Isaiah 25
1 O Lord, you are my God! I will exalt you, and I will confess your name. For you have accomplished miracles. Your plan, from antiquity, is faithful. Amen.
Ó Senhor, tu és o meu Deus; exaltar-te-ei a ti, e louvarei o teu nome, porque fizeste maravilhas: os teus conselhos antigos são verdade e firmeza.
2 For you have appointed a city as a tomb, a strong city for ruination, a house of foreigners: so that it may not be a city, and so that it may not be rebuilt forever.
Porque da cidade fizeste um montão de pedras, e da forte cidade uma inteira ruína, e do paço dos estranhos, que não seja mais cidade, e jamais se torne a edificar.
3 Concerning this, a strong people will praise you; a city with a robust people will fear you.
Pelo que te glorificará um poderoso povo, e a cidade das nações formidáveis te temerá.
4 For you have been the strength of the poor, the strength of the indigent in his tribulation, a refuge from the whirlwind, a shadow from the heat. For the spirit of the mighty is like a whirlwind striking against a wall.
Porque foste a fortaleza do pobre, e a fortaleza do necessitado, na sua angústia: refúgio contra o alagamento, e sombra contra o calor; porque o sopro dos tiranos é como o alagamento contra o muro.
5 You will bring low the uprising of foreigners, just as heat brings thirst. And like heat under a torrential cloud, you will cause the offshoot of the strong to wither away.
Como o calor em lugar seco, assim abaterás o ímpeto dos estranhos; como se aplaca o calor pela sombra da espessa nuvem, assim o cântico dos tiranos será humilhado.
6 And the Lord of hosts will cause all the peoples on this mountain to feast on fatness, to feast on wine, a fatness full of marrow, a purified wine.
E o Senhor dos exércitos fará neste monte a todos os povos um convite de cevados, convite de vinhos puros, de tutanos gordos, e de vinhos puros, bem purificados.
7 And he will cast down violently, on this mountain, the face of the chains, with which all peoples had been bound, and the net, with which all nations had been covered.
E devorará neste monte a máscara do rosto, com que todos os povos andam cobertos, e a cobertura com que todas as nações se cobrem.
8 He will violently cast down death forever. And the Lord God will take away the tears from every face, and he will take away the disgrace of his people from the entire earth. For the Lord has spoken it.
Devorará também a morte com vitória, e assim enxugará o Senhor Jehovah as lágrimas de todos os rostos, e tirará o opróbrio do seu povo de toda a terra; porque o Senhor o disse.
9 And they will say in that day: “Behold, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord! We have endured for him. We will exult and rejoice in his salvation.”
E naquele dia se dirá: eis que este é o nosso Deus, a quem aguardavamos, e ele nos salvará: este é o Senhor, a quem aguardavamos: na sua salvação pois nos gozaremos e alegraremos.
10 For the hand of the Lord will rest upon this mountain. And Moab will be trampled under him, just as stubble is worn away by a wagon.
Porque a mão do Senhor descançará neste monte; mas Moab será trilhado debaixo dele, como se trilha a palha no monturo.
11 And he will extend his hands under him, like a swimmer extending his hands to swim. And he will bring down his glory with a clap of his hands.
E estenderá as suas mãos por entre eles, como as estende o nadador para nadar: e abaterá a sua altivez com as ciladas das suas mãos deles.
12 And the fortifications of your sublime walls will fall, and be brought low, and be torn down to the ground, even to the dust.
E abaixará as altas fortalezas dos teus muros, as abaterá e as derribará em terra até ao pó.
