2 Corinthians 10
1 But I myself, Paul, am begging you, through the meekness and modesty of Christ. I am certainly, by appearances, lowly among you, yet I have confidence in you, even while I am absent.
Αυτός δε εγώ ο Παύλος σας παρακαλώ διά της πραότητος και επιεικείας του Χριστού, όστις παρών μεν είμαι ταπεινός μεταξύ σας, απών δε λαμβάνω θάρρος προς εσάς·
2 So I am petitioning you, lest I be bold, when present, with that bold confidence that I am considered to have by certain ones who judge us as if we were walking according to the flesh.
σας παρακαλώ δε όταν έλθω, να μη λάβω θάρρος με την πεποίθησιν εκείνην, με την οποίαν στοχάζομαι να τολμήσω εναντίον τινών, οίτινες θεωρούσιν ημάς ως κατά σάρκα περιπατούντας.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh.
Διότι αν και περιπατώμεν εν σαρκί, δεν πολεμούμεν όμως κατά σάρκα·
4 For the weapons of our battles are not carnal, yet still they are powerful with God, unto the destruction of fortifications: tearing down every counsel
διότι τα όπλα του πολέμου ημών δεν είναι σαρκικά, αλλά δυνατά συν Θεώ προς καθαίρεσιν οχυρωμάτων·
5 and height that extols itself contrary to the wisdom of God, and leading every intellect into the captivity of obedience to Christ,
επειδή καθαιρούμεν λογισμούς και παν ύψωμα επαιρόμενον εναντίον της γνώσεως του Θεού, και αιχμαλωτίζομεν παν νόημα εις την υπακοήν του Χριστού,
6 and standing ready to repudiate every disobedience, when your own obedience has been fulfilled.
και είμεθα έτοιμοι να εκδικήσωμεν πάσαν παρακοήν, όταν γείνη πλήρης η υπακοή σας.
7 Consider the things that are in accord with appearances. If anyone trusts that by these things he belongs to Christ, let him reconsider this within himself. For just as he belongs to Christ, so also do we.
Τα κατά πρόσωπον βλέπετε. Εάν τις έχη πεποίθησιν εις εαυτόν ότι είναι του Χριστού, ας συλλογίζηται τούτο πάλιν αφ' εαυτού, ότι καθώς αυτός είναι του Χριστού, ούτω και ημείς είμεθα του Χριστού.
8 And if I were even to glory somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord has given to us for your edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed.
Διότι εάν και περισσότερόν τι καυχηθώ διά την εξουσίαν ημών, την οποίαν έδωκεν εις ημάς ο Κύριος εις οικοδομήν και ουχί εις καθαίρεσίν σας, δεν θέλω αισχυνθή,
9 But let it not be said that I am scaring you by means of epistles.
διά να μη φανώ ότι θέλω να σας εκφοβίζω διά των επιστολών.
10 For they say: “His epistles, indeed, are weighty and strong. But his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is contemptible.”
Διότι αι μεν επιστολαί, λέγει τις, είναι βαρείαι και ισχυραί, η δε παρουσία του σώματος ασθενής και ο λόγος εξουθενημένος.
11 Let someone like this realize that whatever we are in word through epistles, while absent: we are much the same in deed, while present.
Τούτο ας παρατηρή ο τοιούτος, ότι οποίοι είμεθα εις τον λόγον διά των επιστολών απόντες, τοιούτοι και παρόντες εις το έργον.
12 For we would not dare to interpose or compare ourselves with certain ones who commend themselves. But we measure ourselves by ourselves, and we compare ourselves with ourselves.
Διότι δεν τολμώμεν να συναριθμήσωμεν ή να συγκρίνωμεν εαυτούς προς τινάς εκ των συνιστώντων εαυτούς· αλλ' αυτοί καθ' εαυτούς μετρούντες εαυτούς και προς εαυτούς συγκρίνοντες εαυτούς ανοηταίνουσιν.
13 Thus, we will not glory beyond our measure, but rather according to the measure of the limit which God has measured out to us, a measure which extends even to you.
Αλλ' ημείς δεν θέλομεν καυχηθή εις τα άμετρα, αλλά κατά το μέτρον του κανόνος, το οποίον εμοίρασεν εις ημάς ο Θεός, μέτρον ώστε να φθάσωμεν έως και εις εσάς.
14 For we are not overextending ourselves, as if we are not able to reach as far as you are able. For we have gone even as far as you have in the Gospel of Christ.
Διότι δεν υπερεκτείνομεν εαυτούς ως μη φθάσαντες εις εσάς. επειδή έως και εις εσάς εφθάσαμεν διά του ευαγγελίου του Χριστού,
15 We are not glorying immeasurably over the labors of others. Instead, we hold on to the hope of your growing faith, so as to be magnified in you, according to our own limits, but in abundance,
και δεν καυχώμεθα εις τα άμετρα εις ξένους κόπους, αλλ' έχομεν ελπίδα, ότι αυξανομένης της πίστεώς σας, θέλομεν μεγαλυνθή εις εσάς εκ περισσού κατά τον κανόνα ημών,
16 and even so as to evangelize in those places that are beyond you, not in order to glory in the measure of others, but rather in those things which have already been prepared.
ώστε να κηρύξωμεν το ευαγγέλιον και εις τους επέκεινα υμών τόπους, ουχί να καυχηθώμεν εις τα εν αλλοτρίω κανόνι έτοιμα.
17 But whoever glories, let him glory in the Lord.
Αλλ' όστις καυχάται, εν Κυρίω ας καυχάται·
18 For it is not he who commends himself who is approved, but rather he whom God commends.
διότι δεν είναι δόκιμος όστις συνιστά αυτός εαυτόν, αλλ' εκείνος τον οποίον ο Κύριος συνιστά.
