Isaiah 5
1 I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my paternal cousin, about his vineyard. A vineyard was made for my beloved, at the horn in the son of oil.
Ahora pues cantaré por mi amado el cantar de mi amado a su viña. Mi amado tenía una viña en un recuesto lugar fértil.
2 And he fenced it in, and he picked the stones out of it, and he planted it with the best vines, and he built a tower in the middle of it, and he set up a winepress within it. And he expected it to produce grapes, but it produced wild vines.
Habíala cercado, y despedregádola, y plantádola de plantas escogidas: había edificado en medio de ella una torre, y también asentado en ella un lagar; y esperaba que llevase uvas, y llevó uvas montesinas.
3 Now then, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah: judge between me and my vineyard.
Ahora pues, vecinos de Jerusalem, y varones de Judá, juzgád ahora entre mí y mi viña.
4 What more should I have done for my vineyard that I did not do for it? Should I not have expected it to produce grapes, though it produced wild vines?
¿Qué más se había de hacer a mi viña, que yo no hice en ella? ¿Cómo esperando yo que llevase uvas, llevó uvas montesinas?
5 And now, I will reveal to you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its fence, and it will be plundered. I will pull down its wall, and it will be trampled.
Ahora, pues, mostraros he lo que yo haré a mi viña: quitarle he su vallado, y será para ser pacida: aportillaré su cerca, y será para ser hollada.
6 And I will make it desolate. It will not be pruned, and it will not be dug. And briers and thorns will rise up. And I will command the clouds not to rain upon it.
Haré que quede desierta: no será podada, ni cavada; y crecerá el cardo, y las espinas; y aun a las nubes mandaré que no lluevan sobre ella lluvia.
7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel. And the man of Judah is his delightful seedling. And I expected that he would do judgment, and behold iniquity, and that he would do justice, and behold an outcry.
Ciertamente la viña de Jehová de los ejércitos la casa de Israel es, y todo hombre de Judá planta suya deleitosa. Esperaba de ahí juicio, y he aquí, opresión: justicia, y he aquí, clamor.
8 Woe to you who join house to house, and who combine field to field, even to the limits of the place! Do you intend to live alone in the midst of the earth?
¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa, y allegan heredad a heredad, hasta acabar el término! ¿Habitaréis vosotros solos en medio de la tierra?
9 These things are in my ears, says the Lord of hosts. Otherwise, many houses, great and beautiful, will become desolate, without an inhabitant.
Esto, a los oídos de Jehová de los ejércitos. Si las muchas casas no fueren asoladas, las grandes y hermosas sin morador.
10 Then ten acres of vineyard will produce one small bottle of wine, and thirty measures of seed will produce three measures of grain.
Y aun, si diez huebras de viña no dieren una arroba, y una hanega de simiente la décima parte.
11 Woe to you who rise up in the morning to pursue drunkenness, and to drink even until evening, so as to be inflamed with wine.
¡Ay de los que se levantan de mañana para seguir la embriaguez, que se están hasta la noche, hasta que el vino los enciende!
12 Harp and lyre and timbrel and pipe, as well as wine, are at your feasts. But you do not respect the work of the Lord, nor do you consider the works of his hands.
Y en sus banquetes hay arpas, vihuelas, tamboriles, flautas, y vino; y no miran la obra de Jehová, ni ven la obra de sus manos.
13 Because of this, my people have been led away as captives, for they did not have knowledge, and their nobles have passed away from famine, and their multitudes have dried up from thirst.
Por tanto mi pueblo fue llevado cautivo, porque no tuvo ciencia; y su gloria pereció de hambre, y su multitud se secó de sed.
14 For this reason, Hell has expanded its soul, and has opened its mouth without any limits. And their strong ones, and their people, and their exalted and glorious ones will descend into it. (Sheol h7585)
Por tanto el infierno ensanchó su alma, y sin medida extendió su boca; y su gloria, y su multitud descendió allá; y su fausto, y el que se holgó en él. (Sheol h7585)
15 And man will be bowed down, and man will be humbled, and the eyes of the exalted will be brought low.
Y todo hombre será humillado, y todo varón será abatido, y los ojos de los altivos serán abajados.
16 And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will be sanctified in justice.
Mas Jehová de los ejércitos será ensalzado con juicio, y el Dios santo será santificado con justicia.
17 And the lambs will pasture in proper order, and new arrivals will eat from the deserts turned into fertile lands.
Y los corderos serán apacentados según su costumbre, y extraños comerán las gruesas desamparadas.
18 Woe to you who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and who draw sin as if with the rope of a cart,
¡Ay de los que traen tirando la iniquidad con sogas de vanidad, y el pecado como con látigos de carreta:
19 and who say: “Let him hurry, and let his work arrive soon, so that we may see it. And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach and arrive, so that we may know it.”
De los que dicen: Venga ya: dése priesa su obra, y veamos: acérquese, y venga el consejo del santo de Israel, para que sepamos!
20 Woe to you who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
¡Ay de los que a lo malo dicen bueno, y a lo bueno malo: que hacen de la luz tinieblas, y de las tinieblas luz: que tornan de lo amargo dulce, y de lo dulce amargo!
21 Woe to you who are wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own sight!
¡Ay de los sabios en sus ojos, y de los que son prudentes delante de si mismos!
22 Woe to you who are powerful at drinking wine, who are strong men in contriving inebriation!
¡Ay de los que son valientes para beber vino, y varones fuertes para mezclar bebida:
23 For you justify an impious man in exchange for bribes, and you carry away the justice of a just man from him.
Los que dan por justo al impío por cohechos, y al justo quitan su justicia!
24 Because of this, as the tongue of fire devours stubble, and as the heat of a flame burns it completely, so will their root become like glowing embers, and so will their offshoot ascend like dust. For they have cast aside the law of the Lord of hosts, and they have blasphemed the eloquence of the Holy One of Israel.
Por tanto, como la lengua del fuego consume las aristas, y la paja es deshecha de la llama, así será su raíz como podrición, y su flor se desvanecerá como polvo; porque desecharon la ley de Jehová de los ejércitos, y abominaron la palabra del santo de Israel.
25 For this reason, the fury of the Lord has been enraged against his people, and he has extended his hand over them, and he has struck them. And the mountains were disturbed. And their carcasses became like dung in the midst of the streets. After all this, his fury was not turned away; instead, his hand was still extended.
Por esta causa se encendió el furor de Jehová contra su pueblo; y extendiendo sobre él su mano le hirió, y los montes se estremecieron, y el cuerpo de ellos cortado en piezas fue echado en medio de las calles; y con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, antes todavía su mano está extendida.
26 And he will lift up a sign to nations far away, and he will whistle to them from the ends of the earth. And behold, they will rush forward speedily.
Y alzará pendón a naciones de lejos, y silbará al que está en el cabo de la tierra, y, he aquí que vendrá ligero y liviano.
27 There is no one weak or struggling among them. They will not become drowsy, and they will not sleep. Neither will the belt around their waist be loosened, nor the laces of their boots be broken.
No habrá entre ellos cansado, ni que tropiece: ninguno se dormirá, ni le tomará sueño: a ninguno se le desatará el cinto de los lomos, ni se le romperá la correa de sus zapatos.
28 Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are taut. The hoofs of their horses are like flint, and their wheels are like the force of a tempest.
Sus saetas aguzadas, y todos sus arcos entesados: las uñas de sus caballos parecerán como de pedernal, y las ruedas de sus carros como torbellino.
29 Their roaring is like the lion; they will roar like young lions. They will both roar and seize their prey. And they will wrap themselves around it, and there will be no one who can rescue it.
Su bramido como de león, bramará como leoncillos: batirá los dientes, y arrebatará la presa: apañará los despojos, y nadie se los quitará.
30 And in that day, they will make a noise over it, like the sound of the sea. We will gaze out toward the land, and behold, the darkness of the tribulation, and even the light has been darkened by its gloom.
Y bramará sobre él en aquel día como bramido de la mar: entonces mirará hacia la tierra, y he aquí tinieblas de tribulación, y en sus cielos se oscurecerá la luz.
