²லம் அப⁴வத், இப்³ராஹீம் பரமேஸ்²வரே விஸ்²வஸிதவாந் தச்ச தஸ்ய புண்யாயாக³ண்யத ஸ சேஸ்²வரஸ்ய மித்ர இதி நாம லப்³த⁴வாந்|
24 Ye see that a man is justified on the principle of works, and not on the principle of faith only.
பஸ்²யத மாநவ: கர்ம்மப்⁴ய: ஸபுண்யீக்ரியதே ந சைகாகிநா ப்ரத்யயேந|
25 But was not in like manner also Rahab the harlot justified on the principle of works, when she had received the messengers and put [them] forth by another way?
தத்³வத்³ யா ராஹப்³நாமிகா வாராங்க³நா சாராந் அநுக்³ரு’ஹ்யாபரேண மார்கே³ண விஸஸர்ஜ ஸாபி கிம்’ கர்ம்மப்⁴யோ ந ஸபுண்யீக்ரு’தா?
26 For as the body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
அதஏவாத்மஹீநோ தே³ஹோ யதா² ம்ரு’தோ(அ)ஸ்தி ததை²வ கர்ம்மஹீந: ப்ரத்யயோ(அ)பி ம்ரு’தோ(அ)ஸ்தி|
