Acts 6

1 But in those days, the disciples multiplying in number, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews because their widows were overlooked in the daily ministration.

அந்நாட்களில் சீடர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை பெருகியபோது, அவர்களில் கிரேக்க மொழி பேசும் யூதர்கள், எபிரெய மொழி பேசும் யூதருக்கு எதிராக முறையீடு செய்தார்கள். ஏனெனில், தங்களுடைய விதவைகள் அன்றாட உணவுப் பகிரும்போது, அலட்சியம் பண்ணப்படுவதாக அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள்.

2 And the twelve, having called the multitude of the disciples to [them], said, It is not right that we, leaving the word of God, should serve tables.

அப்பொழுது பன்னிரண்டு அப்போஸ்தலர்கள் எல்லா சீடர்களையும் ஒன்றாய்க் கூட்டி, “நாம் இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தையை அறிவிக்கும் ஊழியத்தில் முழுக் கவனத்தையும் செலுத்தாமல், சாப்பாட்டுப் பந்தியில் பணிசெய்வது சரியானது அல்ல.

3 Look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men, well reported of, full of [the] [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we will establish over this business:

எனவே பிரியமானவர்களே, உங்கள் மத்தியில் இருந்து ஏழுபேரைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். அவர்கள் ஆவியானவரினாலும், ஞானத்தினாலும் நிறைந்தவர்களென நற்சான்று பெற்றவர்களாய் இருக்கவேண்டும். நாங்கள் இப்பொறுப்பை அவர்களிடம் ஒப்படைப்போம்.

4 but we will give ourselves up to prayer and the ministry of the word.

நாங்களோ மன்றாடுவதற்கும், வார்த்தையை அறிவிக்கும் ஊழியத்தைச் செய்வதற்கும் எங்கள் முழு நேரத்தையும் செலுத்துவோம்” என்றார்கள்.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and [the] Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch,

அவர்கள் சொன்னது அங்கு கூடியிருந்த அனைவருக்கும் திருப்தியளித்தது. எனவே அவர்கள் விசுவாசத்திலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரிலும் நிறைந்தவனான ஸ்தேவானைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; அவனுடன் பிலிப்பு, பிரொகோர், நிக்கானோ, தீமோன், பர்மெனா ஆகியோரையும், யூத விசுவாசத்தைப் பின்பற்றுபவனாயிருந்த அந்தியோகியனான நிக்கொலாவையும் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

6 whom they set before the apostles; and, having prayed, they laid their hands on them.

அவர்கள் இவர்களை அப்போஸ்தலருக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அப்போஸ்தலர் இவர்களுக்காக மன்றாடி, இவர்கள்மேல் தங்கள் கைகளை வைத்தார்கள்.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was very greatly multiplied, and a great crowd of the priests obeyed the faith.

இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தை தொடர்ந்து பரவியது. சீடருடைய தொகையும் எருசலேமில் வெகுவாய்ப் பெருகியது, அநேக ஆசாரியர்களும் விசுவாசத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தார்கள்.

8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought wonders and great signs among the people.

இறைவனின் கிருபையும் வல்லமையும் நிறைந்த ஸ்தேவான், மக்கள் மத்தியில் பெரிதான அதிசயங்களையும் அற்புத அடையாளங்களையும் செய்தான்.

9 And there arose up certain of those of the synagogue called of freedmen, and of Cyrenians, and of Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.

ஆனால், சுதந்திரம் பெற்றவர்கள் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட யூத ஜெப ஆலயத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களிடமிருந்து எதிர்ப்பு வந்தது. அவர்கள் சிரேனே, அலெக்சந்திரியா, சிலிசியாவின் மாகாணங்கள், ஆசியா ஆகிய இடங்களைச் சேர்ந்த யூதர்களாய் இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஸ்தேவானுடன் விவாதம் செய்யத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

ஆனால், அவனிடமிருந்த ஞானத்தின் காரணமாகவும், அவன் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைக்கொண்டு பேசியதினாலும் அவர்களால் அவனை எதிர்த்துநிற்க முடியாமல் போயிற்று.

11 Then they suborned men, saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.

எனவே அவர்கள் இரகசியமாக சிலரைத் தூண்டிவிட்டு, “இவன் மோசேக்கும், இறைவனுக்கும் விரோதமாக அவர்களை நிந்தித்துப் பேசியதை நாங்கள் கேட்டோம்” என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னார்கள்.

12 And they roused the people, and the elders, and the scribes. And coming upon [him] they seized him and brought [him] to the council.

இப்படி அவர்கள் மக்களையும், யூதரின் தலைவர்களையும், மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியர்களையும், ஸ்தேவானுக்கு எதிராகக் தூண்டிவிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பின்பு அவர்கள் திடீரென வந்து, ஸ்தேவானைப் பிடித்து ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்திற்கு முன்பாக அவனைக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

13 And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against the holy place and the law;

அவர்கள் பொய்ச்சாட்சிகளை நிறுத்தினார்கள். அவர்கள், “இவன், இந்தப் பரிசுத்த இடத்திற்கும், மோசேயின் சட்டத்திற்கும் விரோதமாய்ப் பேசுகிறதை நிறுத்துகிறதில்லை.

14 for we have heard him saying, This Jesus the Nazaraean shall destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses taught us.

நாசரேத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இயேசு இந்த இடத்தை அழிப்பார் என்றும், மோசே நமக்குக் கையளித்த நடைமுறைகளை மாற்றுவார் என்றும் இவன் சொன்னதை நாங்கள் கேட்டோம்” என்றார்கள்.

15 And all who sat in the council, looking fixedly on him, saw his face as [the] face of an angel.

அந்த நீதிமன்றத்தில் இருந்த அனைவரும் ஸ்தேவான்மேல் கண்ணோக்கமாயிருக்கையில் அவனுடைய முகம் இறைத்தூதனுடைய முகத்தைப்போல் பிரகாசிப்பதை அவர்கள் கண்டார்கள்.
