< Amos 1 >

1 The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw about Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Ko e ngaahi lea ʻa ʻAmosi, ʻaia naʻe ʻi he kau tauhimanu ʻo Tikoa, ko e meʻa naʻa ne mamata ai ʻoku kau ki ʻIsileli ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻo ʻUsaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, pea ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻo Selopoami ko e foha ʻo Soasi ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻi hono ua taʻu naʻe muʻomuʻa ʻi he mofuike.
2 And he said: The Lord will roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem he will utter his voice. And the beautiful pastures have mourned, and the top of Carmel has become dry.
Pea naʻa ne pehē, “ʻE ʻuʻulu ʻa Sihova mei Saione, pea ʻe fakaongo hono leʻo mei Selūsalema; pea ko e ngaahi fale ʻoe kau tauhimanu ʻe tangi, pea ʻe mōmoa ʻae tumutumu ʻo Kameli.”
3 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Damascus, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have threshed Gilead into iron wagons.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa Tamasikusi, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe ʻae tautea mei ai; he kuo nau haha ʻa Kiliati ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa haha ukamea:
4 And I will send fire onto the house of Hazael, and it will devour the houses of Ben-hadad.
Pea te u fekau ʻae afi ki he fale ʻo Hasaeli, ʻaia te ne kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo Penihatati.
5 And I will shatter the crowbar of Damascus, and I will destroy the inhabitants of the camp of the idol and the holder of the scepter of the house of pleasure; and the people of Syria will be transferred to Cyrene, says the Lord.
Te u fesiʻi foki ʻae vaʻa ʻo Tamasikusi, pea te u motuhi ʻae kakai mei he toafa ko ʻAveni, pea mo ia ʻoku maʻu ʻae tokotoko mei he fale ʻo ʻIteni: pea ʻe ʻalu pōpula ʻae kakai Silia ki Kili,” he ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Gaza, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have carried out an excellent captivity, so as to enclose them in Idumea.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa Kesa, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [ʻae tautea ]mei ai; he naʻa nau ʻave pōpula ʻae kau pōpula kotoa pē, koeʻuhi ke nau tuku ʻakinautolu ki ʻItomi:
7 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Gaza, and it will devour its buildings.
Ka te u fekau ʻae afi ki he ʻā ʻo Kesa, ʻaia te ne kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻi ai:
8 And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, and the holder of the scepter of Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remainder of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.
9 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Tyre, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have completed an excellent captivity in Idumea and have not considered the bond among brothers.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa Taia, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [hono tautea ]ʻo ia; he naʻa nau tuku ʻae kau pōpula kotoa pē ki ʻItomi, pea naʻe ʻikai te nau manatuʻi ʻae fuakava fakakāinga:
10 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Tyre, and it will devour its buildings.
Ka te u fekau ʻae afi ki he ʻā ʻo Taia, ʻaia te ne kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻi ai.”
11 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Edom, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has been pursuing his brother with the sword and has outraged his brother’s compassion, and he has gone beyond his anger and has held onto his indignation until the end.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa ʻItomi, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [hono tautea ]ʻo ia; he naʻa ne tuli hono tokoua ʻaki ʻae heletā, pea naʻe liʻaki ʻae manavaʻofa, pea naʻe haeʻi ʻe ia ʻi heʻene ʻita maʻuaipē, pea naʻa ne fakatolonga ʻene lili ʻo taʻengata:
12 I will send a fire onto Teman, and it will devour the buildings of Bozrah.
Ka te u fekau ʻae afi ki Timani, ʻaia ʻe kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo Posila.”
13 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has cut up the pregnant women of Gilead, so as to expand his limits.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻae fānau ʻa ʻAmoni, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [honau tautea]; he naʻa nau haeʻi ʻae kau fefine feitama ʻi Kiliati, koeʻuhi ke nau totolo mai honau mata fonua:
14 And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.
Ka te u tutu ʻae afi ʻi he ʻā ʻo Lapa, pea te ne kai ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo ia, ʻi he kaila ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe tau, mo e afā ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe ʻahiohio:
15 And Melchom will go into captivity, he and his leaders together, says the Lord.
Pea ʻe ʻalu honau tuʻi ki he pōpula, ʻaia mo hono ngaahi houʻeiki fakataha,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
