1 Timothy 6
1 Let as many bondmen as are under yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and the teaching be not blasphemed.
Was Knechte sind im Sklavenstand, die sollen sich zu ihrem Herrn in aller Ehrerbietung halten, damit nicht der Name Gottes und die Lehre gelästert werde.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise [them] because they are brethren; but let them the rather serve them with subjection, because they are faithful and beloved, who profit by the good and ready service [rendered]. These things teach and exhort.
Die aber Gläubige zu Herrn haben, sollen sie nicht darum geringer achten, weil sie Brüder sind, sondern um so williger dienen, weil sie es mit Gläubigen zu thun haben und Geliebten, die sich des Wohlthuns befleißigen. So sollst du lehren und ermahnen;
3 If any one teach differently, and do not accede to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the teaching which [is] according to piety,
wer aber anders lehrt, und nicht an den gesunden Sprüchen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus hält und an der Religionslehre,
4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and disputes of words, out of which arise envy, strife, injurious words, evil suspicions,
der bläht sich nur auf, ohne etwas zu wissen, vielmehr kränkelt er in Grübeleien und Wortstreitereien, daraus kommt nur Neid, Hader, Lästerung und Argwohn,
5 constant quarrellings of men corrupted in mind and destitute of the truth, holding gain to be [the end of] piety.
fortwährende Zänkerei sinnloser und wahrheitsbloßer Menschen, die da meinen, die Religion sei eine Erwerbsquelle.
6 But piety with contentment is great gain.
Ja sie ist eine große Erwerbsquelle durch Genügsamkeit.
7 For we have brought nothing into the world: [it is] [manifest] that neither can we carry anything out.
Wir haben nichts in die Welt gebracht, weil wir auch nichts mit hinausnehmen können.
8 But having sustenance and covering, we will be content with these.
Haben wir Nahrung und Kleidung, so sei es uns genug.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin.
Die auf Reichsein ausgehen, fallen in Versuchung und Schlinge und viele thörichte und schädliche Lüste, die den Menschen in Verderben und Untergang stürzen.
10 For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
Denn die Liebe zum Geld ist eine Wurzel alles Bösen; im Begehren danach sind schon manche vom Glauben abgeirrt, und haben sich in großes Weh verstrickt.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness of spirit.
Du aber, o Mensch Gottes, fliehe das; trachte aber nach Gerechtigkeit, Frömmigkeit, Glaube, Liebe, Geduld, Sanftmut.
12 Strive earnestly [in] the good conflict of faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast confessed the good confession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
Kämpfe den guten Kampf des Glaubens, ergreife das ewige Leben, zu dem du berufen bist und ein gutes Bekenntnis abgelegt hast vor vielen Zeugen. (aiōnios g166)
13 I enjoin thee before God who preserves all things in life, and Christ Jesus who witnessed before Pontius Pilate the good confession,
Ich befehle dir vor Gott, der allen Dingen Leben gibt, und Christus Jesus, der unter Pontius Pilatus das gute Bekenntnis abgelegt,
14 that thou keep the commandment spotless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
daß du das Gebot haltest ohne Flecken, ohne Tadel, bis zur Erscheinung unseres Herrn Jesus Christus,
15 which in its own time the blessed and only Ruler shall shew, the King of those that reign, and Lord of those that exercise lordship;
welche zu seiner Zeit sehen lassen wird der selige alleinige Gebieter, der König der Könige, der Herr der Herrscher,
16 who only has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor is able to see; to whom [be] honour and eternal might. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
der allein Unsterblichkeit hat, der da wohnet in einem Lichte, da niemand zu kann, den kein Mensch gesehen hat noch sehen kann. Ihm sei Ehre und ewige Herrschaft. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Enjoin on those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to trust on the uncertainty of riches; but in the God who affords us all things richly for [our] enjoyment; (aiōn g165)
Denen, die da reich sind in dieser Welt, befiehl: sich nicht hoch zu dünken, noch zu hoffen auf des Reichtums ungewisses Wesen, sondern auf Gott, der uns alles reichlich gewährt zum Genusse, (aiōn g165)
18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in distributing, disposed to communicate [of their substance],
Gutes zu thun, reich zu sein in guten Werken, freigebig, mitteilsam,
19 laying by for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold of [what is] really life.
sich selbst sammelnd einen guten Grund für die Zukunft, damit sie das wahrhaftige Leben ergreifen.
20 O Timotheus, keep the entrusted deposit, avoiding profane, vain babblings, and oppositions of false-named knowledge,
O Timotheus, bewahre deine Mitgabe, meide die verwerflichen Reden ins Leere und Antithesen der Gnosis, die ihren Namen fälschlich trägt,
21 of which some having made profession, have missed the faith. Grace [be] with thee.
zu der sich etliche bekannt haben, um vom Glauben zu verirren. Die Gnade mit euch.
