Ephesians 3
1 For this reason I Paul, prisoner of the Christ Jesus for you nations,
C'est dans ce but que je vous écris, moi Paul, le prisonnier de Jésus-Christ pour vous, Gentils;
2 (if indeed ye have heard of the administration of the grace of God which has been given to me towards you,
si du moins vous avez entendu parler de la grâce, que, dans ses dispensations, Dieu m'a accordée en vue de vous.
3 that by revelation the mystery has been made known to me, (according as I have written before briefly,
C'est par une révélation que j'ai été initié au mystère dont j'ai dit quelques mots ci-dessus,
4 by which, in reading it, ye can understand my intelligence in the mystery of the Christ, )
et vous pouvez apercevoir en les lisant, l'intelligence que j'en ai.
5 which in other generations has not been made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in [the power of the] Spirit,
Il n'a pas été révélé en d'autres âges à l'humanité, comme il l'a été en ces derniers temps, par l'Esprit, aux saints apôtres de Christ et à ses prophètes,
6 that [they who are of] the nations should be joint heirs, and a joint body, and joint partakers of [his] promise in Christ Jesus by the glad tidings;
à qui il a été dévoilé que les Gentils sont avec les Juifs membres du même corps, cohéritiers et coparticipants de la même promesse, en Jésus-Christ, par l'évangile.
7 of which I am become minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me, according to the working of his power.
J'ai été fait ministre de cet évangile par la faveur que la grâce de Dieu m'a accordée, et par l’efficacité de sa puissance.
8 To me, less than the least of all saints, has this grace been given, to announce among the nations the glad tidings of the unsearchable riches of the Christ,
C'est à moi, le moindre des saints, qu'a été faite cette faveur d'annoncer à tous les Gentils les richesses insondables de Christ,
9 and to enlighten all [with the knowledge of] what is the administration of the mystery hidden throughout the ages in God, who has created all things, (aiōn g165)
et de les éclairer tous sur l'économie du mystère, qui avait été caché de tout temps en Dieu, le créateur de toutes choses, (aiōn g165)
10 in order that now to the principalities and authorities in the heavenlies might be made known through the assembly the all-various wisdom of God,
afin qu'à la vue de l'Église, les principautés et les puissances dans les cieux connaissent aujourd'hui la sagesse infiniment variée de Dieu,
selon le dessein éternel qu'il a réalisé en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur, (aiōn g165)
12 in whom we have boldness and access in confidence by the faith of him.
à qui nous devons la liberté de nous approcher de Dieu en toute assurance, par la foi que nous avons en lui.
13 Wherefore I beseech [you] not to faint through my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
C'est pourquoi je vous prie de ne pas vous laisser décourager par les afflictions que j'endure pour vous: elles sont votre gloire.
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father [of our Lord Jesus Christ],
C'est dans ce but que je fléchis les genoux devant le Père,
15 of whom every family in [the] heavens and on earth is named,
de qui vient à tout ce qui s'appelle «famille, » aux cieux et sur la terre, ce nom même de «famille.»
16 in order that he may give you according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power by his Spirit in the inner man;
Qu'il veuille, selon les richesses de sa gloire, vous donner d'être puissamment fortifiés par son Esprit, pour le développement de l'homme intérieur,
17 that the Christ may dwell, through faith, in your hearts, being rooted and founded in love,
en sorte que Christ habite en vos coeurs par la foi, afin qu'étant enracinés et fondés dans l'amour de Dieu,
18 in order that ye may be fully able to apprehend with all the saints what [is] the breadth and length and depth and height;
vous soyez en état de comprendre avec tous les saints quelle en est la largeur et la longueur, la profondeur et la hauteur,
19 and to know the love of the Christ which surpasses knowledge; that ye may be filled [even] to all the fulness of God.
et de connaître l'amour de Christ, qui surpasse toute idée, afin que vous soyez parfaits en aspirant à toute la perfection de Dieu.
20 But to him that is able to do far exceedingly above all which we ask or think, according to the power which works in us,
A Celui qui peut, par la puissance qui se déploie en nous, faire infiniment au delà de tout ce que nous demandons et pensons,
