Psalms 44
1 Unto the end. To the sons of Korah, toward understanding. We have heard, O God, with our own ears. Our fathers have announced to us the work that you wrought in their days and in the days of antiquity.
Ó Deus, nós ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos, e nossos pais nos tem contado a obra que fizeste em seus dias, nos tempos da antiguidade.
2 Your hand dispersed the Gentiles, and you transplanted them. You afflicted a people, and you expelled them.
Como expeliste as nações com a tua mão e os plantaste a eles: como afligiste os povos e os derrubaste.
3 For they did not take possession of the land by their sword, and their own arm did not save them. But your right hand and your arm, and the light of your countenance did so, because you were pleased with them.
Pois não conquistaram a terra pela sua espada, nem o seu braço os salvou, mas a tua dextra e o teu braço, e a luz da tua face, porquanto te agradaste deles.
4 You yourself are my king and my God, who commands the salvation of Jacob.
Tu és o meu Rei, ó Deus: ordena salvações para Jacob.
5 With you, we will brandish a horn before our enemies; and in your name, we will spurn those rising up against us.
Por ti escornearemos os nossos inimigos: pelo teu nome pizaremos os que se levantam contra nós:
6 For I will not hope in my bow, and my sword will not save me.
Pois eu não confiarei no meu arco, nem a minha espada me salvará.
7 For you have saved us from those who afflict us, and you have bewildered those who hate us.
Mas tu nos salvaste dos nossos inimigos, e confundiste os que nos aborreciam.
8 In God, we will give praise all day long; and in your name, we will confess forever.
Em Deus nos glóriamos todo o dia, e louvamos o teu nome eternamente (Selah)
9 But now, you have rejected and bewildered us, and you will not go forth with our armies, O God.
Mas agora tu nos rejeitaste e nos confundiste, e não sais com os nossos exércitos.
10 You have turned our back to our enemies, and those who hated us have plundered for themselves.
Faze-nos retirar do inimigo, e aqueles que nos odeiam nos saqueiam para si.
11 You have given us over like sheep for food. You have scattered us among the Gentiles.
Tu nos entregaste como ovelhas para comer, e nos espalhaste entre as nações.
12 You have sold your people without a price, and no great number was exchanged for them.
Tu vendes por nada o teu povo, e não aumentas a tua riqueza com o seu preço.
13 You have set us as a disgrace to our neighbors, a scoff and a derision to those who are around us.
Tu nos pões por opróbrio aos nossos vizinhos, por escarneio e zombaria de aqueles que estão à roda de nós.
14 You have set us as a parable among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Tu nos pões por provérbio entre as nações, por movimento de cabeça entre os povos.
15 All day long my shame is before me, and the confusion of my face has covered me,
A minha confusão está constantemente diante de mim, e a vergonha do meu rosto me cobre:
16 before the voice of the reproacher and the commentator, before the face of the adversary and the pursuer.
Á voz daquele que afronta e blasfema, por causa do inimigo e do vingador.
17 All these things have come upon us, yet we have not forgotten you, and we have not acted unjustly in your covenant.
Tudo isto nos sobreveio: contudo não nos esquecemos de ti, nem nos houvemos falsamente contra o teu concerto.
18 And our heart has not turned back. And you have not diverted our steps from your way.
O nosso coração não voltou atráz, nem os nossos passos se desviaram das tuas veredas;
19 For you humbled us in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us.
Ainda que nos quebrantaste num lugar de dragões, e nos cobriste com a sombra da morte.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, and if we have extended our hands to a foreign god,
Se nós esquecemos o nome do nosso Deus, e estendemos as nossas mãos para um deus estranho,
21 will not God find this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
Porventura não esquadrinhará Deus isso? pois ele sabe os segredos do coração.
22 For, because of you, we are being killed all day long. We are considered as sheep for the slaughter.
Sim, por amor de ti, somos mortos todo o dia: somos tidos na conta de ovelhas para o matadouro.
23 Rise up. Why do you fall asleep, O Lord? Rise up, and do not reject us in the end.
Desperta, porque dormes, Senhor? acorda, não nos rejeites para sempre.
24 Why do you turn your face away, and why do you forget our needfulness and our tribulation?
Porque escondes a tua face, e te esqueces da nossa miséria e da nossa opressão?
25 For our soul has been humbled into the dust. Our belly has been bound to the earth.
Pois a nossa alma está abatida até ao pó; o nosso ventre se apega à terra.
26 Rise up, O Lord. Help us and redeem us, because of your name.
Levanta-te em nosso auxílio, e resgata-nos por amor das tuas misericórdias.
