Matthew 27
1 Then, when morning arrived, all the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, so that they might deliver him to death.
Nach Tagesanbruch berieten alle Hohenpriester und die Ältesten des Volkes, wie sie das Todesurteil an Jesus am besten vollziehen lassen könnten.
2 And they led him, bound, and handed him over to Pontius Pilate, the procurator.
Dann führten sie ihn gefesselt ab und überlieferten ihn dem Statthalter Pontius Pilatus.
3 Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing that he had been condemned, regretting his conduct, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the leaders of the priests and the elders,
Als Judas, sein Verräter, sah, daß er verurteilt worden war, da brachte er, von Reue gequält, die dreißig Silberlinge den Hohenpriestern und Ältesten zurück
4 saying, “I have sinned in betraying just blood.” But they said to him: “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”
und sprach: "Ich habe mich versündigt durch den Verrat unschuldigen Bluts."
5 And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed. And going out, he hanged himself with a snare.
Sie antworteten ihm: "Was geht uns das an? Das ist deine Sache!" Da warf er das Geld in den Tempel und eilte davon, ging hin und erhängte sich.
6 But the leaders of the priests, having taken up the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the temple offerings, because it is the price of blood.”
Die Hohenpriester aber nahmen das Geld und sprachen: "Es darf nicht in den Tempelschatz gelegt werden, denn es ist Blutgeld."
7 Then, having taken counsel, they bought the potter’s field with it, as a burying place for sojourners.
So kauften sie denn nach einer Beratung den bekannten Töpferacker dafür zum Begräbnisplatz für die Fremden.
8 For this reason, that field is called Haceldama, that is, ‘The Field of Blood,’ even to this very day.
Darum heißt der Acker noch heutigentags der Blutacker.
9 Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one being appraised, whom they appraised before the sons of Israel,
So erfüllte sich das Wort des Propheten Jeremia: Ich nahm die dreißig Silberlinge, die ich als Lohn empfangen für ihn, auf den einige der Söhne Israels einen Preis gesetzt,
10 and they gave it for the potter’s field, just as the Lord appointed to me.”
und gab sie für den Töpferacker, wie mir der Herr befohlen hatte.
11 Now Jesus stood before the procurator, and the procurator questioned him, saying, “You are the king of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “You are saying so.”
Jesus wurde nun vor den Statthalter geführt. Der fragte ihn: "Bist du der Juden König?" Jesus antwortete: "Ja, ich bin's."
12 And when he was accused by the leaders of the priests and the elders, he responded nothing.
Doch auf die Anklagen der Hohenpriester und Ältesten erwiderte er nichts.
13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how much testimony they speak against you?”
Da sprach Pilatus zu ihm: "Hörst du nicht, was sie alles gegen dich vorbringen?"
14 And he did not respond any word to him, so that the procurator wondered greatly.
Aber er antwortete ihm auf keine einzige Frage, so daß es den Statthalter sehr wunder nahm.
15 Now on the solemn day, the procurator was accustomed to release to the people one prisoner, whomever they wished.
Nun pflegte der Statthalter an jedem Passahfest dem Volk nach dessen freier Wahl einen Gefangenen loszugeben.
16 And at that time, he had a notorious prisoner, who was called Barabbas.
Man hatte damals aber einen berüchtigten Gefangenen, der hieß Barabbas.
17 Therefore, having been gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Who is it that you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?”
Als sich nun viele aus dem Volk angesammelt hatten, fragte sie Pilatus: "Wen soll ich euch losgeben: Barabbas oder Jesus, den man den Messias nennt?"
18 For he knew that it was out of envy they had handed him over.
Er wußte nämlich, daß sie ihn nur aus Neid überantwortet hatten.
19 But as he was sitting in the place for the tribunal, his wife sent to him, saying: “It is nothing to you, and he is just. For I have experienced many things today through a vision for his sake.”
Während er auf dem Richterstuhl saß, ließ seine Frau ihm sagen: "Habe du nichts zu schaffen mit diesem Gerechten; denn ich habe heute nacht einen unheilvollen Traum über ihn gehabt."
20 But the leaders of the priests and the elders persuaded the people, so that they would ask for Barabbas, and so that Jesus would perish.
Die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten hatten indes das Volk dazu beredet, Barabbas sich loszubitten und Jesu Tod zu fordern.
21 Then, in response, the procurator said to them, “Which of the two do you want to be released to you?” But they said to him, “Barabbas.”
Als nun der Statthalter sie von neuem fragte: "Wen von diesen beiden soll ich euch losgeben?", da riefen sie: "Barabbas!"
22 Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do about Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified.”
Pilatus sprach zu ihnen: "Was soll ich denn mit Jesus machen, den man den Messias nennt?" Sie riefen alle: "Ans Kreuz mit ihm!"
23 The procurator said to them, “But what evil has he done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let him be crucified.”
Da fragte der Statthalter: "Was hat er denn verbrochen?" Sie aber schrien nur noch lauter: "Ans Kreuz mit ihm!"
24 Then Pilate, seeing that he was able to accomplish nothing, but that a greater tumult was occurring, taking water, washed his hands in the sight of the people, saying: “I am innocent of the blood of this just man. See to it yourselves.”
Als nun Pilatus einsah, daß er nichts erreichte, sondern daß der Lärm immer ärger wurde, da ließ er Wasser bringen, wusch sich vor aller Augen die Hände und sprach: "Ich bin unschuldig an dem Blut dieses Gerechten! Seht ihr zu!"
25 And the entire people responded by saying, “May his blood be upon us and upon our children.”
Da rief das ganze Volk: "Sein Blut komme auf uns und auf unsere Kinder!"
26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But Jesus, having been scourged, he handed over to them, so that he would be crucified.
Da gab er ihnen Barabbas los. Jesus aber ließ er geißeln und übergab ihn dann (den Soldaten) zur Kreuzigung.
27 Then the soldiers of the procurator, taking Jesus up to the praetorium, gathered the entire cohort around him.
Nun führten die Soldaten des Statthalters Jesus in das Innere des Palastes und sammelten die ganze Schar ihrer Genossen, um ihren Spott mit ihm zu treiben.
28 And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak around him.
Sie entkleideten ihn, legten ihm einen scharlachroten Soldatenmantel um,
29 And plaiting a crown of thorns, they placed it on his head, with a reed in his right hand. And genuflecting before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews.”
flochten aus Dornen eine Krone und setzten sie ihm aufs Haupt und gaben ihm einen Rohrstab in seine rechte Hand. Dann beugten sie die Knie vor ihm und riefen höhnisch: "Heil dir, Judenkönig!"
30 And spitting on him, they took the reed and struck his head.
Dabei spien sie ihn an, nahmen den Rohrstab und schlugen ihn damit aufs Haupt.
31 And after they had mocked him, they stripped him of the cloak, and clothed him with his own garments, and they led him away to crucify him.
Als sie so ihren Spott mit ihm getrieben hatten, zogen sie ihm den Soldatenmantel aus, legten ihm seine eigenen Kleider wieder an und führten ihn ab zur Kreuzigung.
32 But as they were going out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, named Simon, whom they compelled to take up his cross.
Als sie die Stadt verließen, trafen sie einen Mann aus Kyrene, namens Simon. Den zwangen sie, Jesu Kreuz zu tragen.
33 And they arrived at the place which is called Golgotha, which is the place of Calvary.
So kamen sie zu einem Platz, namens Golgatha, das heißt Schädelstätte.
34 And they gave him wine to drink, mixed with gall. And when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it.
Dort gaben sie ihm betäubenden Wein zu trinken. Doch als er ihn gekostet hatte, wollte er ihn nicht trinken.
35 Then, after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots, in order to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying: “They divided my garments among them, and over my vestment they cast lots.”
Nach seiner Kreuzigung verteilten sie seine Kleider unter sich, indem sie das Los darüber warfen.
36 And sitting down, they observed him.
Dann setzten sie sich dort nieder und hielten bei ihm Wache.
37 And they set his accusation above his head, written as: This is Jesus, king of the Jews.
Über seinem Haupt aber war eine Inschrift angebracht mit der Angabe seiner Schuld, die lautete: Dies ist Jesus, der Juden König.
38 Then two robbers were crucified with him: one on the right and one on the left.
Auch wurden mit ihm zwei Räuber gekreuzigt, der eine zu seiner Rechten, der andere zu seiner Linken.
39 But those passing by blasphemed him, shaking their heads,
Die Vorübergehenden aber schmähten ihn: sie schüttelten den Kopf
40 and saying: “Ah, so you would destroy the temple of God and in three days rebuild it! Save your own self. If you are the Son of God, descend from the cross.”
und sprachen: "Du wolltest ja den Tempel niederreißen und ihn in drei Tagen wiederbauen. Nun hilf dir selbst! Bist du Gottes Sohn, so steige vom Kreuz herab!"
41 And similarly, the leaders of the priests, with the scribes and the elders, mocking him, said:
Auch die Hohenpriester samt den Schriftgelehrten und den Ältesten spotteten und sagten:
42 “He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him descend now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
"Anderen hat er geholfen, und sich selbst kann er nun nicht helfen! Er will ja der König Israels sein! Nun gut, so mag er jetzt vom Kreuz heruntersteigen! Dann wollen wir an ihn glauben.
43 He trusted in God; so now, let God free him, if he wills him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
Er hat auf Gott vertraut; der mag ihn nun retten, wenn's ihm gefällt. Er hat ja gesagt: ich bin Gottes Sohn."
44 Then, the robbers who were crucified with him also reproached him with the very same thing.
Ebenso beschimpften ihn die Räuber, die mit ihm gekreuzigt waren.
45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the entire earth, even until the ninth hour.
Von der sechsten Stunde aber bis zur neunten bedeckte Finsternis die ganze Gegend.
46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: “Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
Und um die neunte Stunde rief Jesus mit lauter Stimme: "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani!" Das heißt: Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen?
47 Then certain ones who were standing and listening there said, “This man calls upon Elijah.”
Als dies einige der Umstehenden hörten, sprachen sie: "Der ruft Elia."
48 And one of them, running quickly, took a sponge and filled it with vinegar, and he set it on a reed and he gave it to him to drink.
Sofort lief einer von ihnen hin, nahm einen Schwamm, füllte ihn mit Essig, steckte ihn auf einen Rohrstab und wollte ihm zu trinken geben.
49 Yet truly, the others said, “Wait. Let us see whether Elijah will come to free him.”
Da sprachen die anderen: "Laß doch! Wir wollen sehen, ob Elia wirklich kommt und ihm hilft."
50 Then Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, gave up his life.
Jesus aber schrie nochmals laut und gab den Geist auf.
51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two parts, from top to bottom. And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split apart.
In diesem Augenblick zerriß der Tempelvorhang von oben bis unten in zwei Stücke.
52 And the tombs were opened. And many bodies of the saints, which had been sleeping, arose.
Die Erde erbebte. Die Felsen zerbarsten. Die Gräber öffneten sich, und viele Leiber der entschlafenen Heiligen wurden auferweckt;
53 And going out from the tombs, after his resurrection, they went into the holy city, and they appeared to many.
die gingen aus ihren Gräbern hervor, kamen nach seiner Auferstehung in die heilige Stadt und erschienen vielen.
54 Now the centurion and those who were with him, guarding Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were very fearful, saying: “Truly, this was the Son of God.”
Als aber der Hauptmann und seine Leute, die bei Jesus Wache hielten, das Erdbeben und, was sich sonst noch zutrug, sahen, da wurden sie von großer Furcht erfüllt und sprachen: "Dieser Mann ist wirklich Gottes Sohn gewesen!"
55 And in that place, there were many women, at a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him.
Es waren dort auch viele Frauen, die von fern zusahen: sie hatten Jesus von Galiläa her begleitet und ihm gedient.
56 Among these were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
Unter ihnen waren auch Maria aus Magdala, Maria, die Mutter des Jakobus und des Josef, und die Mutter der Söhne des Zebedäus.
57 Then, when evening had arrived, a certain wealthy man from Arimathea, named Joseph, arrived, who himself was also a disciple of Jesus.
Am Abend kam ein reicher Mann, aus Arimathäa gebürtig, mit Namen Josef, der auch eine Jünger Jesu geworden war.
58 This man approached Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered the body to be released.
Der ging zu Pilatus und bat ihn um Jesu Leichnam. Da befahl Pilatus, man solle ihm den Leichnam überlassen.
59 And Joseph, taking the body, wrapped it in a clean finely-woven linen cloth,
Nun nahm Josef den Leichnam, ließ ihn in reine Leinwand wickeln
60 and he placed it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out of a rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and he went away.
und in ein noch unbenutztes Grab legen, da er für sich in einen Felsen hatte hauen lassen. Dann ließ er einen großen Stein vor die Grabesöffnung wälzen und entfernte sich.
61 Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the sepulcher.
Maria aus Magdala aber und die andere Maria blieben dort und setzten sich dem Grab gegenüber.
62 Then the next day, which is after the Preparation day, the leaders of the priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate together,
Am nächsten Tag, am Tag nach dem Freitag, kamen die Hohenpriester und die Pharisäer gemeinsam zu Pilatus
63 saying: “Lord, we have remembered that this seducer said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days, I will rise again.’
und sprachen: "Herr, es ist uns eingefallen, daß jener Betrüger bei seinen Lebzeiten gesagt hat: 'Nach drei Tagen werde ich auferstehen.'
64 Therefore, order the sepulcher to be guarded until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples may come and steal him, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ And this last error would be worse than the first.”
Laß nun das Grab bis zum dritten Tag streng bewachen, damit nicht etwa seine Jünger kommen und ihn stehlen und dann zum Volk sagen: 'Er ist von den Toten auferstanden.' Dann wäre der letzte Betrug noch schlimmer als der erste."
65 Pilate said to them: “You have a guard. Go, guard it as you know how.”
Pilatus sprach zu ihnen: "Ihr sollt eine Wache haben. Geht hin und verwahrt das Grab, so gut ihr könnt."
66 Then, going out, they secured the sepulcher with guards, sealing the stone.
Da gingen sie hin und sicherten das Grab: sie versiegelten den Stein und stellten die Wache aus.
