< Acts 6 >

1 But in those days, the disciples multiplying in number, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews because their widows were overlooked in the daily ministration.
Na rĩrĩ, matukũ-inĩ macio rĩrĩa mũigana wa arutwo wongererekaga-rĩ, Ayahudi amwe arĩa maaciarĩirwo kwa Ayunani nĩmatetirie Ayahudi a Kĩhibirania tondũ atumia ao a ndigwa matiagayagĩrwo irio rĩrĩa ikũgayanwo o mũthenya.
2 And the twelve, having called the multitude of the disciples to [them], said, It is not right that we, leaving the word of God, should serve tables.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, atũmwo acio ikũmi na eerĩ magĩcookanĩrĩria arutwo othe hamwe na makĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Gũtiagĩrĩire tũtiganĩrie ũtungata wa kiugo kĩa Ngai nĩguo tũtungatage metha-inĩ.
3 Look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men, well reported of, full of [the] [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we will establish over this business:
Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, thuurai andũ mũgwanja kuuma gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu, andũ arĩa moĩkaine atĩ nĩ maiyũrĩtwo nĩ Roho, o na ũũgĩ, na nĩtũkũmehokera wĩra ũcio,
4 but we will give ourselves up to prayer and the ministry of the word.
na ithuĩ tũrũmbũiye ũhoro wa mahooya na ũtungata wa kiugo.”
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and [the] Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch,
Ũndũ ũcio moigire nĩwakenirie gĩkundi kĩu gĩothe. Nao magĩthuura Stefano, mũndũ waiyũrĩtwo nĩ wĩtĩkio na Roho Mũtheru, na Filipu, na Porokoro, na Nikanora, na Timoni, na Paramena, na Nikola, mũndũ wa kuuma Antiokia ũrĩa wagarũrũkĩte agatuĩka Mũyahudi.
6 whom they set before the apostles; and, having prayed, they laid their hands on them.
Makĩneana andũ acio kũrĩ atũmwo, nao atũmwo makĩmahoera na makĩmaigĩrĩra moko.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was very greatly multiplied, and a great crowd of the priests obeyed the faith.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio kiugo kĩa Ngai gĩkĩhunja. Mũigana wa arutwo kũu Jerusalemu ũkĩongerereka mũno, nakĩo gĩkundi kĩnene kĩa athĩnjĩri-Ngai gĩgĩathĩkĩra ũhoro wa wĩtĩkio.
8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought wonders and great signs among the people.
Na rĩrĩ, Stefano, mũndũ waiyũrĩtwo nĩ wega wa Ngai na ũhoti, nĩekire morirũ manene na akĩringa ciama gatagatĩ-inĩ ka andũ.
9 And there arose up certain of those of the synagogue called of freedmen, and of Cyrenians, and of Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia, disputing with Stephen.
No rĩrĩ, nĩ kuoimĩrire ngarari kuuma kũrĩ andũ a Thunagogi ya Andũ arĩa Oohore (ta ũrĩa yetagwo), nao nĩ Ayahudi a kuuma Kurene na Alekisanderia o hamwe na mabũrũri ma Kilikia na Asia. Andũ aya makĩambĩrĩria gũkararania na Stefano,
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.
no matingĩetiiririe ũũgĩ wake kana Roho ũrĩa aaragia naguo.
11 Then they suborned men, saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo makĩringĩrĩria andũ amwe na hitho moige atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũiguĩte Stefano akĩaria ciugo cia kũruma Musa, o na Ngai.”
12 And they roused the people, and the elders, and the scribes. And coming upon [him] they seized him and brought [him] to the council.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio magĩtũma okĩrĩrwo nĩ andũ, na athuuri, na arutani a watho. Makĩnyiita Stefano makĩmũrehe mbere ya Kĩama.
13 And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against the holy place and the law;
Magĩcooka makĩrehe aira a maheeni, arĩa maarutire ũira makiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ ndatigithagĩria kwaria agĩũkagĩrĩra handũ haha hatheru, o na gũũkĩrĩra watho.
14 for we have heard him saying, This Jesus the Nazaraean shall destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses taught us.
Nĩgũkorwo nĩtũiguĩte akiuga atĩ Jesũ ũyũ wa Nazarethi nĩagatharia handũ haha, na agarũre mĩtugo ĩrĩa Musa aatũtigĩire.”
15 And all who sat in the council, looking fixedly on him, saw his face as [the] face of an angel.
Andũ arĩa othe maarĩ Kĩama-inĩ magĩkũũrĩra Stefano maitho, nao makĩona ũthiũ wake ũtarĩi ta ũthiũ wa mũraika.
