1 Corinthians 14
1 Pursue charity. Be zealous for spiritual things, but only so that you may prophesy.
Façam do amor o seu objetivo mais importante! Mas, também, façam o seu melhor para receberem dons espirituais, especialmente a capacidade de anunciar a mensagem de Deus.
2 For whoever speaks in tongues, speaks not to men, but to God. For no one understands. Yet by the Spirit, he speaks mysteries.
Aqueles que falam em uma língua não estão falando às pessoas, mas, sim, para Deus, pois ninguém pode entendê-los quando eles falam sobre os mistérios, no Espírito.
3 But whoever prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.
Porém, as palavras daquele que profetiza fortalecem as pessoas, pois elas oferecem encorajamento e conforto.
4 Whoever speaks in tongues edifies himself. But whoever prophesies edifies the Church.
Aquele que fala em outra língua apenas encoraja a si mesmo; mas aquele que profetiza fortalece a igreja. Eu gostaria que todos vocês falassem em línguas diferentes, mas preferiria ainda mais se pudessem profetizar.
5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but more so to prophesy. For he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless perhaps he interprets, so that the Church may receive edification.
Aqueles que profetizam são mais importantes do que aqueles que falam em diferentes línguas, a não ser que consigam interpretar o que está sendo dito, para que a igreja possa se fortalecer.
6 But now, brothers, if I were to come to you speaking in tongues, how would it benefit you, unless instead I speak to you in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophecy, or in doctrine?
Irmãos e irmãs, se eu for até vocês falando em línguas diferentes, que benefício eu traria para vocês, a não ser que eu trouxesse alguma revelação ou conhecimento, mensagem profética ou ensinamento?
7 Even those things that are without a soul can make sounds, whether it is a wind or a stringed instrument. But unless they present a distinction within the sounds, how will it be known which is from the pipe and which is from the string?
Existem instrumentos musicais, como flauta ou harpa, mas se eles não produzirem notas claras, como saberão qual música está sendo tocada?
8 For example, if the trumpet made an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for battle?
Da mesma maneira, se a corneta não produz um som claro, quem ficará pronto para a batalha?
9 So it is with you also, for unless you utter with the tongue in plain speech, how will it be known what is said? For then you would be speaking into the air.
O mesmo serve para vocês. A não ser que vocês falem usando palavras que sejam fáceis de se compreender, quem saberá o que estão dizendo? O que vocês disserem se perderá com o vento.
10 Consider that there are so many different kinds of languages in this world, and yet none is without a voice.
Certamente há muitas línguas neste mundo e há significado em cada uma delas.
11 Therefore, if I do not understand the nature of the voice, then I shall be like a foreigner to the one with whom I am speaking; and he who is speaking will be like a foreigner to me.
Mas se eu não entender a língua, aqueles que a falam são estrangeiros para mim, e eu também sou estrangeiro para eles.
12 So it is with you also. And since you are zealous for what is spiritual, seek the edification of the Church, so that you may abound.
O mesmo serve para vocês. Se vocês estão dispostos a ter dons espirituais, tentem principalmente ter aqueles dons que fortaleçam a igreja.
13 For this reason, too, whoever speaks in tongues, let him pray for the interpretation.
Qualquer pessoa que fale em uma língua diferente deve pedir a Deus para que consiga traduzir o que é dito.
14 So, if I pray in tongues, my spirit prays, but my mind is without fruit.
Pois se eu orar em voz alta, em uma língua diferente, meu espírito estará orando, mas minha mente não tem parte nisso.
15 What is next? I should pray with the spirit, and also pray with the mind. I should sing psalms with the spirit, and also recite psalms with the mind.
Então, o que eu devo fazer? Irei orar “com o Espírito”, mas também irei orar com a minha mente. Irei cantar “com o Espírito”, mas também irei cantar com a minha mente.
16 Otherwise, if you have blessed only with the spirit, how can someone, in a state of ignorance, add an “Amen” to your blessing? For he does not know what you are saying.
Pois se você ora apenas “com o Espírito”, como as pessoas comuns, que não têm entendimento, podem dizer “Amém!”, após a sua oração de agradecimento, já que elas não têm ideia do que você disse?
17 In this case, certainly, you give thanks well, but the other person is not edified.
Talvez você tenha feito uma ótima oração de agradecimento, mas que não ajudou a outra pessoa.
18 I thank my God that I speak in tongues for all of you.
Eu agradeço a Deus pelo fato de ser capaz de falar em outras línguas, mais do que vocês todos.
19 But in the Church, I prefer to speak five words from my mind, so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in tongues.
Mas, na igreja, eu prefiro falar cinco palavras que possam ser entendidas, para ensinar as pessoas, do que falar dez mil palavras em uma língua que ninguém consiga entender.
20 Brothers, do not choose to have the minds of children. Instead, be free of malice like infants, but be mature in your minds.
Irmãos e irmãs, não pensem como crianças. Sejam inocentes como bebês em relação ao mal, mas sejam adultos em seu modo de pensar.
21 It is written in the law: “I will speak to this people with other tongues and other lips, and even so, they will not heed me, says the Lord.”
Como as Sagradas Escrituras registram: “‘Eu falarei com o meu povo por meio de outras línguas e dos lábios dos pagãos, mas, ainda assim, eles não me darão ouvidos’, diz o Senhor.”
22 And so, tongues are a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers; and prophecies are not for unbelievers, but for believers.
Falar em diferentes línguas é um sinal, não para os cristãos, mas para aqueles que não creem. Mas, quanto à profecia é o contrário: não é para aqueles que não creem, mas, sim, para os cristãos.
23 If then, the entire Church were to gather together as one, and if all were to speak in tongues, and then ignorant or unbelieving persons were to enter, would they not say that you were insane?
Se toda a igreja estiver reunida e todos vocês estiverem falando em línguas diferentes e chegarem algumas pessoas que não têm instrução ou que não creem, elas não dirão que vocês estão loucos?
24 But if everyone prophesies, and one who is ignorant or unbelieving enters, he may be convinced by it all, because he understands it all.
Mas, se todos estiverem profetizando, e vier alguém que não crê ou que não tenha instrução, ele ficará convencido e terá que prestar contas pelas palavras que ouviu.
25 The secrets of his heart are then made manifest. And so, falling to his face, he would adore God, proclaiming that God is truly among you.
Os pensamentos secretos dessa pessoa serão revelados e, então, ela cairá de joelhos e irá adorar a Deus, afirmando que Deus verdadeiramente está com vocês.
26 What is next, brothers? When you gather together, each one of you may have a psalm, or a doctrine, or a revelation, or a language, or an interpretation, but let everything be done for edification.
Portanto, irmãos e irmãs, o que vocês devem fazer? Quando se reunirem, pessoas diferentes irão cantar, ensinar, compartilhar uma revelação de Deus, falar em uma língua diferente ou fazer uma interpretação. Mas, tudo deve ser feito com o propósito de desenvolver e de encorajar a igreja.
27 If anyone is speaking in tongues, let there be only two, or at most three, and then in turn, and let someone interpret.
Se alguém quiser falar em uma língua diferente, que apenas dois o façam, ou no máximo três, sendo apenas um por vez, e alguém deve interpretar o que está sendo dito.
28 But if there is no one to interpret, he should remain silent in the church, then he may speak when he is alone with God.
Caso não tenha alguém para interpretar, as pessoas que falam em línguas diferentes devem ficar quietas na igreja e falar apenas consigo mesmas e com Deus.
29 And let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the others discern.
Do mesmo modo, se dois ou três desses receberem uma mensagem de Deus, por meio do dom de profecia, eles devem falar, e que os outros pensem sobre o que foi dito.
30 But then, if something is revealed to another who is sitting, let the first one become silent.
No entanto, se uma revelação especial vier para alguém que esteja sentado, então, quem estiver falando deve dar o lugar para que o outro fale.
31 For you are all able to prophesy one at a time, so that all may learn and all may be encouraged.
Todos vocês podem profetizar, um de cada vez, para que todos possam aprender e ser incentivados.
32 For the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
Quem fala por Deus, por meio do dom de profecia, deve aprender a controlar a sua inspiração profética,
33 And God is not of dissension, but of peace, just as I also teach in all the churches of the saints.
pois Deus não é um Deus de desordem, mas, de paz e tranquilidade. Em todas as igrejas do povo de Deus
34 Women should be silent in the churches. For it is not permitted for them to speak; but instead, they should be subordinate, as the law also says.
as mulheres devem permanecer quietas e não devem falar. Que elas estejam submissas, cumprindo o que a lei determina.
35 And if they want to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church.
Se elas quiserem saber a respeito de alguma coisa, devem fazer isso em casa, perguntando ao marido. Não é apropriado que mulheres falem na igreja.
36 So now, did the Word of God proceed from you? Or was it sent to you alone?
Por acaso a palavra de Deus se originou com vocês? Vocês foram os únicos para quem a mensagem do Senhor veio?
37 If anyone seems to be a prophet or a spiritual person, he should understand these things which I am writing to you, that these things are the commandments of the Lord.
Quem achar que é um profeta ou que tem algum dom espiritual deve estar ciente de que o que estou escrevendo a vocês é um mandamento do Senhor.
38 If anyone does not recognize these things, he should not be recognized.
Quem ignorar isso, também será ignorado.
39 And so, brothers, be zealous to prophesy, and do not prohibit speaking in tongues.
Então, meus irmãos e minhas irmãs, busquem sempre anunciar a palavra de Deus, por meio do dom de profecia. E não proíbam que se fale em línguas diferentes.
40 But let everything be done respectfully and according to proper order.
Apenas garantam que tudo seja feito de forma adequada e com ordem.
