1 John 5
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And everyone who loves God, who provides that birth, also loves him who has been born of God.
Todos os que creem que Jesus é o Messias são filhos de Deus, e quem ama o Pai também ama o seu Filho.
2 In this way, we know that we love those born of God: when we love God and do his commandments.
E como sabemos que amamos os filhos de Deus? Sabemos quando amamos a Deus e seguimos os seus mandamentos.
3 For this is the love of God: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not heavy.
Amar a Deus significa que cumprimos os seus mandamentos, e seus mandamentos não são difíceis de serem obedecidos.
4 For all that is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world: our faith.
Todos os que são filhos de Deus podem vencer o mundo. A vitória sobre o mundo nós a conseguimos por causa da nossa fé em Deus.
5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God!
E quem pode vencer o mundo? Apenas aqueles que têm fé em Jesus, crendo que ele é o Filho de Deus.
6 This is the One who came by water and blood: Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is the One who testifies that the Christ is the Truth.
Jesus Cristo é aquele que veio por meio da água e do sangue. Ele não veio apenas por meio da água, mas por meio da água e do sangue. O Espírito dá provas que confirmam isso, pois o Espírito é a verdade.
7 For there are Three who give testimony in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. And these Three are One.
Assim, há três testemunhas:
8 And there are three who give testimony on earth: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood. And these three are one.
o Espírito, a água e o sangue, e todos os três concordam entre si.
9 If we accept the testimony of men, then the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater: that he has testified about his Son.
Se aceitamos a prova que testemunhas humanas fornecem, então, a prova que Deus nos dá é muito mais importante. A prova que vem de Deus é o seu testemunho sobre o seu Filho.
10 Whoever believes in the Son of God, holds the testimony of God within himself. Whoever does not believe in the Son, makes him a liar, because he does not believe in the testimony which God has testified about his Son.
Aqueles que creem no Filho de Deus aceitaram essa prova e se apegaram a ela. Mas aqueles que não creem em Deus fazem dele um mentiroso, pois eles não acreditam na prova que Deus nos deu sobre o seu Filho.
11 And this is the testimony which God has given to us: Eternal Life. And this Life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
A prova é esta: Deus nos deu a vida eterna e temos essa vida por meio do seu Filho. (aiōnios g166)
12 Whoever has the Son, has Life. Whoever does not have the Son, does not have Life.
Quem tem o Filho tem a vida. Quem não tem o Filho de Deus não tem a vida.
13 I am writing this to you, so that you may know that you have Eternal Life: you who believe in the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
Eu estou escrevendo para garantir aos que creem no nome do Filho de Deus que vocês terão a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
14 And this is the confidence which we have toward God: that no matter what we shall request, in accord with his will, he hears us.
Nós podemos confiar que ele nos escutará, desde que façamos os nossos pedidos de acordo com a sua vontade.
15 And we know that he hears us, no matter what we request; so we know that we can obtain the things that we request of him.
E sabendo que ele ouve os nossos pedidos, podemos ter certeza de que receberemos o que lhe pedirmos.
16 Anyone who realizes that his brother has sinned, with a sin that is not unto death, let him pray, and life shall be given to him who has sinned not unto death. There is a sin which is unto death. I am not saying that anyone should ask on behalf of that sin.
Se vocês virem um irmão ou uma irmã cristãos cometendo um pecado que não traz a morte, vocês devem orar e Deus dará a vida para aquele que pecou. A não ser que seja pecado que traga a morte. Há pecado que traz morte, e eu não estou dizendo que as pessoas deveriam orar por esse pecado.
17 All that is iniquity is sin. But there is a sin unto death.
Sim, tudo o que não é justo é pecado, mas há pecados que não trazem a morte.
18 We know that everyone who is born of God does not sin. Instead, rebirth in God preserves him, and the evil one cannot touch him.
Nós sabemos que aqueles que nasceram de Deus não vivem pecando; pois o Filho de Deus os protege e o diabo não pode lhes fazer mal.
19 We know that we are of God, and that the entire world is established in wickedness.
Nós sabemos que pertencemos a Deus e que o mundo está sob o domínio do maligno.
20 And we know that the Son of God has arrived, and that he has given us understanding, so that we may know the true God, and so that we may remain in his true Son. This is the true God, and this is Eternal Life. (aiōnios g166)
Também sabemos que o Filho de Deus veio e nos deu entendimento para que possamos reconhecer aquele que é verdadeiro. Nós vivemos unidos ao Deus verdadeiro e unidos também ao seu Filho Jesus Cristo. Ele é o Deus verdadeiro e a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
21 Little sons, keep yourselves from false worship. Amen.
Meus filhinhos, afastem-se da adoração aos ídolos!
