Judges 5
1 In that day, Deborah and Barak, the son of Abinoam, sang out, saying:
En ce jour-là Débora, avec Barac fils d'Abinoham, chanta en disant:
2 “All you of Israel who have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord!
Bénissez l'Eternel de ce qu'il a fait de telles vengeances en Israël, [et] de ce que le peuple a été porté de bonne volonté.
3 Listen, O kings! Pay attention, O princes! It is I, it is I, who will sing to the Lord. I will sing a psalm to the Lord, the God of Israel!
Vous Rois écoutez, vous Princes prêtez l'oreille; moi, moi, je chanterai à l'Eternel, je psalmodierai à l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël.
4 O Lord, when you departed from Seir, and you crossed through the regions of Edom, the earth and the heavens were moved, and the clouds rained down water.
Ô Eternel! quand tu sortis de Séhir, quand tu marchas du territoire d'Edom, la terre fut ébranlée, même les cieux fondirent, les nuées, dis-je, fondirent en eaux.
5 The mountains flowed away before the face of the Lord, and Sinai, before the face of the Lord God of Israel.
Les montagnes s'écoulèrent de devant l'Eternel, ce Sinaï [s'écoula] de devant l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël.
6 In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the paths were quiet. And whoever entered by them, walked along rough byways.
Aux jours de Samgar, fils de Hanath, aux jours de Jahel, les grands chemins n'étaient plus battus, et ceux qui allaient par les chemins allaient par des routes détournées.
7 The strong men ceased, and they rested in Israel, until Deborah rose up, until a mother rose up in Israel.
Les villes non murées n'étaient plus habitées en Israël, elles n'étaient point habitées, jusqu'à ce que je me suis levée, moi Débora, jusqu'à ce que je me suis levée pour être mère en Israël.
8 The Lord chose new wars, and he himself overturned the gates of the enemies. A shield with a spear was not seen among the forty thousand of Israel.
[Israël] choisissait-il des dieux nouveaux? alors la guerre était aux portes. A-t-il été vu bouclier ou lance en quarante mille d'Israël?
9 My heart loves the leaders of Israel. All you who, of your own free will, offered yourselves during a crisis, bless the Lord.
J'ai mon cœur vers les Gouverneurs d'Israël, qui se sont portés volontairement d'entre le peuple. Bénissez l'Eternel.
10 You who ride upon donkeys laboring, and you who sit in judgment, and you who walk along the way, speak out.
Vous qui montez sur les ânesses blanches, [et] qui êtes assis dans le siège de la justice, et vous qui allez dans les chemins, parlez.
11 Where the chariots were struck together, and the army of the enemies was choked, in that place, let the justices of the Lord be described, and let his clemency be for the brave of Israel. Then did the people of the Lord descend to the gates, and obtain leadership.
Le bruit des archers [ayant cessé] dans les lieux où l'on puisait l'eau, qu'on s'y entretienne des justices de l'Eternel, [et] des justices de ses villes non murées en Israël; alors le peuple de Dieu descendra aux portes.
12 Rise up, rise up, O Deborah! Rise up, rise up, and speak a canticle! Rise up, Barak, and seize your captives, O son of Abinoam.
Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Débora; réveille-toi, réveille-toi, dit le Cantique, lève-toi Barac, et emmène en captivité ceux que tu as faits captifs, toi fils d'Abinoham.
13 The remnants of the people were saved. The Lord contended with the strong.
[L'Eternel] a fait alors dominer le réchappé, le peuple sur les magnifiques; l'Eternel m'a fait dominer sur les forts.
14 Out of Ephraim, he destroyed those with Amalek, and after him, out of Benjamin, those of your people, O Amalek. From Machir, there descended leaders, and from Zebulun, those who led the army to war.
Leur racine est depuis Ephraïm jusqu'à Hamalek; Benjamin [a été] après toi parmi tes peuples; de Makir sont descendus les Gouverneurs; et de Zabulon ceux qui manient la plume du Scribe.
15 The commanders of Issachar were with Deborah, and they followed the steps of Barak, who endangered himself, like one rushing headlong into a chasm. Reuben was divided against himself. Contention was found among great souls.
Et les principaux d'Issacar ont été avec Débora, et Issacar ainsi que Barac; il a été envoyé avec sa suite dans la vallée; il y a eu aux séparations de Ruben, de grandes considérations dans leur cœur.
16 Why do you live between two borders, so that you hear the bleating of the flocks? Reuben was divided against himself. Contention was found among great souls.
Pourquoi t'es-tu tenu entre les barres des étables, afin d'entendre les cris des troupeaux? Il y a eu aux séparations de Ruben de grandes consultations dans leur cœur.
17 Gilead rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan was occupied with ships. Asher was living on the shore of the sea, and dwelling in the ports.
Galaad est demeuré au delà du Jourdain; et pourquoi Dan s'est-il tenu aux navires? Aser s'est tenu aux ports de la mer, et il est demeuré dans ses havres.
18 Yet truly, Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merom.
Mais pour Zabulon, c'est un peuple qui a exposé son âme à la mort; et Nephthali aussi, sur les hauteurs de la campagne.
19 The kings came and fought; the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach, beside the waters of Megiddo. And yet they took no spoils.
Les Rois sont venus, ils ont combattu; les Rois de Canaan ont alors combattu à Tahanac, près des eaux de Méguiddo; mais ils n'ont point fait de gain d'argent.
20 The conflict against them was from heaven. The stars, remaining in their order and courses, fought against Sisera.
On a combattu des cieux, les étoiles, [dis-je], ont combattu du lieu de leur cours contre Sisera.
21 The torrent of Kishon dragged away their carcasses, the onrushing torrent, the torrent of Kishon. O my soul, tread upon the stalwart!
Le torrent de Kison les a emportés, le torrent de Kédummim, le torrent de Kison; mon âme tu as foulé aux pieds la force.
22 The hoofs of the horses were broken, while the strongest of the enemies fled away with fury, and rushed on to ruin.
Alors a été rompue la corne des pieds des chevaux par le battement des pieds, par le battement, [dis-je], des pieds de ses puissants [chevaux].
23 ‘Cursed be the land of Meroz!’ said the Angel of the Lord. ‘Cursed be its inhabitants! For they did not come to the aid of the Lord, to the assistance of his most valiant men.’
Maudissez Meroz, a dit l'Ange de l'Eternel; maudissez, maudissez ses habitants, car ils ne sont point venus au secours de l'Eternel, au secours de l'Eternel, avec les forts.
24 Blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. And blessed is she in her tabernacle.
Bénie soit par-dessus toutes les femmes Jahel, femme de Héber Kénien, qu'elle soit bénie par-dessus les femmes [qui se tiennent] dans les tentes.
25 He begged her for water, and she gave him milk, and she offered him butter in a dish fit for princes.
Il a demandé de l'eau, elle lui a donné du lait; elle lui a présenté de la crème dans la coupe des magnifiques.
26 She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman’s mallet. And she struck Sisera, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing his temples.
Elle a avancé sa main gauche au clou et sa main droite au marteau des ouvriers; elle a frappé Sisera, et lui a fendu la tête; elle a transpercé et traversé ses tempes.
27 Between her feet, he was ruined. He fainted away and passed on. He curled up before her feet, and he lay there lifeless and miserable.
Il s'est courbé entre les pieds de [Jahel], il est tombé, il a été étendu entre les pieds de Jahel, il s'est courbé, il est tombé; [et] au lieu où il s'est courbé, il est tombé là tout défiguré.
28 His mother gazed through a window and wailed. And she spoke from an upper room: ‘Why does his chariot delay in returning? Why are the feet of his team of horses so slow?’
La mère de Sisera regardait par la fenêtre, et s'écriait [en regardant] par les treillis: Pourquoi son char tarde-t-il à venir? Pourquoi ses chariots vont-ils si lentement?
29 One who was wiser than the rest of his wives responded to her mother-in-law with this:
Et les plus sages de ses dames lui ont répondu; et elle aussi se répondait à soi-même:
30 ‘Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the most beautiful among the women is being selected for him. Garments of diverse colors are being delivered to Sisera as spoils, and various goods are being collected for the adornment of necks.’
N'ont-ils pas trouvé? ils partagent le butin; une fille, deux filles à chacun par tête. Le butin [des vêtements] de couleurs est à Sisera, le butin de couleurs de broderie; couleur de broderie à deux endroits, autour du cou de ceux du butin.
31 O Lord, so may all your enemies perish! But may those who love you shine with splendor, as the sun shines at its rising.” And the land rested for forty years.
Qu'ainsi périssent, ô Eternel! tous tes ennemis; et que ceux qui t'aiment soient comme le soleil quand il sort en sa force. Or le pays fut en repos quarante ans.
