Psalms 56

1 Unto the end. For the people who have become far removed from the Sacred. Of David, with the inscription of a title, when the Philistines held him in Gath. Have mercy on me, O God, because man has trampled over me. All day long, he has afflicted me by fighting against me.

Jusqu'à la Fin, pour le peuple, quand il fut éloigné des saints lieux, inscription de David, lorsque les Philistins l'eurent maîtrisé dans Geth. Aie pitié de moi, ô Dieu, car l'homme m'a foulé aux pieds; tout le jour, il a bataillé contre moi, et il m'a accablé.

2 My enemies have trampled over me all day long. For those who make war against me are many.

Mes ennemis m'ont foulé aux pieds tout le jour, à partir de l'aurore; ils étaient nombreux à me combattre.

3 From the height of the day, I will be afraid. But truly, I will hope in you.

Mais ils sentiront la crainte, et moi j'espérerai en toi.

4 In God, I will praise my words. In God, I have put my trust. I will not fear what flesh can do to me.

En Dieu je louerai mes paroles; tout le jour j'ai espéré en Dieu; je ne craindrai rien de ce que la chair fera contre moi.

5 All day long, they curse my words. All their intentions are for evil against me.

Tout le long du jour ils ont eu en mépris mes discours; toutes leurs pensées tendaient à me nuire.

6 They will dwell and hide themselves. They will watch my heel, just as they waited for my soul;

Ils s'établiront auprès de moi, s'embusqueront et guetteront mes pieds, comme ils ont cherché la perte de mon âme.

7 because of this, nothing will save them. In your anger, you will crush the people.

Tu ne les sauveras pas; tu briseras les peuples en ta colère, ô mon Dieu.

8 O God, I have announced my life to you. You have placed my tears in your sight, and even in your promise.

Je t'ai dévoilé ma vie; tu as mis devant toi mes larmes, selon ta promesse.

9 Then my enemies will be turned back. On whatever day that I call upon you, behold, I know that you are my God.

Mes ennemis tourneront le dos, quel que soit le jour où je t'invoque; voilà comment je reconnais que tu es mon Dieu.

10 In God, I will praise the word. In the Lord, I will praise his speech.

En Dieu je louerai la parole; en Dieu je louerai les discours.

11 In God, I have hoped. I will not fear what man can do to me.

J'ai espéré en Dieu, je ne craindrai rien de ce que l'homme fera contre moi.

12 My vows to you, O God, are in me. I will repay them. Praises be to you.

En moi sont les vœux de louange que je te rendrai, ô Dieu.

13 For you have rescued my soul from death and my feet from slipping, so that I may be pleasing in the sight of God, in the light of the living.

Car tu as délivré mon âme de la mort et mes pieds de la chute, afin que je sois agréable aux yeux de Dieu dans la lumière des vivants.
