2 Thessalonians 3
1 For the rest, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also with you;
Vielä, rakkaat veljet, rukoilkaat meidän edestämme, että Herran sana menestyis ja niin kunnioitettaisiin kuin teidänkin tykönänne,
2 and that we may be delivered from bad and evil men, for faith [is] not [the portion] of all.
Ja että me häijyistä ja pahoista ihmisistä pelastettaisiin; sillä ei usko ole joka miehen.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and keep [you] from evil.
Mutta Herra on uskollinen, joka teitä vahvistaa ja pahasta varjelee.
4 But we trust in the Lord as to you, that the things which we enjoin, ye both do and will do.
Mutta me toivomme Herrassa teistä, että te teette ja tekeväiset olette, mitä me teille olemme käskeneet.
5 But the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of the Christ.
Mutta Herra ojentakoon teidän sydämenne Jumalan rakkauteen ja Kristuksen kärsivällisyyteen!
6 Now we enjoin you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the instruction which he received from us.
Mutta me käskemme teitä, rakkaat veljet, meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen nimeen, että te teitänne eroittaisitte jokaisesta veljestä, joka häijysti itsensä käyttää ja ei sen säädyn jälkeen, jonka hän meiltä saanut on.
7 For ye know yourselves how ye ought to imitate us, because we have not walked disorderly among you;
Sillä te itse tiedätte, kuinka teidän meitä seuraaman pitää: emmepä me ole tavattomasti teidän seassanne olleet.
8 nor have we eaten bread from any one without cost; but in toil and hardship working night and day not to be chargeable to any one of you:
Emme myös ole leipää keltään ilman ottaneet, vaan työllä ja hiellä: yöllä ja päivällä olemme me työtä tehneet, ettemme kellenkään teidän seassanne kuormaksi olisi.
9 not that we have not the right, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you, in order to your imitating us.
Ei, ettei meillä se valta olisi, vaan että me itsemme opiksi teille antaisimme, seurataksenne meitä.
10 For also when we were with you we enjoined you this, that if any man does not like to work, neither let him eat.
Ja kuin me teidän tykönänne olimme, niin me senkaltaisia teille käskimme, että jos ei joku tahdo työtä tehdä, niin ei hänen syömänkään pidä.
11 For we hear that [there are] some walking among you disorderly, not working at all, but busybodies.
Sillä me kuulemme, että muutamat teidän seassanne tavattomasti vaeltavat, ja ei tee työtä, vaan joutilaina ovat.
12 Now such we enjoin and exhort in [the] Lord Jesus Christ, that working quietly they eat their own bread.
Mutta senkaltaisia me käskemme ja neuvomme meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen kautta, että he hiljaisuudessa työtä tekisivät ja omaa leipäänsä söisivät.
13 But ye, brethren, do not faint in well-doing.
Mutta te, rakkaat veljet, älkäät väsykö hyvää tekemästä.
14 But if any one obey not our word by the letter, mark that man, and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed of himself;
Ellei siis joku tottele meidän sanaamme lähetyskirjan kautta, niin merkitkäät se ja älkäät kanssakäymistä pitäkö hänen kanssansa, että hän häpeäis,
15 and do not esteem him as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother.
Ja älkäät häntä pitäkö niinkuin vihollisena, vaan neuvokaat niinkuin veljeä.
16 But the Lord of peace himself give you peace continually in every way. The Lord [be] with you all.
Mutta itse rauhan Herra antakoon teille rauhan aina kaikella tavalla! Herra olkoon teidän kanssanne!
17 The salutation by the hand of me, Paul, which is [the] mark in every letter; so I write.
Tervehdys minun Paavalin kädelläni, joka on merkki kaikissa lähetyskirjoissa: näin minä kirjoitan.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all.
Meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen armo olkoon kaikkein teidän kanssanne, amen!
