< Isaiah 26 >

1 In that day, this canticle will be sung in the land of Judah. Within it will be set the city of our strength: Zion, a savior, a wall with a bulwark.
‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia ʻe hiva ʻaki ʻae hiva ni ʻi he fonua ki Siuta; “ʻOku tau maʻu ʻae kolo mālohi; ʻe tuʻutuʻuni [ʻe he ʻOtua ]ʻae fakamoʻui ki hono ngaahi ʻā mo hono ngaahi puke.
2 Open the gates, and let the just people who guard the truth enter.
Mou toʻo ʻae ngaahi matapā, koeʻuhi ke hū ai ʻae puleʻanga māʻoniʻoni ʻaia ʻoku tauhi ʻae moʻoni.
3 The old error has gone away. You will serve peace: peace, for we have hoped in you.
Te ke tauhi ia ʻi he melino haohaoa, ʻaia ʻoku faʻaki hono loto kiate koe: koeʻuhi ʻoku ne falala kiate koe.
4 You have trusted in the Lord for all eternity, in the Lord God almighty forever.
Mou falala kia Sihova ʻo lauikuonga: he ʻoku ʻi he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻae māfimafi taʻengata.
5 For he will bend down those living in the heights. He will bring low the lofty city. He will lower it, even to the ground. He will tear it down, even to the dust.
He ʻoku ne ʻomi ki lalo ʻakinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he māʻolunga; ʻoku ne fakamoʻulaloa ʻae kolo māʻolunga, ʻoku ne fakamoʻulaloa ia, ʻio, ki he kelekele ʻoku ne ʻomi ia ki he efu.
6 The foot will tread it down: the feet of the poor, the steps of the indigent.
‌ʻE malaki hifo ia ʻaki ʻae vaʻe, ʻio, ʻae vaʻe ʻoe paea, pea mo e laka ʻae masiva.”
7 The path of the just is upright; the difficult path of the just is right to walk in.
Ko e hala ʻoe angatonu ko e māʻoniʻoni ia: ʻa koe, ko e fungani māʻoniʻoni, ʻoku ke fakamamafa ʻae hala ʻoe angatonu.
8 And in the path of your judgments, O Lord, we have endured for you. Your name and your remembrance are the desire of the soul.
‌ʻIo, kuo mau tatali kiate koe, ʻE Sihova, ʻi he hala ʻo hoʻo ngaahi fakamaau; ʻoku holi ʻa homau laumālie ki ho huafa, pea ʻi he fakamanatu kiate koe.
9 My soul has desired you in the night. But I will also watch for you with my spirit, in my inmost heart, from the morning. When you accomplish your judgments upon the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn justice.
Kuo u holi ʻi hoku laumālie kiate koe ʻi he pō; ʻio, te u kumi vave kiate koe ʻaki ʻa hoku laumālie ʻi loto ʻiate au: he ka ʻi he fonua ʻa hoʻo ngaahi fakamaau, ʻe toki ako ʻae kakai ʻo māmani ki he māʻoniʻoni.
10 Let us take pity on the impious one, but he will not learn justice. In the land of the holy ones, he has done iniquity, and so he will not see the glory of the Lord.
Ke hā ʻae ʻaloʻofa ki he angakovi, ka e ʻikai te ne ako ki he māʻoniʻoni: ʻi he fonua ʻoe angatonu te ne fai kākā, pea ʻe ʻikai te ne mamata ki he māfimafi ʻa Sihova.
11 Lord, let your hand be exalted, and let them not see it. May the envious people see and be confounded. And may fire devour your enemies.
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoka hiki hake ho nima, ʻe ʻikai te nau mamata: ka te nau mamata, pea te nau mā koeʻuhi ko e meheka ki hoʻo kakai; ʻio, ʻe ʻauha ʻi he afi ʻa ho ngaahi fili.
12 Lord, you will give us peace. For all our works have been wrought for us by you.
ʻE Sihova te ke tuʻutuʻuni ʻae fiemālie maʻanautolu: he kuo ke fai ʻe koe ʻa ʻemau ngaahi ngāue kotoa pē ʻiate kimautolu.
13 O Lord our God, other lords have possessed us apart from you, but in you alone let us remember your name.
‌ʻE Sihova ko homau ʻOtua, kuo puleʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe he ngaahi ʻeiki kehe: ka e talu mei heni te mau takua ho huafa ʻoʻou.
14 Let not the dead live; let not the giants rise up again. For this reason, you have visited and destroyed them, and you have perished all remembrance of them.
Kuo nau mate, ʻe ʻikai te nau moʻui; kuo nau pekia, ʻe ʻikai te nau toetuʻu: ko ia kuo ke ʻaʻahi mo fakaʻauhaʻi ʻakinautolu, pea kuo ke fakangata honau fakamanatu kotoa pē.
15 You have been lenient to the people, O Lord, lenient to the people. But have you been glorified? You have removed all the limits of the earth.
Kuo ke fakatokolahi ʻae puleʻanga, ʻE Sihova, kuo ke fakatokolahi ʻae puleʻanga: kuo fakaongoleleiʻi koe: kuo ke fakamanatu ʻae ngaahi ngataʻanga kotoa pē ʻoe fonua.
16 Lord, they have sought you in anguish. Your doctrine was with them, amid the tribulation of murmuring.
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻi he tuʻutāmaki kuo mau ʻaʻahi kiate koe, naʻa mau lilingi ʻae lotu ʻi he hoko hoʻo tautea kiate kimautolu.
17 Like a woman who has conceived and is approaching the time for delivery, who, in anguish, cries out in her pains, so have we become before your face, O Lord.
Hangē ʻoku mamahi ha fefine feitama, ʻoka fakaʻaʻau ke ofi ʻene fāʻele, pea ʻoku tangi ʻi heʻene langā: kuo pehē ʻakimautolu ʻi ho ʻao, ʻE Sihova.
18 We have conceived, and it is as if we were in labor, but we have given birth to wind. We have not brought forth salvation on the earth. For this reason, the inhabitants of the earth have not fallen.
19 Your dead shall live. My slain will rise again. Be awakened, and give praise, you who live in the dust! For your dew is the dew of the light, and you shall be dragged down to the land of the giants, to ruination.
‌ʻE moʻui ʻa hoʻo kakai mate, te nau toetuʻu fakataha mo hoku sino mate ni. Mou ʻa ʻo hiva, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he efu: he ʻoku tatau hoʻo hahau mo e hahau ʻoe mohuku mata, pea ʻe puʻaki ʻe he kelekele ʻae mate.
20 Go, my people! Enter your chambers. Close your doors behind you. Conceal yourselves for a very brief time, until the indignation has passed over you.
Haʻu, ʻa hoku kakai, pea hū ki homou ngaahi loki, pea tāpuni ho matapā kiate koe: fufū koe ʻo fuoloa siʻi, kaeʻoua ke mole atu ʻae houhau.
21 For behold, the Lord will go forth from his place, so that he may visit the iniquity of each inhabitant of the earth against him. And the earth will reveal its blood, and it will no longer cover its slain.
He vakai, ʻoku hāʻele ʻa Sihova mei hono potu ke tautea ʻae kakai ʻo māmani koeʻuhi ko ʻenau hia: pea ʻe fakahā ʻe he fonua hono toto, pea ʻe ʻikai toe ʻufiʻufi hono kakai kuo tāmateʻi.
