2 Chronicles 16
1 In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, in order to let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
En el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asa, Baasa, rey de Israel, subió contra Judá y edificó Ramá, para no dejar salir ni entrar a nadie a Asa, rey de Judá.
2 And Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Jehovah and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,
Entonces Asa sacó plata y oro de los tesoros de la casa de Yahvé y de la casa real, y envió a Ben Hadad, rey de Siria, que vivía en Damasco, diciendo:
3 There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I send thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
“Que haya un tratado entre tú y yo, como lo hubo entre mi padre y tu padre. He aquí que te he enviado plata y oro. Ve, rompe tu tratado con Baasa, rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí”.
4 And Ben-hadad hearkened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his forces against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon and Dan and Abelmaim, and all the store-magazines of the cities of Naphtali.
Ben Hadad escuchó al rey Asá y envió a los capitanes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel, y atacaron Ijón, Dan, Abel Maim y todas las ciudades de almacenamiento de Neftalí.
5 And it came to pass when Baasha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease.
Cuando Baasa se enteró de esto, dejó de construir Ramá y dejó de trabajar.
6 And king Asa took all Judah; and they carried away the stones and the timber from Ramah, with which Baasha had been building, and he built with them Geba and Mizpah.
Entonces el rey Asá tomó a todo Judá, y se llevaron las piedras y la madera de Rama, con las que Baasa había construido; y con ellas edificó Geba y Mizpa.
7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore has the army of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.
En aquel tiempo el vidente Hanani vino a Asa, rey de Judá, y le dijo: “Como te has apoyado en el rey de Aram, y no te has apoyado en Yahvé, tu Dios, el ejército del rey de Aram se ha escapado de tu mano.
8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army, with very many chariots and horsemen? but when thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand.
¿No eran los etíopes y los lubinos un ejército enorme, con carros y muchísima gente de a caballo? Sin embargo, como te apoyaste en el Señor, él los entregó en tu mano.
9 For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro through the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
Porque los ojos de Yahvé recorren toda la tierra, para mostrarse fuerte en favor de aquellos cuyo corazón es perfecto para con él. Has hecho una tontería en esto; porque a partir de ahora tendrás guerras”.
10 And Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was enraged with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.
Entonces Asa se enojó con el vidente y lo metió en la cárcel, pues estaba furioso con él por este asunto. Asa oprimió al mismo tiempo a algunos del pueblo.
11 And behold the acts of Asa, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
He aquí que los hechos de Asa, primeros y últimos, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá e Israel.
12 And Asa in the thirty-ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was extremely great; yet in his disease he did not seek Jehovah, but the physicians.
En el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asa enfermó de los pies. Su enfermedad era muy grave; sin embargo, en su enfermedad no buscó a Yahvé, sino sólo a los médicos.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one-and-fortieth year of his reign.
Asá durmió con sus padres y murió en el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado.
14 And they buried him in his own sepulchre, which he had excavated for himself in the city of David, and laid him in a bed filled with spices, a mixture of divers kinds prepared by the perfumer's art; and they made a very great burning for him.
Lo enterraron en su propia tumba, que él mismo había cavado en la ciudad de David, y lo pusieron en el lecho que estaba lleno de olores dulces y de diversas clases de especias preparadas por el arte de los perfumistas; y le hicieron un fuego muy grande.
