Deuteronomy 5

1 And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances that I speak in your ears this day, and learn them, and keep them to do them.

೧ಮೋಶೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಾನು ಈಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವ ಆಜ್ಞಾವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ; ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು.

2 Jehovah our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

೨ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೋರೇಬಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು.

3 Not with our fathers did Jehovah make this covenant, but with us, [even] us, those [who are] here alive all of us this day.

೩ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಈ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೆ, ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡಲೇ ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು.

4 Face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire Jehovah spoke with you

೪ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಜ್ಞಾಲೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು.

5 (I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to declare to you the word of Jehovah; for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up to the mountain), saying,

೫ನೀವು ಆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಜ್ವಾಲೆಯ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು, ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತದೆ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ನಿಂತು ಆತನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆನು. ಆತನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ,

6 I am Jehovah thy God who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

೬“ನೀನು ದಾಸತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಮಾಡಿದ ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರು ನಾನೇ.

7 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

೭ನಾನಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇರಬಾರದು.

8 Thou shalt not make thyself any graven image, any form of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters under the earth:

೮“ಯಾವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಣ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವ ಯಾವುದರ ರೂಪವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು.

9 thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, and upon the third and upon the fourth [generation] of them that hate me,

೯ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳಲೂ ಬಾರದು, ಪೂಜೆಮಾಡಲೂ ಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ನಾನು ನನಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲತಕ್ಕ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಗೊಡಿಸದವನಾದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೋಷಫಲವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೂರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಲೆಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

10 and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

೧೦ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಾವಿರ ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ.

11 Thou shalt not idly utter the name of Jehovah thy God; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that idly uttereth his name.

೧೧“ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಅಯೋಗ್ಯಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಬಾರದು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಅಯೋಗ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವವನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

12 Keep the sabbath day to hallow it, as Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee.

೧೨“ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನೀನು ಸಬ್ಬತ್‍ ದಿನವನ್ನು ದೇವರ ದಿನವೆಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು.

13 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;

೧೩ಆರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ದುಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.

14 but the seventh day is the sabbath of Jehovah thy God: thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy bondman, nor thy handmaid, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy sojourner that is within thy gates; that thy bondman and thy handmaid may rest as well as thou.

೧೪ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾದ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಗಂಡಾಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಳು, ಎತ್ತು, ಕತ್ತೆ, ಪಶುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಊರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವರು ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನಂತೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡಾಳು ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಳುಗಳಿಗೂ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕು.

15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and that Jehovah thy God brought thee out thence with a powerful hand and with a stretched-out arm; therefore Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee to observe the sabbath day.

೧೫ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ದಾಸತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದುದ್ದನ್ನೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಭುಜಪರಾಕ್ರಮದಿಂದಲೂ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಾಹಸ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಸಬ್ಬತ್‍ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may be well with thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

೧೬“ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಬೇಕು; ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಬಹುಕಾಲ ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿ ಇರುವಿ, ಮತ್ತು ನಿನಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವುದು.

17 Thou shalt not kill.

೧೭“ನರಹತ್ಯ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.

18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

೧೮“ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.

19 Neither shalt thou steal.

೧೯“ಕದಿಯಬಾರದು.

20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

೨೦“ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬಾರದು.

21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.

೨೧“ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಬಾರದು; ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಹೊಲ, ಮನೆ, ಗಂಡಾಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಳು, ಎತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಕತ್ತೆ ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಬಾರದು.”

22 These words Jehovah spoke to all your congregation on the mountain from the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the obscurity, with a great voice, and he added no more; and he wrote them on two tables of stone, and gave them to me.

೨೨ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ, ಮೋಡ, ಕಾರ್ಗತ್ತಲು ಇವುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದೊಳಗಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಹಾ ಸ್ವರದಿಂದ ನುಡಿದನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆತನು ಮತ್ತೇನೂ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತನು ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಲಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಿ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, and the mountain burned with fire, that ye came near to me, all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

೨೩ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಆ ಕತ್ತಲೊಳಗಿಂದ ದೇವರ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ, ನೀವು ಅಂದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುಲಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳೂ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು,

24 and ye said, Behold, Jehovah our God has shewn us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice from the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God talks with man, and he lives.

೨೪“ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಘನವನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿ, ಅಗ್ನಿಜ್ವಾಲೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಕೇಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನಲ್ಲಾ. ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ದೇವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೂ ಸಾಯದೆ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದುಂಟೆಂಬುದು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಬಂತು.

25 And now, why should we die? for this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more, we shall die.

೨೫ಆದರೂ ಈ ಘೋರವಾದ ಅಗ್ನಿಜ್ವಾಲೆಯು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು, ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಪುನಃ ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಸತ್ತೇವು.

26 For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we, and has lived?

೨೬ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಜ್ವಾಲೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಚೈತನ್ಯಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ದೇವರ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿದಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೊಳಗೆ ಯಾರು ಕೇಳಿ ಬದುಕಿದರು? ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಯಾಕೆ ಸಾಯಬೇಕು?

27 Come thou near, and hear all that Jehovah our God will say; and speak thou to us all that Jehovah our God will speak to thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

೨೭ನೀನೇ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು; ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಾವು ನಡಿಸುವೆವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಿರಿ.

28 And Jehovah heard the voice of your words, when ye spoke to me; and Jehovah said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people that have spoken to thee: they have well spoken all that they have spoken.

೨೮ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕೇಳಿ ನನಗೆ, “ಈ ಜನರು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಆ ಮಾತುಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವೇ.

29 Oh that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments continually, that it might be well with them and with their sons for ever!

೨೯ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿ, ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇಯದು. ಆಗ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಅವರ ಸಂತತಿಯವರಿಗೂ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಶುಭವುಂಟಾಗುವುದು”

30 Go, say unto them, Get you into your tents again.

೩೦“‘ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಡೇರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ’ ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸು.

31 But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

೩೧ನೀನಾದರೋ ಇಲ್ಲೇ ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತಿರು; ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಧಿನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಂತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

32 Take heed then to do as Jehovah your God hath commanded you: turn not aside to the right hand or to the left.

೩೨ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ಎಡಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ತಪ್ಪಿ ನಡೆಯದೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದಂತೆಯೇ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

33 In all the way that Jehovah your God hath commanded you shall ye walk, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

೩೩ಆಗ ನೀವು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಕಾಲ ಸುಕ್ಷೇಮದಿಂದ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲೇ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು.
