Psalms 56

1 Unto the end. For the people who have become far removed from the Sacred. Of David, with the inscription of a title, when the Philistines held him in Gath. Have mercy on me, O God, because man has trampled over me. All day long, he has afflicted me by fighting against me.

Mictam di Davide, intorno a ciò che i Filistei lo presero in Gat; [dato] al Capo dei Musici, in su Ionat-elem-rehochim ABBI pietà di me, o Dio; Perciocchè gli uomini a gola aperta sono dietro a me; [I miei] assalitori mi stringono tuttodì.

2 My enemies have trampled over me all day long. For those who make war against me are many.

I miei nemici son dietro a me a gola aperta tuttodì; Perciocchè gran numero di gente mi assale da alto.

3 From the height of the day, I will be afraid. But truly, I will hope in you.

Nel giorno [che] io temerò, Io mi confiderò in te.

4 In God, I will praise my words. In God, I have put my trust. I will not fear what flesh can do to me.

Coll'[aiuto di] Dio, io loderò la sua parola; Io mi confido in Dio, Io non temerò cosa che mi possa far la carne.

5 All day long, they curse my words. All their intentions are for evil against me.

Tuttodì fanno dolorose le mie parole; Tutti i lor pensieri [son] contro a me a male.

6 They will dwell and hide themselves. They will watch my heel, just as they waited for my soul;

Si radunano insieme, stanno in agguato; spiano le mie pedate, Come aspettando [di coglier] l'anima mia.

7 because of this, nothing will save them. In your anger, you will crush the people.

In vano [sarebbe] il salvar loro [la vita]; O Dio, trabocca i popoli nella [tua] ira.

8 O God, I have announced my life to you. You have placed my tears in your sight, and even in your promise.

Tu hai contate le mie fughe; Riponi le mie lagrime ne' tuoi barili; Non [sono elleno] nel tuo registro?

9 Then my enemies will be turned back. On whatever day that I call upon you, behold, I know that you are my God.

Allora i miei nemici volteranno le spalle, nel giorno che io griderò; Questo so io, che Iddio [è] per me.

10 In God, I will praise the word. In the Lord, I will praise his speech.

Con [l'aiuto di] Dio, io loderò la [sua] parola; Con [l'aiuto del] Signore, io loderò la [sua] parola.

11 In God, I have hoped. I will not fear what man can do to me.

Io mi confido in Dio; Io non temerò cosa che mi possa far l'uomo.

12 My vows to you, O God, are in me. I will repay them. Praises be to you.

[Io ho] sopra me i voti che io ti ho fatti, o Dio; Io ti renderò lodi.

13 For you have rescued my soul from death and my feet from slipping, so that I may be pleasing in the sight of God, in the light of the living.

Conciossiachè tu abbi riscossa l'anima mia dalla morte; Non [hai tu guardati] i miei piedi di ruina, Acciocchè io cammini nel cospetto di Dio nella luce de' viventi?
