Daniel 12

1 “But at that time Michael will rise up, the great leader, who stands up for the sons of your people. And a time will come, such as has not been from the time that nations began, even until that time. And, at that time, your people will be saved, all who will be found written in the book.

« En ce temps-là, se lèvera Micaël, le grand prince qui défend les enfants de ton peuple; et il y aura une époque de détresse, telle qu'il n'y en a jamais eu depuis que les nations existent jusqu'à cette époque. En ce temps-là, ton peuple sera délivré, tous ceux qui seront trouvés inscrits dans le livre.

2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awaken: some to everlasting life, and others to a reproach that they will always see.

Beaucoup de ceux qui dorment dans la poussière de la terre se réveilleront, les uns pour la vie éternelle, les autres pour la honte et le mépris éternel.

3 But those who have taught will shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who instruct many towards justice, like the stars for unending eternity.

Ceux qui sont sages brilleront comme l'éclat de l'étendue. Ceux qui auront ramené la multitude à la justice brilleront comme les étoiles, aux siècles des siècles.

4 But you, Daniel, close the message and seal the book, until the established time. Many will pass through, and knowledge will be increased.”

Mais toi, Daniel, tiens secrètes les paroles et scelle le livre, jusqu'au temps de la fin. Beaucoup de gens iront et viendront, et la connaissance augmentera. »

5 And I, Daniel, looked, and behold, similarly two others stood up, one over here, on the bank of the river, and the other over there, on the other bank of the river.

Alors moi, Daniel, je regardai, et voici, deux autres personnes se tenaient, l'une sur la rive du fleuve, de ce côté-ci, et l'autre sur la rive du fleuve, de ce côté-là.

6 And I said to the man, who was clothed in linen, who stood over the waters of the river, “How long will it be until the end of these wonders?”

L'un d'eux dit à l'homme vêtu de lin, qui était au-dessus des eaux du fleuve: « Combien de temps faudra-t-il pour que ces prodiges finissent? »

7 And I heard the man, who was clothed in linen, who stood over the waters of the river, when he had lifted his right hand and his left hand up to heaven, and had sworn by He who lives forever, that it would be for a time, and times, and half a time. And when the dispersion of the hand of the holy people is completed, all these things will be completed.

J'ai entendu l'homme vêtu de lin, qui était au-dessus des eaux du fleuve, lorsqu'il a levé sa main droite et sa main gauche vers le ciel, et qu'il a juré par celui qui vit éternellement que ce sera pour un temps, des temps et demi; et quand on aura achevé de briser la puissance du peuple saint, toutes ces choses seront achevées.

8 And I heard and did not understand. And I said, “My lord, what will be after these things?”

J'ai entendu, mais je n'ai pas compris. Alors j'ai dit: « Monseigneur, quel sera le résultat de ces choses? »

9 And he said, “Go, Daniel, for the words are closed and sealed until the predetermined time.

Il dit: « Va, Daniel, car les paroles sont enfermées et scellées jusqu'au temps de la fin.

10 Many will be chosen and purified, and, as if by fire, they will be tested, and the impious will act impiously, and none of the impious will understand, yet the teachers will understand.

Plusieurs se purifieront, se blanchiront et se raffineront, mais les méchants feront le mal; et aucun des méchants ne comprendra, mais les sages comprendront.

11 And from the time when the continual sacrifice will be taken away and the abomination of desolation will be set up, there will be one thousand two hundred ninety days.

« Depuis le moment où l'holocauste perpétuel aura disparu et où l'abomination qui désole sera dressée, il y aura mille deux cent quatre-vingt-dix jours.

12 Blessed is he who waits and reaches until one thousand three hundred thirty-five days.

Heureux celui qui attend et qui arrive aux mille trois cent trente-cinq jours!

13 But you, go, until the predetermined time, and you will rest and will stand in your allotted place at the end of days.

« Mais poursuis ton chemin jusqu'à la fin; car tu te reposeras et tu te tiendras dans ton héritage à la fin des jours. »
