2 Kings 21

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hephzibah.

Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y cinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Hefzibá.

2 And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, like the abominations of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed from before the children of Israel.

Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, según las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé arrojó delante de los hijos de Israel.

3 And he built again the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars to Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

Porque volvió a edificar los lugares altos que Ezequías, su padre, había destruido; levantó altares para Baal e hizo una Asera, como hizo Ajab, rey de Israel, y adoró a todo el ejército del cielo, y les sirvió.

4 And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah had said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

Edificó altares en la casa de Yahvé, de la cual Yahvé dijo: “Pondré mi nombre en Jerusalén”.

5 And he built altars to all the host of heaven in both courts of the house of Jehovah.

Construyó altares para todo el ejército del cielo en los dos atrios de la casa de Yahvé.

6 And he caused his son to pass through the fire, and used magic and divination, and appointed necromancers and soothsayers: he wrought evil beyond measure in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

Hizo pasar a su hijo por el fuego, practicó la hechicería, usó encantamientos y trató con los que tenían espíritus familiares y con los magos. Hizo mucho mal a los ojos de Yahvé, para provocarlo a la ira.

7 And he set the graven image of the Asherah that he had made, in the house of which Jehovah had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever;

Puso la imagen grabada de Asera que había hecho en la casa de la que Yahvé dijo a David y a Salomón su hijo: “En esta casa y en Jerusalén, que he elegido de entre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre;

8 neither will I any more cause the foot of Israel to wander away from the land that I gave their fathers; if they will only take heed to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

no haré que los pies de Israel vuelvan a errar fuera de la tierra que di a sus padres, con tal de que observen hacer todo lo que les he mandado, y toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés les mandó.”

9 But they would not hearken, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations that Jehovah had destroyed from before the children of Israel.

Pero ellos no escucharon, y Manasés los sedujo para que hicieran lo que es malo, más de lo que hicieron las naciones que Yahvé destruyó antes de los hijos de Israel.

10 And Jehovah spoke by his servants the prophets saying,

Yahvé habló por medio de sus siervos los profetas, diciendo:

11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols;

“Por cuanto Manasés, rey de Judá, ha hecho estas abominaciones, y ha hecho maldades mayores que las que hicieron los amorreos que fueron antes de él, y también ha hecho pecar a Judá con sus ídolos;

12 therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

por tanto, Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice: He aquí que yo traigo tal mal sobre Jerusalén y sobre Judá, que al que lo oiga le hormiguearán ambos oídos.

13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipeth a pan, wiping it and turning it upside down.

Extenderé sobre Jerusalén la línea de Samaria y la plomada de la casa de Acab; y limpiaré a Jerusalén como se limpia un plato, limpiándolo y poniéndolo boca abajo.

14 And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

Desecharé el remanente de mi herencia y lo entregaré en manos de sus enemigos. Se convertirán en presa y botín de todos sus enemigos,

15 because they have done evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt even to this day.

porque han hecho lo que es malo ante mis ojos, y me han provocado a la ira desde el día en que sus padres salieron de Egipto, hasta hoy.’”

16 And Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem [with it] from one end to another; beside his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing evil in the sight of Jehovah.

Además, Manasés derramó mucha sangre inocente, hasta llenar Jerusalén de un extremo a otro; además de su pecado con el que hizo pecar a Judá, al hacer lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé.

17 And the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin which he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

El resto de los hechos de Manasés, y todo lo que hizo, y su pecado que cometió, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

Manasés durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado en el jardín de su casa, en el jardín de Uza; y su hijo Amón reinó en su lugar.

19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Meshullemeth, daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

Amón tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dos años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Mesulmet, hija de Haruz de Jotba.

20 And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, as Manasseh his father had done;

Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, como lo hizo su padre Manasés.

21 and he walked in all the way that his father had walked in, and served the idols that his father had served, and worshipped them;

Anduvo en todos los caminos en que anduvo su padre, y sirvió a los ídolos que su padre servía, y los adoró;

22 and he forsook Jehovah the God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of Jehovah.

y abandonó a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, y no anduvo en el camino de Yahvé.

23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

Los servidores de Amón conspiraron contra él y mataron al rey en su propia casa.

24 But the people of the land smote all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

Pero el pueblo del país mató a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón, y el pueblo del país hizo rey a su hijo Josías en su lugar.

25 And the rest of the acts of Amon, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Amón, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

26 And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.

Fue enterrado en su tumba en el jardín de Uza, y su hijo Josías reinó en su lugar.
