1 Corinthians 7
1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Auf die Fragen in euerm Brief antworte ich: Ein Mann tut gut, wenn er kein Weib berührt.
2 But, because of fornication, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
Zur Verhütung der Unzucht aber mag jeder Mann seine Ehefrau und jede Frau ihren Ehemann haben.
3 A husband should fulfill his obligation to his wife, and a wife should also act similarly toward her husband.
Der Mann soll seiner Frau den schuldigen Umgang gewähren und ebenso die Frau ihrem Mann.
4 It is not the wife, but the husband, who has power over her body. But, similarly also, it is not the husband, but the wife, who has power over his body.
Die Frau hat kein Verfügungsrecht über ihren Leib, sondern ihr Mann. Gleicherweise hat auch der Mann kein Verfügungsrecht über seinen Leib, sondern seine Frau.
5 So, do not fail in your obligations to one another, except perhaps by consent, for a limited time, so that you may empty yourselves for prayer. And then, return together again, lest Satan tempt you by means of your abstinence.
Entzieht euch einander nicht, es sei denn allenfalls nach gemeinsamer Übereinkunft auf kurze Zeit, damit ihr euch ungestört dem Gebet widmen könnt! Und dann kommt wieder zusammen, auf daß euch der Satan nicht in Versuchung bringe, weil ihr ja so unenthaltsam seid!
6 But I am saying this, neither as an indulgence, nor as a commandment.
Was ich hier ausspreche, das ist nur ein Rat und kein Gebot.
7 For I would prefer it if you were all like myself. But each person has his proper gift from God: one in this way, yet another in that way.
Ich möchte: alle Menschen wären ebenso wie ich. Doch jeder hat seine besondere Gnadengabe von Gott empfangen, der eine so, der andere so.
8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows: It is good for them, if they would remain as they are, just as I also am.
Den Unverheirateten und namentlich den Witwen sage ich: Sie tun gut, wenn sie (ledig) bleiben ebenso wie ich.
9 But if they cannot restrain themselves, they should marry. For it is better to marry, than to be burned.
Können sie sich aber nicht beherrschen, so mögen sie heiraten. Denn es ist besser, zu heiraten als von glühender Begierde zu leiden.
10 But to those who have been joined in matrimony, it is not I who commands you, but the Lord: a wife is not to separate from her husband.
Den Verheirateten gebietet der Herr, nicht ich allein: Die Frau soll sich von ihrem Mann nicht trennen.
11 But if she has separated from him, she must remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband should not divorce his wife.
- Tut sie es doch, so soll sie unverheiratet bleiben oder sich mit ihrem Mann wieder aussöhnen. — Und der Mann soll die Frau nicht entlassen.
12 Concerning the rest, I am speaking, not the Lord. If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her.
Den anderen Ehepaaren sage ich, nicht der Herr: Hat ein (christlicher) Bruder eine ungläubige Frau, und sie ist damit einverstanden, mit ihm zusammenzuleben, so soll er sie nicht entlassen.
13 And if any woman has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce her husband.
Ferner: hat eine (christliche) Frau einen ungläubigen Mann, und er ist damit einverstanden, mit ihr zusammenzuleben, so soll sie ihren Mann nicht verlassen.
14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through the believing wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through the believing husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, whereas instead they are holy.
Denn der ungläubige Mann ist durch die Gemeinschaft mit seiner (christlichen) Frau geheiligt. Sonst wären ja auch eure Kinder unrein, und sie sind doch heilig.
15 But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart. For a brother or sister cannot be made subject to servitude in this way. For God has called us to peace.
Will aber der ungläubige Teil das eheliche Zusammenleben aufgeben, so mag er es tun. In solchen Fällen ist der Bruder oder die Schwester nicht gebunden. Gott hat euch aber berufen, um miteinander in Frieden zu leben.
16 And how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
Kannst du, Frau, denn wissen, ob du deinen Mann zum Heil führen wirst? Oder kannst du, Mann, wissen, ob du deine Frau zum Heil führen wirst?
17 However, let each one walk just as the Lord has distributed to him, each one just as God has called him. And thus do I teach in all the churches.
Im übrigen gelte dies als allgemeine Regel: Ein jeder bleibe in dem Stand und Lebenskreis, den ihm der Herr beschieden und worin ihn Gott zum Heil berufen hat. Das ist die Verordnung, die ich in allen Gemeinden gebe.
18 Has any circumcised man been called? Let him not cover his circumcision. Has any uncircumcised man been called? Let him not be circumcised.
Wer als Beschnittener berufen ist, der suche seine Beschneidung nicht zu verbergen. Wer als Heide berufen ist, der lasse sich nicht beschneiden.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; there is only the observance of the commandments of God.
Die Beschneidung hat keinen Wert und ebensowenig das Nichtbeschnittensein. Es kommt nur an auf das Halten der göttlichen Gebote.
20 Let each and every one remain in the same calling to which he was called.
Jeder bleibe also in dem Stand, worin ihn Gott zum Heil berufen hat.
21 Are you a servant who has been called? Do not be concerned about it. But if you ever have the ability to be free, make use of it.
Bist du als Leibeigener berufen: gräme dich nicht darum! Kannst du jedoch frei werden, dann benutze die Gelegenheit!
22 For any servant who has been called in the Lord is free in the Lord. Similarly, any free person who has been called is a servant in Christ.
Der Leibeigene, der in die Gemeinschaft des Herrn berufen worden ist, ist ja ein Freigelassener des Herrn. Ebenso ist der Freie, der zum Heil berufen worden ist, "ein Knecht Christi".
23 You have been bought with a price. Do not be willing to become the servants of men.
Ihr seid um einen hohen Preis erkauft worden. Werdet darum keine "Menschenknechte"!
24 Brothers, let each one, in whatever state he was called, remain in that state with God.
Ein jeder also, liebe Brüder, diene Gott in dem Stand, worin er zum Heil berufen ist.
25 Now, concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord. But I give counsel, as one who has obtained the mercy of the Lord, so as to be faithful.
Wegen der Jungfrauen habe ich kein ausdrückliches Gebot vom Herrn. Aber ich will doch meine Meinung aussprechen als ein Mann, der durch des Herrn Erbarmen Vertrauen verdient.
26 Therefore, I consider this to be good, because of the present necessity: that it is good for a man to be such as I am.
Ich meine nun: Wegen der gegenwärtigen schweren Zeitlage ist es für jeden gut, so zu bleiben, wie er ist.
27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be freed. Are you free of a wife? Do not seek a wife.
Bist du an eine Frau gebunden, so suche das Verhältnis nicht zu lösen! Bist du ledig, dann suche keine Frau!
28 But if you take a wife, you have not sinned. And if a virgin has married, she has not sinned. Even so, such as these will have the tribulation of the flesh. But I would spare you from this.
Wenn du aber heiratest, so tust du damit keine Sünde. Doch müssen die Verheirateten äußere Trübsal durchmachen, und die möchte ich euch gern ersparen.
29 And so, this is what I say, brothers: The time is short. What remains of it is such that: those who have wives should be as if they had none;
Ich versichere euch, Brüder: Die Zeit (bis zu dem Kommen des Herrn) ist nur noch kurz. Deshalb gelte hinfort die Regel: Auch jene, die Frauen haben, sollen sich so verhalten, als hätten sie keine.
30 and those who weep, as though they were not weeping; and those who rejoice, as if they were not rejoicing; and those who buy, as if they possessed nothing;
Die Weinenden sollen sein, als weinten sie nicht, die Fröhlichen, als wären sie nicht fröhlich, die Käufer, als behielten sie das Gekaufte nicht;
31 and those who use the things of this world, as if they were not using them. For the figure of this world is passing away.
kurz, die in der Welt leben, sollen sich so verhalten, als lebten sie nicht darin. Denn die Welt in ihrer jetzigen Gestalt ist im Vergehen begriffen.
32 But I would prefer you to be without worry. Whoever is without a wife is worried about the things of the Lord, as to how he may please God.
Da möchte ich gern, ihr wärt von allen weltlichen Sorgen frei. Der Unverheiratete richtet seine Sorge auf den Dienst des Herrn: er will dem Herrn gefallen.
33 But whoever is with a wife is worried about the things of the world, as to how he may please his wife. And so, he is divided.
Der Verheiratete ist um die weltlichen Dinge besorgt: er will seiner Frau gefallen.
34 And the unmarried woman and the virgin think about the things that are of the Lord, so that she may be holy in body and in spirit. But she who is married thinks about the things that are of the world, as to how she may please her husband.
Derselbe Unterschied besteht auch zwischen der verheirateten Frau und der Jungfrau. Die Jungfrau richtet ihre Sorge auf den Dienst des Herrn; sie will heilig sein an Leib und Geist. Die verheiratete Frau ist um die weltlichen Dinge besorgt: sie will ihrem Mann gefallen.
35 Furthermore, I am saying this for your own benefit, not in order to cast a snare over you, but toward whatever is honest and whatever may provide you with the ability to be without hindrance, so as to worship the Lord.
Diesen Rat (nicht zu heiraten) gebe ich euch zu euerm eigenen Besten. Damit will ich euch aber nicht etwa eine Schlinge überwerfen. Ich möchte euch vielmehr helfen, daß es geziemend bei euch zugehe, und ihr allezeit ungestört zu des Herrn Füßen sitzen könnt.
36 But if any man considers himself to seem dishonorable, concerning a virgin who is of adult age, and so it ought to be, he may do as he wills. If he marries her, he does not sin.
Glaubt aber ein Vater, er handle unrecht gegen seine jungfräuliche Tochter, wenn er sie unverheiratet alt werden läßt, und hält er deshalb ihre Verheiratung für nötig, so tue er, was ihm gut scheint. Er sündigt damit nicht: die Tochter und ihr Freier mögen ruhig heiraten.
37 But if he has decided firmly in his heart, and he does not have any obligation, but only the power of his free will, and if he has judged this in his heart, to let her remain a virgin, he does well.
Wer dagegen als willensstarker Mann und frei von allem äußeren Zwang — so daß er ganz nach eigenem Wunsch handeln kann — zu dem Entschluß gekommen ist, seine Tochter unverheiratet zu lassen, der tut wohl daran.
38 And so, he who joins with his virgin in matrimony does well, and he who does not join with her does better.
Also: ein Vater, der seine jungfräuliche Tochter verheiratet, der handelt recht; und wer sie nicht verheiratet, der handelt noch besser.
39 A woman is bound under the law for as long as her husband lives. But if her husband has died, she is free. She may marry whomever she wishes, but only in the Lord.
Eine Ehefrau ist an ihren Mann gebunden, solange er lebt. Stirbt der Mann, so hat sie Freiheit zu heiraten, wen sie will; nur muß es ein Christ sein.
40 But she will be more blessed, if she remains in this state, in accord with my counsel. And I think that I, too, have the Spirit of God.
Sie ist aber besser daran, wenn sie unverheiratet bleibt. Das ist meine Ansicht, und ich denke doch auch Gottes Geist zu haben.
