Psalms 73

1 A Psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to the upright in heart!

Ein Psalm Assaphs. Israel hat dennoch Gott zum Trost, wer nur reines Herzens ist.

2 But my feet were almost overthrown; my goings very nearly slipped.

Ich aber hätte schier gestrauchelt mit meinen Füßen, mein Tritt hätte beinahe geglitten.

3 For I was jealous of the transgressors, beholding the tranquillity of sinners.

Denn es verdroß mich auf die Ruhmredigen, da ich sah, daß es den Gottlosen so wohl ging.

4 For there is no sign of reluctance in their death: and [they have] firmness under their affliction.

Denn sie sind in keiner Fahr des Todes, sondern stehen fest wie ein Palast.

5 They are not in the troubles of [other] men; and they shall not be scourged with [other] men.

Sie sind nicht in Unglück wie andere Leute und werden nicht wie andere Menschen geplagt.

6 Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness.

Darum muß ihr Trotzen köstlich Ding sein, und ihr Frevel muß wohlgetan heißen.

7 Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness: they have fulfilled their intention.

Ihre Person brüstet sich wie ein fetter Wanst; sie tun, was sie nur gedenken.

8 They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness: they have uttered unrighteousness loftily.

Sie vernichten alles und reden übel davon, und reden und lästern hoch her.

9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth.

Was sie reden, das muß vom Himmel herab geredet sein; was sie sagen, das muß gelten auf Erden.

10 Therefore shall my people return hither: and full days shall be found with them.

Darum fällt ihnen ihr Pöbel zu und laufen ihnen zu mit Haufen wie Wasser

11 And they said, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?

und sprechen: Was sollte Gott nach jenen fragen? Was sollte der Höchste ihrer achten?

12 Behold, these [are] the sinners, and they that prosper always: they have possessed wealth.

Siehe, das sind die Gottlosen; die sind glückselig in der Welt und werden reich.

13 And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocency.

Soll's denn umsonst sein, daß mein Herz unsträflich lebt und ich meine Hände in Unschuld wasche

14 For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof [was] every morning.

und bin geplagt täglich, und meine Strafe ist alle Morgen da?

15 If I said, I will speak thus; behold, I [should] have broken covenant with the generation of your children.

Ich hätte auch schier so gesagt wie sie; aber siehe, damit hätte ich verdammt alle deine Kinder, die je gewesen sind.

16 And I undertook to understand this, [but] it is too hard for me,

Ich gedacht ihm nach, daß ich's begreifen möchte; aber es war mir zu schwer

17 until I go into the sanctuary of God; [and so] understand the latter end.

bis daß ich ging in das Heiligtum Gottes und merkte auf ihr Ende.

18 Surely you have appointed [judgements] to them because of their crafty dealings: you have cast them down when they were lifted up.

Aber du setzest sie aufs Schlüpfrige und stürzest sie zu Boden.

19 How have they become desolate! suddenly they have failed: they have perished because of their iniquity.

Wie werden sie so plötzlich zunichte! Sie gehen unter und nehmen ein Ende mit Schrecken.

20 As the dream of one awakening, O Lord, in your city you will despise their image.

Wie ein Traum, wenn einer erwachet, so machst du, HERR, ihr Bild in der Stadt verschmähet.

21 For my heart has rejoiced, and my reins have been gladdened.

Aber es tut mir wehe im Herzen und sticht mich in meinen Nieren,

22 But I [was] vile and knew not: I became brutish before you.

daß ich muß ein Narr sein und nichts wissen und muß wie ein Tier sein vor dir.

23 Yet I am continually with you: you have holden my right hand.

Dennoch bleibe ich stets an dir; denn du hältst mich bei meiner rechten Hand,

24 You have guided me by your counsel, and you have taken me to yourself with glory.

du leitest mich nach deinem Rat und nimmst mich endlich mit Ehren an.

25 For what have I in heaven [but you]? and what have I desired upon the earth beside you?

Wenn ich nur dich habe, so frage ich nichts nach Himmel und Erde.

26 My heart and my flesh have failed: [but] God [is the strength] of my heart, and God is my portion for ever.

Wenn mir gleich Leib und Seele verschmachtet, so bist du doch, Gott, allezeit meines Herzens Trost und mein Teil.

27 For, behold, they that remove themselves far from you shall perish: you have destroyed every one that goes a whoring from you.

Denn, siehe, die von dir weichen, werden umkommen; du bringest um alle, die wider dich huren.

28 But it is good for me to cleave close to God, to put my trust in the Lord; that I may proclaim all your praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion.

Aber das ist meine Freude, daß ich mich zu Gott halte und meine Zuversicht setze auf den HERRN HERRN, daß ich verkündige all dein Tun.
