Psalms 83

1 A Song of a Psalm for Asaph. O God, who shall be compared to you? be not silent, neither be still, O God.

Ein Lied, ein Psalm. Von Asaph. Gott, schweige nicht; verstumme nicht und sei nicht stille, o Gott!

2 For behold, your enemies have made a noise; and they that hate you have lifted up the head.

Denn siehe, deine Feinde toben, und deine Hasser erheben das Haupt.

3 Against your people they have craftily imagined a device, and have taken counsel against your saints.

Wider dein Volk machen sie listige Anschläge, und beraten sich wider deine Geborgenen.

4 They have said, Come, and let us utterly destroy them out of the nation; and let the name of Israel be remembered no more at all.

Sie sprechen: Kommet und lasset uns sie vertilgen, daß sie keine Nation mehr seien, daß nicht mehr gedacht werde des Namens Israel!

5 For they have taken counsel together with one consent: they have made a confederacy against you;

Denn sie haben sich beraten mit einmütigem Herzen, sie haben einen Bund wider dich gemacht:

6 even the tents of the Idumeans, and the Ismaelites; Moab, and the Agarenes;

Die Zelte Edoms und die Ismaeliter, Moab und die Hageriter,

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalec; the Philistines also, with them that dwell at Tyre.

Gebal und Ammon und Amalek, Philistäa samt den Bewohnern von Tyrus;

8 Yes, Assur too is come with them: they have become a help to the children of Lot. (Pause)

auch Assur hat sich ihnen angeschlossen; sie sind zu einem Arm geworden den Söhnen Lots. (Sela)

9 Do you to them as to Madiam, and to Sisera; as to Jabin at the brook of Kison.

Tue ihnen wie Midian, wie Sisera, wie Jabin am Bache Kison;

10 They were utterly destroyed at Aendor: they became as dung for the earth.

die vertilgt wurden zu En-Dor, die dem Erdboden zum Dünger wurden!

11 Make their princes as Oreb and Zeb, and Zebee and Salmana; [even] all their princes:

Mache sie, ihre Edlen, wie Oreb und wie Seeb, und wie Sebach und wie Zalmunna alle ihre Herrscher!

12 who said, let us take to ourselves the altar of God as an inheritance.

Weil sie gesagt haben: Lasset uns in Besitz nehmen die Wohnungen Gottes!

13 O my God, make them as a wheel; as stubble before the face of the wind.

Mein Gott, mache sie gleich einem Staubwirbel, gleich Stoppeln vor dem Winde!

14 As fire which shall burn up a wood, as the flame may consume the mountains;

Wie Feuer den Wald verbrennt, und wie eine Flamme die Berge entzündet,

15 so shall you persecute them with your tempest, and trouble them in your anger.

also verfolge sie mit deinem Wetter, und mit deinem Sturmwinde schrecke sie hinweg!

16 Fill their faces with dishonour; so shall they seek your name, O Lord.

Fülle ihr Angesicht mit Schande, damit sie deinen Namen, Jehova, suchen!

17 Let them be ashamed and troubled for evermore; yes, let them be confounded and destroyed.

Laß sie beschämt und hinweggeschreckt werden für immer, und mit Scham bedeckt werden und umkommen,

18 And let them know that your name is Lord; that you alone are Most High over all the earth.

und erkennen, daß du allein, dessen Name Jehova ist, der Höchste bist über die ganze Erde!
