Deuteronomy 18

1 “The priests and the Levites, and all who are from the same tribe, shall have no portion or inheritance with the rest of Israel. For they shall eat the sacrifices of the Lord and his oblations.

Ang mga pari, nga mga Levita, ug ang tibuok tribo ni Levi, dili makaangkon ug bahin ni panulondon sa Israel; kinahanglan kaonon nila ang mga halad nga sinunog alang kang Yahweh isip ilang panulondon.

2 And they shall receive nothing else from the possession of their brothers. For the Lord himself is their inheritance, just as he said to them.

Kinahanglang dili sila makaangkon ug panulondon diha sa ilang mga kaigsoonan; si Yahweh ang ilang panulondon, sama sa iyang gisulti ngadto kanila.

3 This shall be the recompense for the priests from the people, and from those who offer victims, whether they will immolate an ox or a sheep. They shall give to the priest the shoulder and the breast,

Mao kini ang bahin sa pari gikan sa katawhan, gikan niadtong maghalad, kung baka man kana o karnero: kinahanglan ihatag nila sa pari ang abaga, ang duha ka aping ug ang tungol.

4 the first-fruits of grain, wine, and oil, and a portion of the wool from the shearing of the sheep.

Kinahanglan nga ihatag kaniya ang unang bahin sa inyong abot sa trigo, sa bag-ong bino, sa inyong lana ug sa unang bahin sa balahibo sa inyong karnero.

5 For the Lord your God himself has chosen him out of all your tribes, so that he may stand and minister to the name of the Lord, him and his sons, forever.

Kay gipili siya ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios gikan sa tanan ninyong tribo aron mobarog sa pag-alagad sa ngalan ni Yahweh, siya ug ang iyang mga anak sa kahangtoran.

6 If a Levite departs from one of the cities, throughout all of Israel, in which he lives, and if he wills and desires to go to the place which the Lord will choose,

Kung adunay Levita nga maggikan sa bisan asa sa inyong mga lungsod gikan sa Israel kung asa siya nagpuyo, ug nagtinguha sa bug-os niyang kalag nga moadto sa dapit nga pilion ni Yahweh,

7 he shall minister in the name of the Lord his God, as do all his brothers, the Levites, who will be standing at that time in the sight of the Lord.

kinahanglan nga mag-alagad siya sa ngalan ni Yahweh nga iyang Dios sama sa ginabuhat sa iyang kaigsoonang mga Levita, nga nagbarog didto atubangan ni Yahweh.

8 He shall receive the same portion of food as the rest also receive, besides that which is due to him in his own city, by succession from his fathers.

Kinahanglan nga managsama lamang ang bahin nga ilang kaonon, gawas sa unsa ang halin sa panulondon sa iyang pamilya.

9 When you will have entered into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, be careful that you are not willing to imitate the abominations of those nations.

Sa dihang moabot na kamo sa yuta nga ihatag ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios kaninyo, kinahanglan dili ninyo sundogon ang mga gikasilagang butang nga ginabuhat niana nga mga nasod.

10 Do not let there be found among you one who would purify his son or daughter by leading them through fire, nor one who consults seers, nor one who observes dreams or omens. Do not let there be found among you one who practices the occult,

Kinahanglan walay makaplagan diha kaninyo nga si bisan kinsa nga magbutang sa iyang anak nga lalaki o sa iyang anak nga babaye ngadto sa kalayo, si bisan kinsa nga gapanagna, si bisan kinsa nga gapanghimalad, o anting-antingan, o diwatahan,

11 nor one who uses spells, nor one who consults demonic spirits, nor a diviner, nor one who seeks the truth from the dead.

si bisan kinsa nga manglumay, o bisan kinsa nga makig-istorya sa mga patay, o makig-istorya sa mga espiritu.

12 For the Lord abominates all these things. And, because of these wicked ways, he will destroy them at your arrival.

Kay si bisan kinsa nga gabuhat niining mga butanga gikasilagan ni Yahweh; tungod niining gikasilagang mga butang maong gipapahawa sila ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios gikan kaninyo.

13 You shall be perfect and without blemish with the Lord your God.

Kinahanglan putli kamo sa atubangan ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios.

14 These nations, whose land you shall possess, they listen to soothsayers and diviners. But you have been otherwise instructed by the Lord your God.

Kay kini nga mga nasod nga inyong papahawaon nagapaminaw niadtong nagabuhat sa diwatahan ug gapanagna; apan alang kaninyo, wala kamo gitugotan ni Yahweh nga inyong Dios nga magbuhat niining mga butanga.

15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a PROPHET from your nation and from your brothers, similar to me. You shall listen to him,

Magtuboy si Yahweh nga inyong Dios gikan diha kaninyo ug iyang propeta, usa sa inyong mga kaigsoonan, sama kanako. Kinahanglan maminaw kamo kaniya.

16 just as you petitioned of the Lord your God at Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and you said: ‘Let me no longer hear the voice of the Lord my God, and let me no longer see this very great fire, lest I die.’

Mao kini ang inyong gipangayo kang Yahweh nga inyong Dios didto sa Horeb sa adlaw sa panagtigom, nga nag-ingon, 'Dili na gayod kita angay nga makadungog sa tingog ni Yahweh nga atong Dios, ni makakita niining dakong kalayo, o mangamatay gayod kita.'

17 And the Lord said to me: ‘They have spoken all these things well.

Misulti si Yahweh kanako, 'Maayo ang ilang gisulti.

18 I will raise up a prophet for them, from the midst of their brothers, similar to you. And I will place my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all the things that I will instruct him.

Magtuboy ako ug propeta alang kanila gikan sa ilang kaigsoonan, sama kanimo. Ibutang ko ang akong mga pulong sa iyang baba, ug isulti niya kanilang tanan nga gisugo ko siya.

19 But against anyone who is not willing to listen to his words, which he will speak in my name, I will stand forth as the avenger.

Mahitabo kini nga kung adunay si bisan kinsa nga dili maminaw sa akong mga pulong nga iyang gisulti sa akong ngalan, paninglan ko siya.

20 But if a prophet, having been corrupted by arrogance, chooses to speak, in my name, things which I did not instruct him to say, or to speak in the name of foreign gods, he shall be put to death.

Apan ang propeta nga garbosong manulti sa akong ngalan, pulong nga wala nako gisugo kaniya nga isulti, o manulti sa ngalan sa ubang dios, kana gayod nga propeta kinahanglan mamatay.'

21 But if, in silent thought, you respond: “How will I be able to recognize a word which the Lord has not spoken?”

Mao kini ang inyong isulti sa inyong kasingkasing: 'Unsaon man namo pag-ila sa mensahe nga wala gisulti ni Yahweh?'

22 you shall have this sign. If whatever that prophet predicts in the name of the Lord does not happen, then the Lord has not spoken it. Instead, the prophet has formed it through the swelling of his own mind. And for this reason, you shall not fear him.’”

Mahibaloan ninyo ang mensahe nga wala gisulti ni Yahweh sa dihang ang propeta manulti sa ngalan ni Yahweh. Kung kana nga butang wala matuman o mahitabo, kana nga butang wala gisulti ni Yahweh ug gipanulti lamang kana sa propeta diha sa garbo, ug dili kamo angay nga mahadlok kaniya.
