Revelation 12
1 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars.
Dann erschien ein großes Zeichen im Himmel: ein Weib, das war mit der Sonne bekleidet, der Mond lag unter ihren Füßen, und auf ihrem Haupt trug sie eine Krone von zwölf Sternen.
2 And being with child, she cried out while giving birth, and she was suffering in order to give birth.
Sie sah ihrer Niederkunft entgegen und schrie in Wehen und Kindesnöten.
3 And another sign was seen in heaven. And behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.
Zugleich erschien ein anderes Zeichen im Himmel: ein großer feuerroter Drache, der hatte sieben Häupter und zehn Hörner, und auf seinen Häuptern (glänzten) sieben Kronen;
4 And his tail drew down a third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman, who was about to give birth, so that, when she had brought forth, he might devour her son.
sein Schweif fegte den dritten Teil der Sterne des Himmels weg und warf sie nieder auf die Erde. Dieser Drache stellte sich vor das Weib, das im Begriff war zu gebären, um ihr Kindlein sofort nach der Geburt zu verschlingen.
5 And she brought forth a male child, who was soon to rule all the nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne.
Und sie gebar einen Sohn, einen kraftvollen Knaben, der alle Völker mit eisernem Stab weiden soll. Ihr Kind ward entrückt zu Gott und seinem Thron.
6 And the woman fled into solitude, where a place was being held ready by God, so that they might pasture her in that place for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
Das Weib entfloh in die Wüste: dort fand sie eine Stätte, von Gott bereitet, wo sie zwölfhundertsechzig Tage lang ernährt werden sollte.
7 And there was a great battle in heaven. Michael and his Angels were battling with the dragon, and the dragon was fighting, and so were his angels.
Da entstand ein Kampf im Himmel: Michael und seine Engel stritten mit dem Drachen. Der Drache setzte sich zur Wehr mit seinen Engeln;
8 But they did not prevail, and a place for them was no longer found in heaven.
doch sie wurden überwunden, und ihres Bleibens war nicht länger mehr im Himmel.
9 And he was thrown out, that great dragon, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduces the whole world. And he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.
Es ward hinabgestürzt der große Drache, die alte Schlange, die auch der Teufel oder der Satan heißt und die ganze Welt verführt; hinabgestürzt ward er zur Erde, und seine Engel mit ihm.
10 And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying: “Now have arrived salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been cast down, he who accused them before our God day and night.
Dann hörte ich eine laute Stimme im Himmel rufen: / Jetzt sind erschienen unseres Gottes Heil und Kraft und Königreich, und sein Gesalbter hat die Macht empfangen. Denn der Verkläger unserer Brüder ist hinabgestürzt, der sie vor unserem Gott verklagt hat Tag und Nacht.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of his testimony. And they loved not their own lives, even unto death.
Sie haben über ihn gesiegt; als Waffen hatten sie des Lammes Blut und jenes Wort, durch das sie Zeugnis abgelegt. Dabei sind sie sogar bereit gewesen, ihr Leben in den Tod zu geben.
12 Because of this, rejoice, O heavens, and all who dwell within it. Woe to the earth and to the sea! For the devil has descended to you, holding great anger, knowing that he has little time.”
Darum freut euch, ihr Himmel, und alle, die ihr darin wohnt! Doch weh der Erde und dem Meer! Der Teufel ist zu euch hinabgekommen mit großem Grimm. Er weiß ja: seine Frist ist nur noch kurz."
13 And after the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who brought forth the male child.
Als der Drache sah, daß er hinabgestürzt war auf die Erde, verfolgte er das Weib, das den Knaben geboren hatte.
14 And the two wings of a great eagle were given to the woman, so that she might fly away, into the desert, to her place, where she is being nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Das Weib aber empfing die beiden Flügel des großen Adlers, damit sie in die Wüste fliege an die ihr bestimmte Stätte, wo sie, sicher vor dem Grimm der Schlange, eine Zeit und (zwei) Zeiten und eine halbe Zeit ernährt werden sollte.
15 And the serpent sent out from his mouth, after the woman, water like a river, so that he might cause her to be carried away by the river.
Da schoß die Schlange aus ihrem Maul einen Strom von Wasser hinter dem Weib her, um es in dieser Flut zu ertränken.
16 But the earth assisted the woman. And the earth opened her mouth and absorbed the river, which the dragon sent out from his mouth.
Doch die Erde kam dem Weib zu Hilfe: sie öffnete ihren Mund und verschluckte den Strom, den der Drache aus seinem Maul ergossen hatte.
17 And the dragon was angry at the woman. And so he went away to do battle with the remainder of her offspring, those who keep the commandments of God and who hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Da ward der Drache grimmig über das Weib und ging hin, um zu streiten mit ihren anderen Kindern, die Gottes Gebote halten und das Jesuszeugnis treu bewahren. Ich trat nun an den Strand des Meeres.
