Esther 4
1 And when Mordecai knew all that was done, Mordecai rent his garments, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and bitter cry,
Da Mardachai erfuhr alles, was geschehen war, zerriß er seine Kleider und legte einen Sack an und Asche; und ging hinaus mitten in die Stadt und schrie laut und kläglich.
2 and came even before the king's gate; for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.
Und kam vor das Tor des Königs. Denn es mußte niemand zu des Königs Tor eingehen, der einen Sack anhätte.
3 And in every province, wherever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing: many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
Und in allen Ländern, an welchen Ort des Königs Wort und Gebot gelangete, war ein groß Klagen unter den Juden, und viele fasteten, weineten, trugen Leid und lagen in Säcken und in der Asche.
4 And Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told [it] her; and the queen was exceedingly grieved: and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him; but he received [it] not.
Da kamen die Dirnen Esthers und ihre Kämmerer und sagten's ihr an. Da erschrak die Königin sehr. Und sie sandte Kleider, daß Mardachai anzöge und den Sack von ihm ablegte; er aber nahm sie nicht.
5 Then Esther called for Hatach, [one] of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to wait upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.
Da rief Esther Hathach unter des Königs Kämmerern, der vor ihr stund, und befahl ihm an Mardachai, daß sie erführe, was das wäre, und warum er so täte.
6 And Hatach went forth to Mordecai, unto the public place of the city which was before the king's gate.
Da ging Hathach hinaus zu Mardachai an die Gasse in der Stadt, die vor dem Tor des Königs war.
7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened to him, and of the sum of money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
Und Mardachai sagte ihm alles, was ihm begegnet wäre, und die Summa des Silbers, das Haman geredet hatte in des Königs Kammer darzuwägen um der Juden willen, sie zu vertilgen.
8 And he gave him a copy of the writing of the decree that had been given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew [it] to Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to make request before him, for her people.
Und gab ihm die Abschrift des Gebots, das zu Susan angeschlagen war, sie zu vertilgen, daß er es Esther zeigete und ihr ansagete und geböte ihr, daß sie zum Könige hineinginge und täte eine Bitte an ihn um ihr Volk.
9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
Und da Hathach hineinkam und sagte Esther die Worte Mardachais,
10 And Esther spoke to Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai:
sprach Esther zu Hathach und gebot ihm an Mardachai:
11 All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces do know that whoever, whether man or woman, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law, to put [him] to death, except [such] to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live; and I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
Es wissen alle Knechte des Königs und das Volk in den Landen des Königs, daß, wer zum Könige hineingehet inwendig in den Hof, er sei Mann oder Weib, der nicht gerufen ist, der soll stracks Gebots sterben, es sei denn, daß der König den güldenen Zepter gegen ihn reiche, damit er lebendig bleibe. Ich aber bin nun in dreißig Tagen nicht gerufen, zum Könige hineinzukommen.
12 And they told Mordecai Esther's words.
Und da die Worte der Esther wurden Mardachai angesagt,
13 And Mordecai bade to answer Esther: Imagine not in thy heart that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.
hieß Mardachai Esther wieder sagen: Gedenke nicht, daß du dein Leben errettest, weil du im Hause des Königs bist, vor allen Juden;
14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there arise relief and deliverance to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall perish. And who knows whether thou art [not] come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
denn wo du wirst zu dieser Zeit schweigen, so wird eine Hilfe und Errettung aus einem andern Ort den Juden entstehen, und du und deines Vaters Haus werdet umkommen. Und wer weiß, ob du um dieser Zeit willen zum Königreich kommen bist?
15 And Esther bade to answer Mordecai:
Esther hieß Mardachai antworten:
16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise, and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.
So gehe hin und versammle alle Juden, die zu Susan vorhanden sind, und fastet für mich, daß ihr nicht esset und trinket in dreien Tagen weder Tag noch Nacht; ich und meine Dirnen wollen auch also fasten. Und also will ich zum Könige hineingehen wider das Gebot; komme ich um, so komme ich um.
17 And Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
Mardachai ging hin und tat alles, was ihm Esther geboten hatte.
