James 2
1 My brothers, within the glorious faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, do not choose to show favoritism toward persons.
मेरा भाइहरू हो, केही मानिसहरूप्रति पक्षपात गर्दै महिमाका प्रभु हाम्रा प्रभु येशू ख्रीष्टमा तिमीहरूले विश्वास नगर ।
2 For if a man has entered your assembly having a gold ring and splendid apparel, and if a poor man has also entered, in dirty clothing,
विचार गर कि कोही मानिस तिमीहरूको सभामा सुनका औँठीहरू र राम्रा-राम्रा लुगाहरू लगाएर प्रवेश गर्यो र त्यहाँ एउटा गरिब मानिस पनि फोहोर पहिरनमा आयो ।
3 and if you are then attentive to the one who is clothed in excellent apparel, so that you say to him, “You may sit in this good place,” but you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit below my footstool,”
यदि तिमीहरूले त्यस राम्रा-राम्रा लुगा लगाएको मानिसतर्फ हेर्छौ र “कृपया यहाँ यस राम्रो स्थानमा बस्नुहोस्” भनेर भन्छौ, तर तिमीहरूले त्यस गरिब मानिसलाई “तँ यहीँ उभी” वा “मेरो पाउनेर बस्” भनेर भन्छौ भने,
4 are you not judging within yourselves, and have you not become judges with unjust thoughts?
के तिमीहरूले आफैँबिच न्याय गरिरहेका छैनौ र? के तिमीहरू दुष्ट विचारहरू भएका न्यायकर्ताहरू बनेनौ र?
5 My most beloved brothers, listen. Has not God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that God has promised to those who love him?
मेरा प्रिय भाइहरू हो, सुन, के परमेश्वरले संसारका गरिबहरूलाई विश्वासमा धनी हुनको निम्ति र उहाँलाई प्रेम गर्नेहरूका निम्ति उहाँले प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको राज्यको उत्तराधिकारीहरू हुनलाई चुन्नुभएन र?
6 But you have dishonored the poor. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you through power? And are not they the ones who drag you to judgment?
तर तिमीहरूले गरिबहरूलाई अनादर गरेका छौ । के तिमीहरूमाथि दमन गर्ने धनीहरू नै होइनन् र? र तिमीहरूलाई अदालतमा तानेर लैजाने तिनीहरू नै होइनन् र?
7 Are not they the ones who blaspheme the good name which has been invoked over you?
तिमीहरू जसका हौ, उहाँको सुनामलाई तिनीहरूले नै अपमान गर्दैनन् र?
8 So if you perfect the regal law, according to the Scriptures, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” then you do well.
तथापि, यदि तिमीहरूले “आफ्ना छिमेकीलाई आफूलाई झैँ प्रेम गर” भन्ने धर्मशास्त्रको राजकीय व्यवस्थालाई पुरा गर्दछौ भने, तिमीहरूले असलै गर्दछौ ।
9 But if you show favoritism to persons, then you commit a sin, having been convicted again by the law as transgressors.
तर यदि तिमीहरूले कोही मानिसहरूप्रति भेदभाव देखायौ भने, तिमीहरूले पाप गरेका हुन्छौ, र तिमीहरू व्यवस्थाद्वारा व्यवस्थाको उल्लङ्घन गर्नेहरू भनी दोषी ठहरिन्छौ ।
10 Now whoever has observed the whole law, yet who offends in one matter, has become guilty of all.
किनकि जसले सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्था पालन गर्दछ, तर एउटै कुरामा मात्र ठक्कर खान्छ भने, त्यो सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्थाको उल्लङ्घन गरेकोमा दोषी ठहरिन्छ ।
11 For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not kill.” So if you do not commit adultery, but you kill, you have become a transgressor of the law.
किनभने जसले “व्यभिचार नगर” भनेर भन्नुभयो उहाँले “हत्या नगर” पनि भन्नुभयो । यदि तिमीहरूले व्यभिचार गर्दैनौ, तर हत्या गर्छौ भने तिमीहरूले व्यवस्थाको उल्लङ्घन गर्छौ ।
12 So speak and act just as you are beginning to be judged, by the law of liberty.
यसकारण, स्वतन्त्रताको व्यवस्थाद्वारा न्याय हुनेहरूझैँ गरी बोल र व्यवहार गर ।
13 For judgment is without mercy toward him who has not shown mercy. But mercy exalts itself above judgment.
किनकि कृपा नदेखाउनेहरूमाथि कृपाविना नै न्याय आउँदछ । कृपा न्यायमाथि विजयी हुन्छ ।
14 My brothers, what benefit is there if someone claims to have faith, but he does not have works? How would faith be able to save him?
मेरा भाइहरू हो, यदि कोही मानिसले उसित विश्वास छ भनी भन्दछ तर उसले कुनै काम गर्दैन भने, त्यसबाट के लाभ? के त्यस विश्वासले उसलाई बचाउन सक्छ र?
15 So if a brother or sister is naked and daily in need of food,
विचार गर, कि कोही भाइ वा बहिनीको पहिरन राम्रो छैन र उसको निम्ति दैनिक भोजनको अभाव छ ।
16 and if anyone of you were to say to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and nourished,” and yet not give them the things that are necessary for the body, of what benefit is this?
विचार गर, कि तिमीहरूमध्ये कसैले उसलाई “शान्तिसँग जाऊ, न्यानो गरी बस र पेटभरि खाऊ” भनेर भन्छौ । यदि तिमीहरूले शरीरलाई आवश्यक पर्ने कुराहरूचाहिँ तिनीहरूलाई दिँदैनौ भने, त्यसबाट के लाभ भयो र?
17 Thus even faith, if it does not have works, is dead, in and of itself.
यसै गरी, विश्वासले पनि काम गर्दैन भने त्यो मरेतुल्य हुन्छ ।
18 Now someone may say: “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works! But I will show you my faith by means of works.
तर पनि कसैले यसो भन्ला, “तिमीहरूसँग विश्वास छ, र मसँग कामहरू छन् ।” कामविना तिमीहरूको विश्वास मलाई देखाऊ र मैले मेरा कामहरूद्वारा आफ्नो विश्वास तिमीहरूलाई देखाउनेछु ।
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. But the demons also believe, and they tremble greatly.
परमेश्वर एउटै हुनुहुन्छ भनेर तिमीहरू विश्वास गर्दछौ; तिमीहरूले त्यो असल गर्दछौ । तर भूतात्माहरूले पनि विश्वास गर्दछन्, र तिनीहरू थरथर काम्छन् ।
20 So then, are you willing to understand, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
मूर्ख मानिस हो, के तिमी यो जान्न चाहन्छौ, कि कामविनाको विश्वास व्यर्थ हुन्छ?
21 Was not our father Abraham justified by means of works, by offering his son Isaac upon the altar?
जब हाम्रा पुर्खा अब्राहामले वेदीमा आफ्ना पुत्र इसहाकलाई अर्पण गरे, के उनी कामद्वारा नै धर्मी ठहरिएका थिएनन् र?
22 Do you see that faith was cooperating with his works, and that by means of works faith was brought to fulfillment?
तिमीहरू देख्दछौ, कि उनका कामहरूसँगै विश्वासले कार्य गर्यो, र कामहरूद्वारा नै उनको विश्वास पूर्ण भयो ।
23 And so the Scripture was fulfilled which says: “Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.” And so he was called the friend of God.
धर्मशास्त्रको यस्तो भन्ने वचन पुरा भयो, “अब्राहामले परमेश्वरमा विश्वास गरे, र त्यो उनको निम्ति धार्मिकता गनियो ।” र उनि परमेश्वरको मित्र कहलिए ।
24 Do you see that a man is justified by means of works, and not by faith alone?
तिमीहरू देख्दछौ, कि कामद्वारा मानिस धर्मी ठहरिन्छ, विश्वासद्वारा मात्र होइन ।
25 Similarly also, Rahab, the harlot, was she not justified by works, by receiving the messengers and sending them out through another way?
त्यसै गरी, राहाब वेश्याले पनि गुप्तचरहरूलाई स्वागत गरेर अर्कै बाटोबाट पठाइदिँदा, के तिनी कामद्वारा नै धर्मी ठहरिएकी होइनन् र?
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
जसरी आत्मादेखि अलग हुँदा शरीर मर्दछ, त्यसै गरी कामबाट अलग हुँदा विश्वास पनि मर्दछ ।
