< Jeremiah 33 >

1 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still confined to the atrium of the prison, saying:
Naʻe hoko foki ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ko hono liunga ua, ʻi heʻene kei nofo ʻi he lotoʻā ʻoe fale fakapōpula, ʻo pehē,
2 “Thus says the Lord, who will prepare, and form, and accomplish it; the Lord is his name.
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻaia naʻe fakatupu ia, ko Sihova ʻaia naʻe ngaohi ia, ke fokotuʻumaʻu ia; ko Sihova hono huafa;
3 Cry out to me and I will heed you. And I will announce to you great things, things that are certain, though you do not know them.
‘Ui kiate au, pea te u talia koe, pea te u fakahā kiate koe ʻae ngaahi meʻa lahi, mo e ngaahi meʻa fufū, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻiloʻi.’
4 For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the houses of this city, and to the houses of the king of Judah, which have been destroyed, and to the fortifications, and to the sword
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, ki he ngaahi fale ʻoe kolo ni, pea ki he ngaahi fale ʻoe ngaahi tuʻi ʻo Siuta, ʻaia kuo lī ki lalo ʻi he ngaahi puke māʻolunga, pea mo e heletā;
5 of those who have arrived, so that they may fight with the Chaldeans, and so that they may have their fill of the dead bodies of the men whom I have struck down in my fury and in my indignation, concealing my face from this city, because of all their wickedness:
Naʻa nau haʻu ke tau mo e kau Kalitia, ka ko e meʻa ke fakapito ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae ʻangaʻanga ʻoe kakai, ʻakinautolu kuo u tāmateʻi ʻi heʻeku tuputāmaki mo hoku houhau, mo kinautolu kotoa pē kuo u fakafufū ai hoku fofonga mei he kolo ni koeʻuhi ko ʻenau angahala.
6 Behold, I will lead over them scars and health, and I will cure them. And I will reveal to them an invocation of peace and truth.
‘Vakai, te u ʻomi kiate ia ʻae moʻui, pea mo e faitoʻo ʻaonga, pea te u fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu, pea te u fakahā kiate kinautolu ʻae fiemālie mo e moʻoni lahi.
7 And I will convert the turning away of Judah and the turning away of Jerusalem. And I will build them up, just as from the beginning.
Pea te u liliu ʻae pōpula ʻo Siuta, mo e pōpula ʻo ʻIsileli, pea te u langa ʻakinautolu, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻi muʻa.
8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, by which they have sinned against me. And I will forgive all their iniquities, by which they have offended against me and have despised me.
Pea te u fakamaʻa ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi hia kotoa pē, ʻaia kuo nau angahala ʻaki kiate au; pea te u fakamolemole ʻenau ngaahi hia kotoa pē, ʻaia kuo nau angahala aki, mo fai kovi ai kiate au.
9 And this will be for me: a name, and a joy, and a praise, and an exultation, among all the nations of the earth who will hear about all the good things that I will accomplish for them. And they will be afraid and troubled over all these good things, and over all the peace, that I will accomplish for them.
Pea ʻe ʻiate au ia ko e hingoa ʻoe fiefia, pea ko e ongoongolelei mo e nāunau ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai kotoa pē ʻo māmani, ʻakinautolu ʻe fanongo ki he lelei kotoa pē ʻaia te u fai kiate kinautolu: pea te nau manavahē mo tetetete koeʻuhi ko e lelei kotoa pē pea mo e monūʻia ʻaia te u ʻomi kiate kinautolu.’”
10 Thus says the Lord: Still shall there be heard in this place, (which you say is desolate, because there is neither man nor beast, ) and in the cities of Judah and outside of Jerusalem, (which are desolate, without man, and without an inhabitant and without cattle, )
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “ʻE toe ongoʻi ʻi he potu ni, ʻaia ʻoku mou pehē ʻe lala ia pea taʻehatangata pe ha manu, ‘ʻIo, ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta, pea mo e ngaahi hala ʻo Selūsalema, ʻaia ʻoku lala ʻo taʻehatangata, pea taʻehakakai, pe ha manu,’
11 the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: ‘Confess to the Lord of hosts! For the Lord is good! For his mercy is eternal!’ and the voice of those fulfilling their vows in the house of the Lord. For I will lead back the turning away of the land, just as from the beginning, says the Lord.”
He te u pule ke liliu mai ʻae pōpula ʻoe fonua, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻi he kamataʻanga,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
12 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Still shall there be in this place, (which is desolate without man and without beast, ) and in all of its cities: a habitation for the shepherds giving rest to their flocks.
13 For even in the cities on the mountains, and in the cities on the plains, and in the cities that are toward the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and all around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, still shall the flocks travel by the hand of him who numbers them, says the Lord.
Pea ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga, pea ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻi he ngaahi potu tokalelei, pea ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻi he feituʻu tonga, pea ʻi he fonua ʻo Penisimani, pea ʻi he ngaahi potu ʻoku ofi ki Selūsalema, pea ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta, ʻe toe ʻalu ʻae fanga sipi ʻi he lalo nima ʻo ia ʻoku ne lau ʻakinautolu,” ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova.
14 Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the good word that I have spoken to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
‌ʻOka pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻaho, te u fakahoko ai ʻae meʻa lelei ʻaia naʻaku tala ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pea mo e fale ʻo Siuta.
15 In those days and at that time, I will cause the seedling of justice to spring up from David, and he will accomplish judgment and justice upon the earth.
‌ʻI he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, pea mo e kuonga ko ia, te u fakatupu kia Tevita ʻae vaʻa ʻoe māʻoniʻoni; pea te ne fai ʻae fakamaau mo e angatonu ʻi he fonua.
16 In those days, Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
‌ʻE fakamoʻui ʻa Siuta ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, pea ʻe nofo fiemālie ʻa Selūsalema: pea ko e [huafa ]eni ʻe ui ʻaki ia, ‘Ko Sihova ko hotau māʻoniʻoni.’
17 For thus says the Lord: There shall not cease to be a man from David sitting upon the throne of the house of Israel.
“He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; ʻE ʻikai ʻaupito masiva ʻa Tevita ʻi he tangata ke nofo ʻi he nofoʻanga fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli;
18 And there shall not cease to be a man from the priests and from the Levites before my face, who offers holocausts, and burns sacrifices, and kills victims, for days without end.”
Pea ʻe ʻikai masiva ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ko e kau Livai ʻi ha tangata ʻi hoku ʻao ke ʻatu ʻae feilaulau tutu, pea ke tutu ʻae feilaulau kai, pea ke fai ʻae feilaulau maʻuaipē.”
19 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
Pea naʻe hoko ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
20 “Thus says the Lord: If my covenant with the day is able to be nullified, or my covenant with the night, such that there would be no day and no night in their time,
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; ‘Kapau te mou faʻa maumauʻi ʻeku fuakava ki he ʻaho, pea mo ʻeku fuakava ki he pō, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa hoko fakaholoholo ʻae ʻaho mo e pō;
21 then, too, my covenant with David, my servant, may be nullified, such that he would not have a son who reigns upon his throne, with both the Levites and the priests as my ministers.
Pea tā ʻe toki maumauʻi foki ʻeku fuakava mo Tevita ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa maʻu ʻe ia ʻae foha ke pule ʻi hono puleʻanga; pea mo e kau Livai ko e kau taulaʻeiki, ʻoku nau tauhi kiate au.
22 Just as the stars of heaven are not able to be numbered, and the sand of the sea is not able to be measured, so will I multiply the offspring of David, my servant, and the Levites, my ministers.”
‌ʻO hangē ʻoku ʻikai faʻa lau ʻae ngaahi fetuʻu ʻoe langi, pea ʻoku ʻikai faʻa fuofua ʻae ʻoneʻone ʻi he matātahi: Te u fakatupu pehē ʻae hako ʻo Tevita ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki, pea mo e kau Livai ʻoku tauhi kiate au.’”
23 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
Pea naʻe toe hoko foki ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
24 “Have you not seen what this people has spoken? They say: ‘The two families which the Lord had chosen have been rejected.’ And so they have despised my people, as if they were no longer a nation in their sight.
“ʻIkai te ke tokanga ki he lea kuo lea ʻaki ʻe he kakai ni, ʻo pehē, ‘Ko e faʻahinga ʻe ua ʻaia naʻe fili ʻe Sihova, kuo ne liʻaki ʻakinautolu,’ pea kuo nau manuki ki hoku kakai, ʻo hangē ʻe ʻikai te nau toe hoko ko e puleʻanga ʻi honau ʻao.”
25 Thus says the Lord: If I have not established my covenant with the day and the night, and my laws over heaven and earth,
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Kapau ʻoku ʻikai ʻi heʻeku fuakava ʻae ʻaho mo e pō, pea kapau ʻoku ʻikai te u tuʻutuʻuni ʻae ngaahi fono ʻoe langi mo māmani;
26 then truly I will also cast aside the offspring of Jacob, and of David, my servant, so that I do not take up any of his offspring to be leaders over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will lead back their turning away, and I will take pity on them.”
