< Psalms 41 >

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David himself. Blessed is he who shows understanding toward the needy and the poor. The Lord will deliver him in the evil day.
Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ‌ʻOku monūʻia ia ʻaia ʻoku tokanga ki he masiva: ʻe fakamoʻui ia ʻe Sihova he ʻaho ʻoe kovi.
2 May the Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth. And may he not hand him over to the will of his adversaries.
‌ʻE tauhi ia ʻe Sihova, mo pule ke moʻui ia; pea te ne monūʻia ʻi māmani: pea ʻe ʻikai te ke tukuange ia ki he loto ʻo hono ngaahi fili.
3 May the Lord bring him help on his bed of sorrow. In his infirmity, you have changed his entire covering.
‌ʻE fakamālohi ia ʻe Sihova ʻi he tokotoʻanga fakamamahi: te ke ngaohi hono mohenga kotoa pē ʻi hono mahaki.
4 I said, “O Lord, be merciful to me. Heal my soul, because I have sinned against you.”
Naʻaku pehē, “ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate au: fakamoʻui hoku laumālie; he kuo u fai angahala kiate koe.”
5 My enemies have spoken evils against me. When will he die and his name perish?
‌ʻOku lauʻikoviʻi au ʻe hoku ngaahi fili: ʻE mate ʻafē ia, pea ʻauha hono hingoa?
6 And when he came in to see me, he was speaking emptiness. His heart gathered iniquity to itself. He went outside, and he was speaking in the same way.
Pea kapau ʻe haʻu ia ke vakai au, ʻoku ne lea loi: ʻoku tānaki ʻe hono loto kiate ia ʻae kovi; ʻoku ʻalu ia kituaʻā, ʻo fakahā ia.
7 All my enemies were whispering against me. They were thinking up evils against me.
‌ʻOku fefanafanahi kiate au ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fehiʻa kiate au: ʻoku nau fakakaukau kovi kiate au.
8 They established an unjust word against me. Will he that sleeps no longer rise again?
‌ʻOku nau pehē, “ʻOku piki maʻu kiate ia ʻae mahaki kovi: pea ko ʻene tokoto ni ʻe ʻikai te ne toetuʻu hake mei ai.”
9 For even the man of my peace, in whom I hoped, who ate my bread, has greatly supplanted me.
‌ʻIo, ko hoku kaumeʻa moʻoni, ʻaia naʻaku falala ki ai, ʻaia naʻa ne kai ʻi heʻeku mā, kuo hiki hake ʻe ia hono mui vaʻe kiate au.
10 But you, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again. And I will requite them.
Ka ko koe, ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au, mo fokotuʻu hake au, pea te u totongi kiate kinautolu.
11 By this, I knew that you preferred me: because my adversary will not rejoice over me.
‌ʻOku ou ʻilo ʻi he meʻa ni ʻoku ke finangalo lelei kiate au, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai kalanga ʻi he fiefia ʻa hoku fili kiate au.
12 But you have sustained me, because of my innocence, and you have confirmed me in your sight in eternity.
Pea ko au, ʻoku ke poupou hake au ʻi heʻeku angatonu, pea te ke fokotuʻu au ʻi ho ʻao ʻo taʻengata.
13 Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for all generations and even forever. Amen. Amen.
Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, talu mei muʻa, ʻo taʻengata. ʻEmeni mo ʻEmeni.
