Sophonias 1
1 The word of the Lord which came to Sophonias the son of Chusi, the son of Godolias, the son of Amorias, the son of Ezekias, in the days of Josias son of Amon, king of Juda.
Das Wort des HERRN, welches an Zephanja, den Sohn Kuschis, des Sohnes Gedaljas, des Sohnes Amarjas, des Sohnes Hiskias, erging, in den Tagen Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda:
2 Let there be an utter cutting off from the face of the land, says the Lord.
Ich will alles vom Erdboden wegraffen, spricht der HERR.
3 Let man and cattle be cut off; let the birds of the air and the fishes of the sea be cut off; and the ungodly shall fail, and I will take away the transgressors from the face of the land, says the Lord.
Ich will wegraffen Menschen und Vieh, die Vögel des Himmels und die Fische im Meer und die Ärgernisse mitsamt den Gottlosen, und will den Menschen vom Erdboden vertilgen, spricht der HERR.
4 And I will stretch out mine hand upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will remove the names of Baal out of this place, and the names of the priests;
Und ich will meine Hand ausstrecken wider Juda und wider alle Bewohner von Jerusalem und will von diesem Orte ausrotten den Überrest des Baalsdienstes, den Namen der Götzendiener samt den Priestern;
5 and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;
auch die, welche auf den Dächern das Heer des Himmels anbeten, samt denen, welche den HERRN anbeten und bei ihm schwören, zugleich aber auch bei Malkom schwören;
6 and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.
und die, welche abweichen von der Nachfolge des HERRN und weder den HERRN suchen, noch nach ihm fragen.
7 Fear you before the Lord God; for the day of the Lord is near; for the Lord has prepared his sacrifice, and has sanctified his guests.
Seid stille vor dem Angesicht Gottes, des HERRN! Denn nahe ist der Tag des HERRN; denn der HERR hat ein Schlachtopfer zugerichtet, er hat seine Geladenen geheiligt.
8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will take vengeance on the princes, and on the king's house, and upon all that wear strange apparel.
Und es wird geschehen am Tage des Schlachtopfers des HERRN, daß ich strafen werde die Fürsten und des Königs Söhne und alle, die sich in ausländische Gewänder hüllen;
9 And I will openly take vengeance on the porches in that day, [on the men] that fill the house of the Lord their God with ungodliness and deceit.
auch werde ich an jenem Tage alle diejenigen strafen, welche über die Schwelle hüpfen, die das Haus ihres Herrn mit gewalttätig und betrügerisch erworbenem Gute füllen.
10 And there shall be in that day, says the Lord, the sound of a cry from the gate of men slaying, and a howling from the second [gate], and a great crashing from the hills.
An jenem Tage, spricht der HERR, wird ein Geschrei vom Fischtor her erschallen und ein Geheul vom andern Stadtteil her und ein großes Krachen von den Hügeln her.
11 Lament, you that inhabit the [city] that has been broken down, for all the people has become like Chanaan; and all that were exalted by silver have been utterly destroyed.
Heulet, die ihr im Mühlental wohnet! Denn das ganze Krämervolk ist vernichtet, alle Geldabwäger werden ausgerottet.
12 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will search Jerusalem with a candle, and will take vengeance on the men that despise the things committed to them; but they say in their hearts, The Lord will not do any good, neither will he do any evil.
Und es wird geschehen, daß ich zu jener Zeit Jerusalem mit Laternen durchsuchen und darin alle die Leute heimsuchen werde, die auf ihren Hefen erstarrt sind, indem sie in ihrem Herzen sagen: «Der HERR wird weder Gutes noch Böses tun!»
13 And their power shall be for a spoil, and their houses for utter desolation; and they shall build houses, but shall not dwell in them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine of them.
Ihr Vermögen soll der Plünderung und ihre Häuser der Verwüstung anheimfallen; sie werden Häuser bauen und nicht darin wohnen, Weinberge pflanzen und keinen Wein davon trinken.
14 For the great day of the Lord [is] near, [it is] near, and very speedy; the sound of the day of the Lord is made bitter and harsh.
Nahe ist der große Tag des HERRN; nahe ist er und eilend kommt er herbei! Die Stimme des Tages des HERRN! Bitter schreit auf auch der Held.
15 A mighty day of wrath is that day, a day of affliction and distress, a day of desolation and destruction, a day of gloominess and darkness, a day of cloud and vapour,
Ein Tag des Zorns ist dieser Tag, ein Tag der Angst und der Bedrängnis, ein Tag des Ruins und der Zerstörung, ein Tag der Finsternis und des Dunkels, ein bewölkter und finsterer Tag,
16 a day of the trumpet and cry against the strong cities, and against the high towers.
ein Tag des Posaunen und Trompetenklangs wider die festen Städte und die hohen Zinnen.
17 And I will greatly afflict the men, and they shall walk as blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; therefore he shall pour out their blood as dust, and their flesh as dung.
Da will ich die Menschen ängstigen, daß sie herumtappen wie die Blinden; denn am HERRN haben sie sich versündigt; darum soll ihr Blut hingeschüttet werden wie Staub und ihr Fleisch wie Mist!
18 And their silver and their gold shall in nowise be able to rescue them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealously; for he will bring a speedy destruction on all them that inhabit the land.
Weder ihr Silber noch ihr Gold wird sie zu retten vermögen am Tage des Zornes des HERRN, sondern durch das Feuer seines Eifers soll die ganze Erde verzehrt werden; denn einen plötzlichen Untergang wird er allen Bewohnern der Erde bereiten.
